Buzon UK were commissioned alongside The Outdoor Deck Company to refurbish the external terraces of several top floor apartments located on Nile Street, moments from Old Street, London. The brand new GRAD invisible fixing clip system was supplied and installed by the Outdoor Deck Company, their first ever GRAD installation in the UK. Buzon UK supplied and installed PB pedestals, which were placed under each rail to support the GRAD ThermoAsh deck boards. The GRAD system can either be fitted onto conventional timber joists, or mounted onto the bespoke support rail system.

Stunning warehouse conversion benefits from Clement W40 steel windows

Clement have replaced hundreds of industrial style steel windows at the newly restored Maple Building in Kentish Town, North West London. Dating back to the 1890s. Acquired recently by The Linton Group who have turned the old converted warehouse into five floors of luxury apartments and penthouses. Interior architects, Gordon-Duff & Linton insisted upon a high specification throughout, focusing on strong acoustic and design performance. Clement W40 steel windows were the perfect choice, complementing the cosy, well-lit interiors that are a feature of the building, as well as offering superb quality and an impeccable match to the original fenestration.

Crossrail, Tottenham Court Road

Howe Green

Over 400 of Howe Green’s Access Covers have been supplied to Tier 1 contractors working on Europe’s largest construction project – Crossrail. Over 60 of Howe Green’s 7500 Series Multipart Floor Access Covers were supplied specifically for Tottenham Court Road Station. The large 4 part units were precision made to order to ensure they would be a perfect fit, avoiding slips and trips in such a highly trafficked and challenging environment. The covers have been infilled with granite to match the surrounding area and supplied with barrel lifting points, with just the securing bolt and barrel edge visible.

Architect Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners specified Howe Green when they required a unique, reliable access solution for the WCEC. Howe Green designed and manufactured a circular access cover in 316-grade stainless steel. The bespoke cover offered a stylish and discreet solution, capable of withstanding 40kn load and meeting the specification for aesthetics and performance. Each box section of the cover had built-in cable access and voice/data plug-in points. Slotted steel lids were made for when services were in use. The access covers also accept coloured polished concrete inserts made to match the surrounding Ed Lazenby floor.

Santander UK HQ in London

Planet Partitioning

As a Santander approved supplier, Planet was approached directly to specify internal glass partitions and glass doors for the refurbishment of its UK headquarters. Working with Marks Barfield Architects and main contractor Bluu, the project required a premium finish and high sound attenuation levels. Planet 100DG partitioning with single and double Sonotec doors were installed in all the VIP meeting rooms and tech panels were fitted to accommodate electronic room booking systems. Added privacy was ensured with three-quarter-high switchable glass division panels. FireTec doors on the ground floor help meet the building’s strict fire strategy requirements.

Hill Partnership, Essex

Planet Partitioning

Hill Partnership is a Top 25 builder of houses that offer stylish and contemporary living. They asked Planet Partitioning to oversee all the internal partitioning requirements at its new two-story Head Office. The atrium voids and room frontages featured p100 single-glazed demountable partitioning - chosen because its thick framework complemented the robust and open steel framework of the building. Planet used vertex dry joints to ensure a virtually invisible glass partitioning joint and the highest acoustic insulation. Manifestation was applied for additional privacy and Eclipse sliding doors maximised floor space in all offices and meeting rooms.

University of Leeds, Nexus Building

SAS International Ltd

Welcoming the building users the creatively versatile SAS740 has been installed in the reception area. For the 120-seat lecture theatre, the architects had envisioned a feature ceiling with an angled effect. SAS200 panels were designed at a 16-degree angle to create an angular effect, accomplishing the he architect’s design intent. The offerings on the ground floor also includes a seminar space. For this SAS specified the visually engaging SAS500 baffles which offers enhanced acoustic performance due to double faced panels. In completion, SAS also supplied SAS600 rafts to this purpose-built hub which connects business and academia.

PwC, Manchester

SAS International Ltd

SAS International delivered standard and bespoke SAS metal ceiling systems to PwC, Manchester. Across the main workspaces, SAS330 was installed presenting a pristine and uniform aesthetic which contributes to the open-plan design. For the communal area, bespoke hexagonal SAS600 rafts were designed and manufactured to protect the specified lights. SAS810 Tricell was installed in the break-out area contributing to the sleek and intelligent design. Further floors were completed in early 2019 which introduced SAS330 Mesh in 12 meeting rooms. This striking people-centric office space has won the Fit Out of Workplace Award at the BCO Awards.

Secondary Glazing receives a warm reception in top London PR office

Selectaglaze Ltd

Premier PR, located in a 19th Century former warehouse had had thermal and acoustic secondary glazing installed by Selectaglaze to help produce a more amenable working environment for office staff. Selectaglaze installed 115 windows across the ground, first, second and third floors. A wide range of products were combined for the specification, the majority of which were two and three pane horizontal sliders. The Series 30 lift-out unit was specified for one particular opening to allow easy access for cleaning. Another primary window was fitted with a single side hung casement, designed to suit the existing fenestration.

The Varitrans has been independently impact/pressure tested and works in tandem with externally installed louvred panels to provide free air space to residents of high-rise developments where wind and air pressure are at their strongest.

The Bike Storage Company worked with Ardmore Construction to supply, design and install a bespoke 358 Mesh Security Enclosure housing 120 Two Tier Cycle Racks plus a further 80 Two Tier Racks within an internal cycle store. The Bike Storage Company also provided the raised access floor. This high specification mesh enclosure was installed with 358 high security mesh cladding along with PIR lighting and fob access. The cycle enclosure and cycle racks were supplied with The Bike Storage Company’s 10-year manufacturing warranty & a 15-year no rust guarantee as well as BREEAM and Secured by Design compliance.

In keeping with the project’s prestigious specification, the washrooms feature a distinctive cast of luxury materials, from real wood veneer cubicles and decorative glass duct panelling to high performance hardware with an attractive copper-coloured finish.

nVent Thermal Management

To provide high quality instantaneous hot water, the developers were persuaded to move away from a conventional recirculation system to the higher efficiency single-pipe solution, using nVent RAYCHEM HWAT-M self regulating cable and the unique nVent RAYCHEM RayClic connection system. In addition, nVent RAYCHEM T2Red and T2Reflecta underfloor heating was used in the main living areas. The self-regulating cable could provide very responsive heating without overheating, thus avoiding damage to the high quality wooden flooring. Underfloor heating was also used in the bathrooms, using nVent RAYCHEM T2Quicknet. All fully integrated with the BMS to avoid individual controllers.

Oscar Iso-Mount Type1 achieves 90-minute fire rating

Oscar Acoustics, has achieved a 90-minute fire rating at BRE Group’s testing facility for its Iso-Mount Type1 ceiling mount. An isolating ceiling mount, Iso-Mount Type1 significantly reduces transmission of noise from the floor above but only loses 6mm of ceiling height. The mount was tested to BS EN 1365-2:2014 Fire Resistance Tests for Loadbearing Elements at BRE Group’s laboratory in Watford in December 2018. Iso-Mount Type1 can be specified for projects ranging from house conversion to flats, both new build and renovation, as well as shops, restaurants and other commercial soundproofing applications.

This works by circulating chilled water through the pipes to provide effective cooling in summer, countering the solar gain from the windows which are distributed evenly across the façade.

We’ve designed and installed a sleek new staff shower area and co-ordinating washrooms for an office in the heart of the City. We installed our highly engineered SGL floor-to-ceiling Marcato shower cubicles in grey with white pilasters to create an attractive striped effect finish. We also installed our Forza SGL lockers in a bespoke Z style. The washrooms, which feature our full height Alto Kristalla glass toilet cubicles, utlise the same colour palette. Our glass faced Concerto integrated duct panel system, bespoke Corian trough style vanity units and Tego storage solution complete the design.

We delivered a bespoke washroom design, with a stylish monochrome colour scheme for a co-working office space in the City. The bespoke Corian slab-style vanity tops with square counter top basins, supported on custom-made metal leg frame forms a key part of the contemporary design. The multi-functional mirror units above the vanities also conceal hand dryers and soap units. The same dark grey HPL laminate was used to face our full height Alto toilet cubicle doors, our Concerto integrated duct panels and modesty screens. We also installed our Forza Lockers to each floor for staff.

Crystal Palace Football Ground Fan Zone

Crystal Palace Football Club play at the legendary Selhurst Park Stadium, based in London. Crystal Palace Football Club has created a brand new 900m² `Fan Zone` which is divided into various settings, including stages, a huge LCD screen, dining areas, shops and a football skills exhibition space. Buzon UK were specified to supply the components to achieve the high live load requirements, which included voids of up to 500mm. The DPH Pedestal system was used, along with the Alfresco Floors Ebema range of high impact concrete pavers. Other areas on pedestals include artificial turf lawns, stages, walkways and ramps.

Event Cinemas have a presence across all states of Australia, catering to the public through over 80 establishments, providing entertainment to thousands annually. With the client objectives around providing a safe and enhanced experience, Classic provided a range of products for floor safety and easy accessibility for the visually impaired. Classic’s PBC102 black anodised aluminium stair nosing for broadloom carpeted steps complete with light grey colour insert were supplied and installed across the George St. premises. Classic also installed individual stainless steel tactile indicators across all access points, making them safe and accessible to all segments of the population.

The Genesis stair nosing, NHD24 has been specified to be used on all stair cases within the Total Oil floors. NHD24 is a rakeback nosing that provides excellent slip resistance whilst looking smart and stylish.

In designing its new HQ DocuSign wanted to break down barriers and find new ways of working to empower employees. Open plenum ceilings, polished concrete floors and warm timber express the space’s raw, contemporary architecture. Crina Toderic – Henry J Lyons, “…a number of meeting rooms had one solid wall with the remaining three being glazed. It was agreed Rockfon® Mono® Acoustic be installed for its high sound absorption. Being completely seamless, the system allowed us to easily integrate with the rest of the interior aesthetic.”

This development shows the diversity and rapid installation of both the ProRend EIFS rail system and ProWall rainscreen cladding. Following our calculations of wind loads, u Values, specifications and CAD details, Building Control accepted our proposed systems and work began. SAS carried out 8 further site visits ensuring quality installation at all stages.

The complex benefits from the energy saving and heat retaining properties found with the ProRend EIFS system. Design assistance and multiple site visits from our technical team ensured the architect's vision for this high-profile hotel could be achieved. Platinum grade EPS was chosen as the insulation due to excellent thermal properties. Fire breaks were installed horizontally at every floor and vertically between every room using mineral wool lamella slabs. Finished using ProRend Colourtex Uniform, a flexible silicone thin coat render.

Style was contracted to deliver flexible space to the meeting areas, installing four fully automatic Skyfold moveable walls finished in a stunning Kvadrat Floyd fabric. Housed discreetly in the ceiling cavity, Skyfold units take up zero floor space when not required, descending gracefully at the touch of the button to quickly sub-divide an area. With impressive 59dB Rw acoustic integrity, events can run concurrently, entirely undisturbed on either side of the wall. Fidelity has installed nearly 50 Skyfold walls in offices across the globe.

A trio of Stannah Maxilift motor room-less passenger lifts has delivered residential access for all at King Edward VII Estate, West Sussex. Completed in 1906, this Grade II* listed former sanatorium has been renovated and converted into 162 sumptuous apartments, duplexes and communal facilities set within eight acres of Registered Gardens in the South Downs National Park, with full resident access to the 165-acre estate. Original features have been restored, conserved and further enhanced with über-modern updates to include the three Stannah 8-person, motor room-less (MRLi) Maxilifts supplementing stair access over three and five floors.

Global engineering consultancy, WSP, recently relocated 850 Manchester-based staff to new offices situated in the prestigious, No8 First Street building. The refurbished office space focuses on the wellbeing of employees, creating relaxing spaces where they can unwind and spend time with colleagues. Contributing to this positive lifestyle environment, Style installed two DORMA Varitrans glass moveable walls, effectively separating breakout areas and creating either two smaller rooms or one large open plan space. A further eight DORMA Variflex, fully automatic moveable walls were installed across two other floors, allowing WSP to create three larger meeting rooms or seven smaller ones.

Stamford Station Refurbishment Project

As part of the Railway Upgrade Plan, Platform 1 at Stamford Station in Lincolnshire was recently refurbished. Careful consideration resulted in the use of Twinfix Multi-Link-Panels Non-Fragile to replace the old curved corrugated roofing of the canopy and the end result is more in keeping with the original age and design of this elegant Grade II listed building. Passengers and staff are now all benefiting from the high levels of natural light that floods the platform.

StormCrates Provide Storm Water Management at Poplar Grove Development Site

To reduce the risk of flooding during times of excessive rainfall, the developer of 8 luxury homes on a site in Lower Pilsley, near Chesterfield, required a drainage solution that could be integrated within the site and found the solution in StormCrate, an engineered Sustainable Drainage System (SuDS). A total of 110 StormCrate modular units were used to create a 29m? underground storage tank capable of holding 29,000 litres of rainwater and this was wrapped in an impermeable geomembrane to create a sealed underground tank.

Victoria Works was built in 1913, and was originally designed as one of England's first cinemas. It remained the White Palace Cinema until 1934 and since then the building has been occupied by various businesses. The Strada restaurant chain selected the Victoria Works Building for their new Harpenden branch in 2010. Clement’s EB24 steel window range created the stunning feature curved windows for the front elevation. The wall of the front elevation was opened up to insert the new windows that flood the restaurant with masses of natural light.

The Victoria Gate development is home to the flagship store of the classic British brand, John Lewis. The diagrid-patterned façade is made from struts of etched concrete and is punctured by an array of Guardian SunGuard® SuperNeutral™ 70/35 coated glass windows which add a unique sense of order and rhythm to the façade. The natural blue colour of the SN 70/35 glass works beautifully with the subtle tones of the concrete, whilst flooding the arcade space in natural light.

The Clifton Campus at Nottingham Trent University has recently undergone a major investment programme to enhance the facilities for the 8,000 students who are based at this site. Part of this multi-million pound spend was the creation of The Pavilion, a space for students to meet and study with full height glazing flooding the space with light. To help control light and glare the lower sections of the curtain walling were shaded by Dearnleys using the Astralux 3000 roller system. These blinds were fitted with screen fabric with a 1% openness.

Natural stone paving using pedestals - Douglas, Isle of Man

This was a large roof terrace on a private domestic project. The area was flooded and had needed to be re-laid with waterproofing and a significant fall constructed into the deck to allow the often considerable amounts of rainwater to escape the roof deck. The contractor asked Wallbarn for a suitable but cost effective solution so we recommended Wallbarn 9mm rubber supports along with levelling shims. The area was re-waterproofed in the inverted waterproofing method, the membrane being covered with rigid insulation boards and a loose laid geotextile fabric to act as a separation layer .
