Profile 22 Optima Chamfered Windows help transform 1960s building into stylish modern housing

Over 1,000 Profile 22 Optima Chamfered Windows have been used in a conversion project in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. Sim Chem House in Cheadle Hulme was a six storey office block built in the 1960s. The building had been empty for many years and fallen into disrepair. It was purchased by developers Inspired Homes to be redeveloped into 184 studio, one and two bed ultra-high quality apartments aimed at young homeowners.

Woldgate School secured £1.3 million for improvements to its buildings from the Department for Education. The funds were to cover work including the removal and replacement of external walls not of brick construction, as well as windows and doors, many of which were the originals from when the school was first built. Profile 22 Approved Window Contractor Kingfisher Windows was appointed principal contractor for the works. The company undertook the design, manufacture and installation of the window element of the project and worked closely with trusted sub-contractors to deliver other aspects to the high standards the project demanded.

Kuraray – Trosifol®

The monument, sited on a roundabout on Avenida Circunvalar, near the city’s industrial area, uses a huge steel and aluminium frame to support more than 2,000 m2 (21,500 ft2) of colored laminated safety glass. Arranged in a harlequin pattern, the glazed panels - in shades of red, yellow, green, blue and white - cover the entirety of the structure in a multi-colored façade that is both complimentary and contrasting to the surrounding area.

Six Storey Spinning Mill

One of Huddersfield’s most iconic cotton spinning mills has been transformed with the installation of replacement windows fabricated in the REHAU TOTAL70c 70mm system. 110 windows replaced singled glazed timber windows across one façade of the 105 year old building. The original timber windows had become rotten and draughty and there was a danger that they could fall into the car park below. REHAU TOTAL70c windows were recommended as the ideal replacement for the timber windows because of their proven quality and durability and self cleaning glass was also specified to minimise the ongoing maintenance of the windows

TRC Restoration

TRC was commissioned in December 2015 to begin a 34-month project to refurbish the 850 sash windows so they perform to expectation in such a high-end building, while retaining their heritage characteristics. We also restored over 40 pairs of French doors. Some new windows and doors were also required where the existing were beyond economical repair; so our sister brand TRC Windows supplied and installed 30 replacement identical sash windows to the main building.

The Gateway Student Accommodation

Nearly 600 PVC-U tilt-turn windows in the Profile 22 system were chosen for The Gateway, a £22million student accommodation in Lincoln. The tilt-turn windows were fabricated by Profile 22’s Approved Window Contractor, Polar Windows, using the fully chamfered system, foiled with smooth finish RAL 7016 Anthracite grey as a special order to colour match the aluminium design scheme. The work was carried out in line with strict deadlines, and the project was completed in good time ready for the beginning of the academic year.

Security Put To The Test

Eurocell collaborated with its approved fabricator to develop the Safevent anti-ligature security window, in order to meet the needs of its customers for secure units. The window is now being installed across a much wider range of healthcare projects. The Safevent window uses Eurocell profiles with Pilkington Activ™ self-cleaning glass as its major components.

Grade 2 Listed Cattle Barn Keeps Its Character

Upon researching a number of timber window companies the family approached Bereco in the knowledge that we have supplied our wooden windows and doors to many listed properties over the years including the local Thrum Mill. The Grade II* Listed Blue Mills in Witham, Essex was recorded in Domesday as the water mill at Benton Hall, a subsidiary manor of Blunts in Witham. The owners have lived in Blue Mills for 20 years and reached out to Selectaglaze for advice on secondary glazing treatments for their primary windows; a mixture of timber sash windows, fixed lights and inward/outward opening casements. 22 windows were treated using a number of window styles: fixed light, vertical sliding and side-hung casements. Selectaglaze is the leading specialist in secondary glazing, established in 1966 and Royal Warrant Holder since 2004.

Hornby Flats social housing refurbishment

Part of an energy efficiency drive, the landlord aimed to reduce carbon emissions and the effects of fuel poverty on 96 units in 8 blocks at Hornby Flats, Liverpool. Triple-glazed PVC-U windows and doors using the Profile 22 70mm system by Walsall-based Approved Window Contractor Select Windows, with extensive experience in social housing. Profile 22 worked closely with Select Windows and One Vision Housing, facilitating the entire process from conception to completion. The project was completed on-time and in budget. One Vision Housing was able to future-proof, while improving the quality of living for tenants.

Cliveden House

TRC Restoration

In February 2013 TRC was approached by Julian Harrap Architects to undertake refurbishment of the second-floor windows, due to our previous project success. Our work at Cliveden was equally well-received, and we were commissioned to refurbish all the remaining windows and doors. The three-year project encompassed the full restoration of 300 sash windows, casement windows and French doors, including: stripping existing paintwork timber repairs and splicing re-glazing with historic hand-made blown glass fitting a fully-rebated fraught proofing system supplying and installing bespoke ironmongery full painting inside and out.

Cavity Closers used in the UK’s largest zero carbon village

Eurocell Eurologik triple-glazed windows and fully recycled cavity closers have been specified by Morris Homes on the UK’s largest zero carbon village in Peterborough. Sheffield-based Eurocell fabricator Ford Windows fabricated and installed the zero-carbon window solution. Vista, in the Southbank area of the city, is a development of 295 zero-carbon homes designed to reduce energy emissions by 100 per cent compared to an equivalent-sized standard housing development.

Number 48 Doughty Street was an important place in Charles Dickens’s life where he lived from 1837 until 1839. TRC carried out the full restoration of the existing double hung sash windows, which included remedial repairs, overhaul, draught exclusion and the replacement of the dormer windows with a bespoke sash windows with slim 12mm double glazed sealed units.
