CMS Danskin were able to provide Regupol 4515 (REGUPOL sonus eco) to the prestigious new Gateway project in central Leeds. As the city centre’s largest residential project to date, it has also provided the area with a luxury landmark.In keeping with high-end living, the interior design of the new build project incorporated a number of characteristic atrium and foyer spaces. While this lack of uniformity gave the building and its apartments an impressive level of individuality, it also created irregular shaped rooms which were difficult to work with from a finishing perspective.The finish of the apartments incorporated tiles throughout all of the bathroom and shower areas. To comply with Part E impact sound regulations, an acoustic flooring system had been specified for use under the tiled floor finish. However, when the tile fitters began installation, a number of challenges emerged.Phil Johnson, building development manager at Aqua Interiors, explains:“The acoustic matting and adhesive combination we were initially using at The Gateway caused us a few problems. There were issues from the tile fitters regarding application of the adhesives, and the over flexibility of the system meant that the grouting was cracking and crumbling once the surface was subjected to weight and traffic.” As the tiling contractors were already on-site, a reliable alternative that would meet Part E standards for impact sound had to be sourced and delivered against extremely tight timescales.The SolutionAs the only acoustic tiling system on the market to comply with the UK Tiling Association’s (TTA)Coefficient of Restitution figure (0.56), a test method to assess the impact resistance of ceramic floor tiling, Regupol Acousti-Tile was identified as the best solution to overcome the difficulties being experienced at The Gateway.The main component in the Regupol Acousti-Tile system is Regupol 4515 Multi (REGUPOL sonus eco), a high performance acoustic underlay which isolates impact sound at source. Regupol 4515 Multi (REGUPOL sonus eco), which can be used with any finish, is first bonded to the construction’s base floor using Ardex AF200.Tiles are then laid on top of Regupol 4515 Multi (REGUPOL sonus eco) using BAL Acousti-Bond adhesive. The acoustic tiling system is completed by filling in the joints using an appropriate grout finish, which is dependent upon whether the base floor is concrete or timber.As a complete acoustic tiling system, all components of Regupol Acousti-Tile are delivered to site in a single delivery. Regupol 4515 Multi (REGUPOL sonus eco) and the complete Regupol range is available exclusively in the UK through CMS Acoustics.The ResultThe quality of the finished bathroom environments is in keeping with the ambition and attention to detail of The Gateway project overall. By installing RegupolAcousti-Tile, Aqua Interiors has ensured that the impressive tiled floor surfaces will not cause residents disruption because of excessive noise transfer between dwellings.Having undergone independent site trials, Regupol Acousti-Tile has been shown to achieve an impact sound value of up to 52dB, which is significantly less than the 62dB required by Part E of the Building Regulations.Johnson concludes: “All of the environments were around 4-5m², but there was a great deal of variation in the room shapes and sizes, meaning there were some changes to the setting once we were on-site.Regupol Acousti-Tile was versatile enough to cope with any changes we made – the Regupol 4515 Multi (REGUPOL sonus eco) element was easy to trim and shape while BAL Acousti-Bond offered the same.

For this project, Wienerberger's 20/20 roof tiles in Antique Slate were used to reduce installation costs and completion times. Bicester Village is a designer outlet centre situated on the outskirts of Bicester, a town in Oxfordshire. It opened in 1995 and has become hugely popular. Hugo Boss, the luxury fashion brand, selling clothing, accessories and footwear needed advice for their textured tiled floor in their new store opening at the designer outlet. The beautiful high texture tiled floor was calculated to be approximately 300m2. When considering such a large expanse of tile it is important to use movement joints. Hard flooring expands and contracts, a movement joint prevents the tiles and grout from cracking and deboning.

Our Rivius slate roof tiles and appearance roof tiles and Ashington Red Multi brick were specificed for a very impressive project in Hull.

Extensive edging was required for the courtyards to delineate hard and soft landscapes. During a site visit, BAM asked us to also supply planters, benches, tiles and accessories for the terraces. This required a full supply and install package. Two 80m walkways were lined with 1.2 x 0.6m Atria tiles. One walkway was built on top of extensive M&E pipework so a bespoke steel pipe cover system was needed to support the tiles. Atria beige tiles were also used on four of the terraces to surround CorTen steel Planterline bespoke planters with inset iroko timber seating.

This amazing swimming pool refurbishment project in Knutsford, Cheshire was undertaken by Abstract Pools Ltd. Tiles from Designworks and more than 100 JACKOBOARD® construction boards were used.Manufactured with an extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam core and a special coating on both sides, JACKOBOARD® construction boards form an ideal base for tiling. The surfaces of the JACKOBOARD® system provide an extremely strong bond and can be used on virtually any substrate. The boards are waterproof, thermally insulating, truly lightweight and very strong. This combination of characteristics makes them ideal for pool hall work. The result of this refurbishment is absolutely stunning and the owners of the property are delighted unsurprisingly.The owner was abroad while the renovation was carried out. The pool was situated in the basement of the house and had been left empty for a few years. The contractor was tasked with refurbishing the pool hall and bringing it back to life. They stripped everything back to the existing substrate, and then rendered and screeded the pool itself, the jacuzzi and the pool surrounds.A new steam room was added, using JACKOBOARD®. All of the pool hall walls were lined with JACKOBOARD®, ready to receive tiles. All tiles on this project were supplied by Designworks Tiles, the specialists in tiles and mosaics for swimming pools and spas. Ceramic tiling contractors P.Plunkett recommended Howe Green Medium Duty 7500 Series 316 Grade Stainless Steel Floor Access Covers as a reliable and safe solution for accessing the pool sumps and pool balance tanks located beneath the tiling in the pool areas at East Riding Leisure Centre. Nine 7500 Series access covers were fitted into the ceramic tiled floor around the pool surround and infilled with antislip porcelain floor tiles to provide a flush finish, that is functional and aesthetically pleasing. The 316 grade stainless steel cover is non-corrosive and will not rust, even in a swimming pool environment.

Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment and Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier have been used in the refurbishment of a thirty-year-old Routemaster bus to create a library for children at Tolworth Nursery. On the top deck of the bus, Stopgap 700 flexible smoothing underlayment was applied over a firmly secured plywood subfloor. On both floors, Styccobond F41 carpet tile tackifier was used to install premium fibre-bonded carpet tiles. Styccobond F66 solvent-free contact adhesive was used to install carpet tiles on the bus’s staircase. Stycco Flex, a rapid-curing flexible adhesive, was then used to attach the aluminium stair nosings.

In order to complete the redevelopments, the site required a modern-design led carpet tile that needed to be fit for heavy contract use. Client prioritises sustainability with IOBAC MagTabs & new carpet tile kids on the BLOQRead how sustainability was prioritised at Oxford Technology Park, a major new office and research project, by specifiying adhesive-free MagTabs and BLOQ carpet tiles on raised metal access flooring.

The construction company wanted a strong aluminium profile that provides a simple, safe secure edge for steps covered in ceramic tiles. The flange sits underneath the tile and the top section protects the riser tile and prevents water ingress into the joint gap. The top section provides a perfect step edge with a grooved profile face for extra grip and has a generous 10-12mm deep front face to highlight the step edge from the bottom of the steps. Contractors decided Genesis NLM123 would fit perfectly and have since ordered 303 linea meters to be installed in Fragatta Tower, Colombia.

The Newton Station is an important architectural project with contemporary character located in Adelaide. Various surfaces and details of the Atlas Concorde grey porcelain range were used in the project, which is an excellent example of public architecture.Atlas Concorde porcelain tiles are characterised by top quality technical performance and aesthetics; it is perfect for high traffic architectural projects. Installed throughout the common room and seating areas on the ground floor, Times Square carpet tiles in colourways Grey and Natural complement the modern, contemporary design ofthe building and its interior. Furthermore, Skyline carpet tiles in colourways Trinity (beige) and Empire (grey) were installed throughout the corridors to the bedrooms.

La Roche Staircase & Cabochon Flooring.This magnificent staircase has been made in our masonry factory. Stoneworld use a digital templating system to record the necessary data from the site. This is then programmed into our water jet cutter, which precision cuts each piece of the staircase for a perfect fit. The staircase is made from La Roche Limestone in a brushed and honed finish. Note the bullnosed edges of the step treads, the matching risers, and the statement bottom step and riser.  Here the elongated step tread has curved ends and curved end blocks on the riser.The beautiful hallway floor has been made from La Roche limestone floor tiles in 900 x 600 format. However, in another part of the house a bespoke floor design has been created. La Roche has been used again, but with an accent tile incorporated into the design, made from Spanish Black Marble. The pattern has been achieved by water jet cutting every tile to the correct shape and size. i.e. each La Roche tile is 700 x 700 with corners cut off, and the Spanish marble tiles have been cut to 100 x 100.

We were recently approached by Lanark Golf Club to help with creating a playable pathway directly in front of the 18th green.The existing pathway, which was finished with a rubber topped concrete tile, was causing several problems. Shots were regularly landing directly on the path and the impact was too severe causing the ball often to bounce unfairly through the green. Also the smooth surface on the existing tiles was causing balls to run excessively to the left of the green following the natural slope of the path. Lastly the existing path was not particularly suitable to play shots off or to run balls across.We worked together to identify the 45mm thick Grassflex Play tiles as a suitable replacement. Testing indicated that the impact of the ball landing directly on the tile was far more comparable to turf than the previous solution, this was due to a combination of natural compression offered by the 45mm thick rubber and the drainage channels underside offering further absorption through the air pockets created. The top surface of the Grassflex Play tile also improved the absorption as well as providing a suitable surface to play a chip shot from and to roll a ball across, the grain of the grass also removed the issue of the ball running excessively to the left.Feedback on the job has been very positive and most importantly it looks good!

Stopgap 300 HD smoothing underlayment and Stopgap P131 primer have been used to create a ‘textbook perfect’ flooring finish at Amtico’s training academy. Firstly, ceramic tiles were removed from the existing concrete subfloor along with remaining adhesive. Next, Stopgap P131 primer was used to help promote adhesion. Stopgap 300 HD fast-drying, heavy-duty levelling compound was applied to create a smooth, durable base for the new floorcovering. Luxury vinyl tiles were installed using a vinyl adhesive. Finally, entryway matting was installed on one half of the prepared subfloor and carpet tiles were installed on the other half.
