The bench seating was used on most rows to provide a 144 capacity theatre which can be used for lectures, family shows and events. The White Collar Factory will be a mixed-use are of workspace, residential and retail, designed by architects, AHMM. The development, sited on London's City Road, comprises a new 16-storey office tower, a new public square and refurbished existing buildings to the rear. The new 2-storey basement has been waterproofed using a Type C system applied internally, to provide drained protection in accordance with BS 8102: 2009. The waterproofing was supplied by Triton Systems.

As part of a £2m re-development of the 21 floors a new reception was created. Blinds were required to reduce heat and light gain in this highly glazed reception space. Pentel proposed the Astralux 3000 heavy duty roller blind system with just three blinds required to shade over 50 square metres of curtain walling.

A good example of the before and after effects of laying a sedum roof garden and accompanying deck and paved area onto a small domestic roof terrace. All these products are designed to sit on top of the waterproof membrane (in this case single ply) there was no issue of damage to the roof. The support pads lifted the decking off the roof, eliminating the risk of the timber piercing the membrane, and drainage was maintained through the roof surface since the green roof system has a cavity beneath its own reservoir and drainage layer to allow water run-off.

Installing roofing contractors Hodgson and Allon liaised with IKO to refine the specification to meet the client’s requirements. This included a full strip and re-cover with a flame free system to carry a 20 year guarantee. IKO chose an IKO Mach One single layer bituminous system incorporating a site specific cut-to-fall system. This project was a complex roof replacement system with multi-trades required for specialist operations.

This solar collector in natural slate covers this family needs for hot water while enhancing the aesthetics and efficiency of their home. Five solar collectors over a total surface of 6.45 square meters, were more than enough to generate the energy required to cover the hot water needs of this family. The main component of the collectors is natural slate, extracted directly from our quarries and specially selected to ensure perfect fit and performance.

This new building is a state-of-the-art facility which will house a communications centre and support functions, along with a range of other departments. It will hold over 600 staff. Newcastle architects Ryder’s were entrusted to design this facility with lightweight modern building materials. The facade was a rainscreen design offering better performance and a wide range of cladding materials. Ti-tiles dynamic Facades Engineered Ston rainscreen system in white silk finish makes up the bulk of the external skin with feature areas of Aerolite Granite polished strategically located to enhance the design.

Over 1,200m² of Protan SE 1.2mm PVC single-ply membrane was installed in the Protan Vacuum roof system at Butlins Splashworld, Skegness. The roof system required no mechanical restraint or adhesives (except for around the roof perimeter and penetrations), as it relies upon the wind to keep the membrane in place with the help of Protan vacuum vents installed at locations designed by Protan's Technical Services Department. William Bird of Protan partner roofing contractor, Roofdec Ltd, commented, "Protan's vacuum roof system is quicker to install than conventional fully-adhered or mechanically-fixed systems."

The project is a new car dealership situated between the M4 flyover and the site of Brentwood FC's new stadium. The construction comprises a watertight concrete base with welded sheet piled walls and a watertight concrete capping beam to provide a Type B integral waterproofing solution to BS 8102 (2009). On top of the slab is a steel framed structure.

The Excelsior Building is a new addition to the impressive Haberdashers’ Aske’s School campus in Borehamwood. The courtyard comprises planted beds, with social spaces and pathways in a mix of resin-bound gravels and synthetic grass surfaces. To allow pupils to enjoy this new outdoor space a seating system was required that was sufficiently flexible, and RailRoad was the ideal choice. The design of the RNLI Station at Bridlington needed to mix practicalities with aesthetics as it stands in a prime location on the Spa Promenade. Echoing Art Deco lines, building materials were chosen for both design impact and durability. With this in mind a stainless steel rainwater system from Yeoman Rainguard was chosen, 145 x 165mm box gutters and 80mm dia. downpipes were fitted complementing the sleek linear appearance of the lifeboat house. The roofs required engineered horizontal lifeline systems for workers to be kept safe while performing periodic maintenance tasks. These systems had to be robustly designed to arrest a worker’s fall and also protect the building envelope from damage in the event of a fall.
