This is a guide to the application and installation of the accessories that finish of a stairway, including Stair Nosing (stair edging). Edgings (angles) provide a
neat trim to the sides of steps on an open string stairway and Stair Nosings are the essential safety feature applied to
the nose of each step. For those stairways with a curved step feature, bespoke fabricated Stair Nosings can be produced.
Outline fitting instructions for these accessories are shown overleaf.

buildings. These Stair Nosings (Stair Edgings) are available in a range of
gauges, from 0 to 7mm, allowing for
fixing with vinyl, linoleum and carpets
or similar floor coverings.
With a coloured slip resistant PVC
tread applied to the full upper
surface of the carrier, Q-Range
profiles have been designed with
the Equality Act (formerly DDA) and
building regulations best practice
guidelines taken into account.

These two preformed mouldings are used in conjunction with Cove Formers and Capping Strips to allow for the floor
covering to be continued up the wall for a short distance (usually approx. 100mm) thus helping to create a clean finish
in wet and sanitised areas. They save installation time and help provide a neat and professional finish at internal and
external wall corners removing the difficult process of mitre cutting the Cove Former profile.

These two profiles are used in conjunction with each other to allow for the floor covering to be continued up the wall to
the tile joint, creating a clean finish in wet and sanitised areas. The Cove Former is installed at the junction of the floor
and wall which provides a hidden radiused support for the floor covering as it is curved up the wall. The Capping Strip
finishes off the floor covering where it meets the tiles and makes a neat sealed finish to the installation.
