2 X Lorry Lifts from Road to Basement in Central London

Lödige Industries

The Client in Central London wanted to avoid traffic delays and congestion by having waste collected directly from the basement of the building. Two Lorry Lifts were designed, manufactured and installed by Lodige to take rubbish tucks and delivery vans directly to the basement from the road. Both lifts are 20 tonnes and extremely efficient. Much more space is saved by using a lift rather than concrete ramp.

The Goodwood Estate was built in the 1600s and opened its doors to race enthusiasts in 1948 to host Britain’s very first post-war motor race meeting. The track’s complex history involved a painstaking restoration throughout the 1990s and in 1993 the Festival of Speed was established in the grounds of Goodwood Park. Over the last two decades, the festival has become world renowned and attracts the best drivers and vehicles, including the most current Formula 1 teams, Le Mans winners, racing motorcycles, and supercars.

Ports of Jersey Ferry Terminal

Gerflor Ltd

In 2017 Ports of Jersey (who operate the airport and ferry terminal) announced a progressive plan to create an integrated arrivals and departures terminal. The project could potentially have caused major passenger disruption and possible closure of some airside and landside businesses. Happily, international flooring specialist Gerflor were on hand to supply their high-quality GTI Max fast track flooring solution that would provide a quick and effective solution with no need for any shutdown of the airport operation.

Whilst considering various options, IKO provided Bellway Homes with information on their asphalt based IKO Permascreed system, which was compatible with the IKO Permatec solution to follow. The application of IKO Permascreed not only ensures fast track application, but also provides a temporary waterproofing layer prior to installation of the IKO Permatec top layer. Once cured the IKO Permascreed layer was robust enough to accept the type of traffic and concentrated loads associated with the installation of a flat roof waterproofing system.

It was completely new building that would facilitate pupils with complex medical needs and autism, so creating an accessible, safe, secure environment was incredibly important. Sir Edward Weary Dunlop Retirement Village, VIC

Rondo Building Services Pty Ltd

The Sir Edward Weary Dunlop Retirement Village has been completed with the help of architect, builder and contractor Ryman Healthcare. The 134-unit age care facility will house serviced care units and independent living units for the elderly with resort-style facilities. Rondo assisted in the development of this project, supplying a number of products including Stud and Track (64mm and 92mm x 0.55BMT), KEY-LOCK Suspended Ceiling Systems and MAXIjamb Systems for the large window and door openings leading onto balconies.

Twinfix Limited

The Multi-Link-Panel system glazed with Georgian wired polycarbonate from pioneering polycarbonate roofing supplier Twinfix was specified by Network Rail for the entrance canopy element of a £1 million refurbishment of historic Wigan Wallgate station in Lancashire. The glazing panels, each comprising fast-track “fix and link” aluminium structural bars glazed with 6mm solid Georgian wired polycarbonate, were pre-assembled at Twinfix’s factory in Warrington, Cheshire, for delivery to site for installation by specialist contractor Everlast Rail.

Supplying this unique project with Rondo Steel Stud and Track and KEY-LOCK Systems, Rondo have ensured that any onsite issues have been successfully addressed with the support of Rondo’s technical and design team.

Hawa Sliding Solutions AG

The basement of a chalet in the Waadtländer Alps was converted into a self-contained apartment. As fixed components of the multi-functional element, the sliding doors play a rhythmical game with the adjacent monochrome niches. When closed, the rear wall appears homogeneous as it is made completely of fir wood. The striking colour scheme that becomes visible when the doors are pushed to the side indicates various functions. The architects chose HAWA Junior 80 B hardware for the three sliding doors that run in a concealed track.

HDS Ramp heating system fitted at luxury project in Ascot

This exclusive development required a heated ramp system, to make sure all residents have all year access to the car parking area. HDS designed and installed 8 bespoke heated driveway mats, creating 4 x 0.6m wide heated tracks for 2-way traffic down to the underground carpark. The heated ramp is controlled by an HDS ice and snow melting control, with 2 ground/moisture sensors and one air temperature sensor, to maximise the efficiency of the system.

Aerial Direct secured a 26,000 sq. ft site in Fareham. The client appointed the workspace specialists at Spectrum Workplace with a complete design and build of this ambitious project. Boasting a plenty of natural lighting, the scheme is using the multi-optic linear downlight FOSS as the main luminaire of the whole scheme. It is a welcome change from traditional office lighting, using more of a subtle approach. The track lighting system Wey was used in the breakout spaces as architectural feature lighting. The slim linear profile RIO was installed in a random pattern in the reception area.

Bolton Gate protect Grade 1 listed building at Witley Court

Bolton Gate Company

Witley Court is a ruined Italianate mansion built in the seventeenth century and expanded in the early nineteenth century by the Architect John Nash. In 1937 a major accidental fire broke out and whilst the building is in ruins, it is Grade I listed and in the care of English Heritage who restored the formal gardens and fountains. Bolton Gate were engaged to design and manufacture gates replacement gates to provide night-time security with special folding bottom tracks to leave the floor surface intact and installed with great care to maintain the building’s status.

Structural Drainage - Deckdrain A14 Cambridge to Huntington, UK

The A14 trunk road running between M1 Catthorpe Interchange and Felixstowe carries around 8500 vehicle a day. The project to upgrade the carriageway involved the construction of many large structures. These required drainage that could be quickly and safely installed. Traditional Methods requiring the use of manual handling equipment and site restrictions meant this method was problematic. Deckdrain 750S/ST170 and Deckdrain 1250S/ST170 were chosen to withstand passive earth movement. Deckdrain allowed for quick and easy installation reducing labour costs and vehicle movements on site.

ANS Group Global

With trees, a living wall and sedum panels teeming with wildflowers between the tram tracks, this stop has been transformed into an oasis right in the heart of Manchester. ANS Global worked on the project from the initial stages when the living wall was just a concept. There were many unique challenges encountered, not least being that the living wall actually runs behind the glass balustrade of the staircase. Very careful attention was paid to plant selection in order to create a wall that would thrive and flourish in the contrasting light levels.

Artform Urban Furniture supplied products from the Multiplicity range for the development of a new emergency care centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The overall project was constructed within a tight budget and the street furniture supplied by Artform needed to be of a very high standard, ergonomically designed for comfort and all delivered within the economic constraints. The products also had to be on site and installed within a short time frame, due to the fast track nature of the project. The products chosen include Seats, Benches and Litter Bins.

Novotel, Canary Wharf

Planet Partitioning

Built to celebrate the Novotal brand’s 50th anniversary, the flagship hotel is housed in a 39-floor skyscraper in the heart of the City. Planet worked with Inco Projects to provide an interior glazing solution for the gym and meeting room areas. To complement the industrial aesthetic of the hotel, LOFT100 was used throughout the project, paired with SonoTec double glazed doors with aluminium tracks applied in the same width and colour, providing a uniform style throughout. With LOFT100 achieving up to 56dB Rw and SonoTec up to 42dB Rw, the privacy of the hotel’s guests was ensured.

Profile 22 Flush Tilt and Turn windows have been used in the construction of flats for University of Derby students.

The developer of the new build flats was Jensco Holdings Ltd and the main contractor was Clegg Construction. The design, manufacture and installation of the windows on the project was undertaken by Profile 22 Approved Window Contractor Kingfisher Windows. As a member of the Approved Window Contractors Scheme, Kingfisher has demonstrated a wealth of experience in the management of large contract supply and installation and working proactively towards on-time and on-budget completion. The company’s track record was one of the factors that saw Kingfisher secure the window contract for Agard Court through competitive tender.

Ted Todd Fine Wood Floors

Studio Ted Todd had the pleasure of working with the Dior team on their new world flagship store on New Bond Street which opened at the beginning of the Summer. The team were tasked with creating a floor synonymous of the Dior quality and also to tribute the brand, look and feel of the store’s interior. Bespoke Parquet de Versailles panels, bespoke planks and chevrons were crafted for the project, resulting in an intricate yet striking look. Meeting the strict delivery times ensured the scheduled opening time remained on track.

Stair Edgings, Matting & Carpet - Tranmere Rovers


The Solar Campus development will see both the first team and academy training at the same venue for the first time. It has a total of eight football pitches. Anthony Roberts, Product Manager for Gradus, commented: “The Tranmere Rovers facility required a package of products designed to withstand a large amount of footfall and provide safe access in a building where flooring contamination is common. The products specified work in conjunction with each other to help prevent dirt and debris being tracked around the building and ensure slip accidents are reduced.”

Ping An Finance Center is an iconic 115 story skyscraper in Shenzhen, China. Reaching 600 metres high, this striking building was completed in 2017, making it the world’s fourth tallest building and the second tallest in China. Jotun was chosen as the single source provider due to our long track record of multi-divisional, complex projects. Jotun Protective Coatings and Powder Coatings were specified to protect the steel structure and façades. An ideal choice, confirmed by both the contractor and applicator, due to Jotun’s consistent application properties under varying environments and construction conditions.

Franke products all comply with CE Mark standards, WRAS and BMA water saving standards too, all products are guaranteed to perform for decades. Alan Castleton, Managing Director of Castle Building Services explains “The refurbishment of the washroom is a prestigious contract for us so we obviously wanted to deliver an outstanding job with products that will perform for many years. The recent CAT B refurbishment situated on the 6th floor of the Lexicon Building in Manchester sees not only a stylish transformation of a vacant space, but also a unique opportunity to showcase Hollis' real commitment to sustainability. We created the lighting layout and a luminaire schedule, based on the client’s specification. Our team provided technical advice and working samples. In the main open plan office designed to accommodate 25 workstations, the designer’s favourite Rio Suspended was specified in matte black colour. In the quiet working area, Venta Track was used allowing the feature wall to stand out.

Independent special school provides safety and security for pupils with 358 mesh

Jacksons Fencing

Hope View Independent School is a boys only institution that works with 7-18 year olds who have behavioural and learning difficulties. The school is situated close to a major transport route and along the same road as the train station. We supplied and installed 20m of Securi-Mesh® 358 fencing 2.44m high to replace existing fencing that was close to the train station and track. In addition to the fencing, we installed a single leaf Securi-Mesh® matching gate which has the same properties as the fencing, meaning there are no weak gaps in the perimeter.

Sliding Door Hardware for Shanghai Disneyland, China

The architectural consultant required sliding gear that was capable of moving two large gates with a weight of 3500kg. Our Straight Sliding 307 hardware was specified for its unique product capacity of 2000kg. We worked closely with the fabricator to come up with a solution to meet the weight capacity of the large gates and were able to find a solution by merging four hangers into one to effortlessly carry the gates. Due to their large size, the fabricator installed the 307 sliding hardware, together with the gates, on-site, utilising; 11 tracks, 18 hangers, 60 brackets and 10 stops.

Procter Cast Stone

We manufactured and delivered wall copings that complimented the natural stone walling. We had a three week window to manufacture and deliver the stone from receiving the order. All the stone had to be installed before the grand opening of the store. The order comprised of a mixture of straight and radius copings. We provided various colour samples to choose the suitable match. The order was fast tracked through the drawing department, the units were manufactured and delivered to site on time. The cast stone copings provide both a functional and aesthetically pleasing entrance for Ikea Sheffield.

Neaco decking provides innovative cycle park at cutting edge offices


Neaco’s Techdek aluminium decking has been specified for an innovative internal cycle park at the XYZ building, a cutting edge workspace in Manchester designed by Cartwright Pickard. Robert Phillips, Associate at Cartwright Pickard, said: “We specified Techdek for the cycle ramp due its robust construction and the simplicity of its design – the modular nature of its construction, its excellent drainage capabilities and the ribbed profile for surety under foot. Its track record of being used on similar, high profile projects gave us the confidence that the product was suitable for the application.”

Moving Designs were brought in to assist a special needs school in Surrey separate their Hall into two. They needed the ability to sub-divide their hall for simultaneous activities. We provided our top hung Prestige Moveable Wall to enable them to accomplish this. The panels were finished in a stylish ash laminate, providing 45dB Rw acoustic performance. The Prestige offers an effective space solution, with an acoustic insulation of up to 58dB noise reduction. When the seals are retracted they will glide effortlessly along the unique overhead track. Enabling the Hall to be transformed in a matter of minutes.

St Margarets Head Railway Tunnel

The now disused St Margaret’s Head Tunnel was a structure originally formed as part of the Dunfermline to North Queensferry railway line, providing a link to the ferry service until the opening of the Forth Bridge in 1890 and remaining in limited use for freight until 1954. The vaulted roof and brick lined tunnel is located 15 metres below the A900 trunk road and the B981, adjacent to the northern approach to the Forth Road Bridge. Cordek were asked to supply a structural fill solution, encapsulated within a protective membrane to fill the entire cavity of the tunnel.

Family-owned German hospital group Schoen Clinic opened their first private medical facility located on Wigmore Street, London. The clinic includes 39 en-suite inpatient rooms across three top floors of the building, along with consultation rooms, therapy and office space on the first floor, and three theatres located in the basement. Our scope of work included bespoke joinery with Corian® worktops and sinks, a mixture of base and wall units with integrated glove and apron dispensers, IPS systems, lockable drugs cabinets and curtain tracks.

Ingenious Flexible Space Design from Style

Style - Moveable Partition Specialists

Drawing on over 20 years of experience installing operable walls, Style was recently challenged to come up with a solution to divide a large meeting area, despite there being no suitable structure in the ceiling to utilise as a fixing point. After some lateral thinking and close communication with the client, a non-structural timber frame was created for support, with the weight of the folding wall being transferred to the ground via a surface mounted floor track. A Stylefold 120 folding wall system was chosen as the only operable wall that could realistically accommodate the room structure.

As leading players in the perimeter security and access control market with an established track record in working within the education sector, Jacksons Fencing were appointed by The Landscape Partnership to install suitable fencing and gate solutions which would complement the new schools features whilst fitting within the wider regeneration within the local district. Providing a strong, durable physical barrier to segregate the school from the outside world, EuroGuard Flatform fencing was the product of choice. The welded mesh vandal proof panels boast a flat profile delivering an anti-climb design with no hand or foot holds.

Mackie Mayor Food Hall in Manchester's Northern Quarter

Bolton Gate Company

This Grade II listed building was first opened in 1858 by Mayor Mackie of Manchester as part of the Smithfield fresh produce market but it remained empty and neglected for years until recently restored to its’ former glory. In addition to the large seating area in the main restaurant hall, a rear external annex was created with a glass roof in keeping with the building’s semi-industrial heritage. Bolton Gate Company were commissioned to design, manufacture and install collapsible gates with special removable bottom tracks to accommodate the sloping floor level to seal off this area when outside trading hours.

Designed by 442 Design, the Cat B scheme celebrates the rich football heritage of the club through the immaculate interior design whilst offering an inspirational place to work. From putting forward suitable products for the client’s sign off and providing working samples, to full lighting design and lighting calculations. RIO Suspended was used as the main office luminaire throughout the whole scheme. The murals and artwork on the walls were lit with the track lighting system Suna. The main meeting room features a large ‘football pitch’ table, the circular feature luminaire Rydal was used to mirror the centre circle.

Cutting Drainage & Reinforcement, Erosaweb & Fildrain, Luton Dunstable Busway, Bedfordshire, UK

ABG creative geosynthetic engineering

Luton Dunstable Busway is a new construction connecting two Bedfordshire towns. The Busway comprises of twin tracks 6m wide allowing two directional travel. The guide way has a low noise surface and needed to minimise the impact on neighbouring properties. During the build it was necessary to steepen the slopes along both sides whilst maintaining their green finish. A solution for drainage was also required to remove the need for excavated stone. ABG proposed Erosaweb which can contain top soil in their three dimensional structure. ABGs Fildrain provided the drainage capacity at a fraction of the depth of stone.

Husky 100 Sliding Door Hardware used for Display Unit by Ralpine Design

The project was to create a partitioned living space with the requirements of ample storage, traditional style, integrated LED lighting and a sliding door mechanism. After seeking advice from our Holland office, Ralpine Designs decided that our Husky 100 sliding door hardware was the right project for the job. Using a library and display unit, the living room and dining room could be separated into two rooms or opened up as one big room when required. The system was used to hold two biparting wooden doors, utilising a face fixed aluminium track for added quality.

Scottish Water

MIW Water Cooler Experts

Successfully supplied 35 outdoor drinking fountains and bottle refill stations to be installed across Scotland. Each unit was branded with the organisation’s bespoke livery and, Scottish Water adapted to feature tracking devices to monitor each fillers use. All units supplied were WRAS approved, outdoor rated, stainless steal and vandal resistant to ensure they can both withstand cold Scottish weather as well as mitigate any damage that may occur. Throughout the project, the MIW team were able to suggest improvements and equipment upgrades which would negate the potential for future unit failure and damage.
