A thick tile floor covering meant a reduced floor section buildup, plus reduced construction joints to aid tiling. Ground floor 45mm Gyvlon ECO over 90mm insulation on a beam and block substrate First Floor 45mm Gyvlon ECO on a precast plank substrate. Gyvlon was used to reduce the floor build on both floors plus reducing the need for construction joints. This gave the client more flexibility on the thick floor coverings and eased installation with reduced construction joints.

A comprehensive rooflight solution was supplied to the new £33 million Oriam, Scotland’s Sports Performance Centre, creating a light airy environment which offers exceptional thermal comfort for athletes.
Designed by Reiach and Hall Architects, the centre features a full-size indoor synthetic football pitch, two sports halls and other facilities. This building features a unique curved roof, incorporating a combination of rooflight systems that maximised daylight and limited heat gain.
The products chosen were a combination of Ritchlight mono pitched rooflights and Xlok Ultra panel glazing systems, vented and unvented, ensured the differing aesthetic and performance requirements were met.
Concealed door closer help to maintain Kipling's spirit

Powermatic controlled, concealed door closers have been used by the Rocco Forte group to retain the high-end aesthetics of rooms and suites at Brown’s Hotel, one of London’s most elegant boutique residences.
A total of 75 rooms have been fitted with the door closers, amongst them a new suite named in honour of Rudyard Kipling, who is believed to have written The Jungle Book whilst staying there.
David Rozmetov, the hotel’s chief engineer, states, “We did not want to use surface-mounted door closers because they would spoil the appearance of our exquisite interiors.”

Architects, Stanton Williams specified concealed fittings for all apartment entrance doors to ensure that nothing spoiled the appearance.

Over 2,300m² of Protan SE 1.2mm PVC single-ply membrane was installed in the Protan Prefabricated roof system at Wilmslow Garden Centre, Cheshire.
The main driver behind the installation of this roof system was the time constraint placed upon the roofing contractor for installation of the roof.
Using Protan's unique ProPlan CAD software, a bespoke solution was created for the project - prefabricated rolls of membrane measuring 3.96x8.00m were manufactured to span the barrels of the roof.
This minimised on-site waste and reduced on-site hot air welding by 1,080 linear metres.

Areas of the roof had been leaking, leading to considerable water damage and disruption to some classrooms. The priority for the roof works was to procure a waterproofing system with minimal hot works that would cause as little disruption to the school’s everyday activities as possible.

The site, developed by Miller HomesHomes, is a mixture of 2 and 3 bedroom properties located just off the A1 motorway within close proximity of the Metro Centre. PIV was installed to meet the requirements of energy efficient ventilation in accordance with Part F of the Building Regulations and to meet the SAP requirements for code level 3. A BBA approved PIV unit is a recognised system within the Building Regulations and can achieve an attractive SAP rating.

Replacing an Original 1949 Roofing Waterproofing System Including New Rooflights

Perry Hall Academy, a large primary school built in 1949, with original waterproofing still in-situ.
IKO assisted the Academy funding bid by providing a detailed survey report, including intrusive core sample analysis. The roofs were suffering from water ingress, cracks in the mastic asphalt, pooled water and poor heat retention, so decision was made to replace the roofs throughout.
New rooflights were also specified to allow more natural light in while the design chosen reduced the external noise transmission.
IKO worked with specifier Concept Education Services to deliver the project (some work during term-time) within 6 months.

Over 300 Spectus Elite 70 System windows were used in the construction of a new build retirement village in Chorley.
Chorley Council commissioned a 65 apartment retirement village to provide those aged 55 and above with an independent living space with access to care and support. The development, Primrose Gardens, is part of the Council’s strategic masterplan.
The Elite 70 System was able to meet the requirement & within the budget. It is a five- chamber system, which increases thermal performance, meaning it is capable of achieving a Window Energy Rating of A+ and U-values to 0.8W/m2K

The Liquasil liquid gutter lining system was specified to provide a seamless, flexible liner.
Heavy and loose rust was first removed and the surface was treated with Liquasil SWT Primer, a marine quality rust treatment.
Joints were sealed with non-Sag Sealer and then Liquasil One was applied to the entire surface.

A Mapei system of flooring products has been specified as part of a major refurbishment at the Imperial War Museum. The historic museum is being sympathetically transformed to mark the centenary of the First World War. Mapei’s high performance cementitious flooring system, Ultratop, was chosen to complement the exhibits and provide low maintenance, coupled with resistance to heavy pedestrian traffic.
Mapei’s flooring system was specified throughout a 5,000m2 floor area. The system combined Mapei Topcem rapid-drying screed, Primer SN and Ultratop - a technologically advanced self-smoothing cementitious floor in Anthracite.
