Helo UK Ltd completed the installation of a wellness suite at Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate in Liphook, Hampshire. The installation comprised an attractive Herb sauna with a large feature window, heated by two Rocher designer sauna heaters loaded with 240 kilos of stones for excellent infusion. The other attractions include an Aroma steam room, ice fountain, heated loungers, heated bench and footspa combination.

BCM supplied these striking GRC ‘picture surrounds’ to the balconies of a residential development now known as Orwell House, on Baroness Road in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.The chequerboard pattern of the surrounds echoes the design of the blocks of the original estate, but their terracotta colour provides the new block with a radical, modern façade. The surrounds were expertly installed by BCM's partner installer, Henley Stone, who completed their installation in early 2020.

Overlooking the picturesque Tobermory harbour on the Island of Mull, Macgochans restaurant and bar showcases the best of Inner Hebridean hospitality and is popular with the local community and holidaymakers alike. Retaining its Scottish charm with original features such as its stone walls and fireplaces, the new interior design creates a visual separation between the cosy bar area and the more contemporary restaurant space with fresh natural materials and a neutral yet interesting colour palette.

A number of pre-existing farm structures have been reconstructed using CUPA PIZARRAS Heavy 3 slate in order to house a new Scottish whisky distillery, Ardross. Existing stone and slate from the location’s original, dilapidated farm buildings were salvaged and reused to rebuild much of the walls and roof of the development. However, Heavy 3 was selected to maintain a uniform aesthetic where the original slate could not be re-used.

Unilife provides premium student accommodation with an aim to deliver high-quality student experience.Accommodation availability is one of the many factors that most students consider when choosing which university to study at.Unilife wanted to expand their accommodation on offer at the main campus of the University of Surrey in Guildford and so turned to Stelling Properties and sort to found a solution in using  ROCKWOOL® RWA45 non-combustible stone wool insulation.

The space was divided up into two areas, one featuring stone paving and the other using artificial grass, the latter features a series of large rectangular WoodBlocX planters, bordered with integrated seating which utilise the height of the planters as a backrest. The paved area features a continuous WoodBlocX structure with a long, slim rectangular planter which acts as the backbone of the design and three large square planters extending outwards bordered with seating.

Wexham Hospital in Slough, Berkshire required a freestanding entrance canopy installed at the entrance to their A&E department. This canopy would provide cover to those entering and exiting the building, ensuring the internal floors were kept as dry as possible. The hospital staff were also finding that stone chippings were being brought into the building and flicking up into the mechanism of the electronic doors, resulting in the motors burning out and so a solution was also needed to solve this issue.

Given the setting of Millmount the choice of external building materials was very important. Lagan Homes wanted to use products and finishes that were aesthetically pleasing, in keeping with the developments surroundings, that were also high quality, durable, maintenance free and cost effective. For those reasons, Lagan Homes chose to use Colinwell Martello Stone Walling on facades and Colinwell’s Allan Block Retaining Wall System for house construction, earth retention andlandscaping purposes.

The work of a renowned architect’s studio in Duisburg, MSP Architekten GMBH, Königsgalerie shopping centre in Duisburg is a perfect example of style, excellence and aesthetic functionality.Some elements of the building are evoked by the designs on the floors. An arcade of 5,600 m², covered with the Trust porcelain stoneware series, paying homage to natural stones, in three colours (Ivory, Gold and Copper) using various sizes and cuts to create style virtuosity and guide visitors to the commercial path.

Nestled in the Northumberland countryside is Matfen Hall – a mansion built in the early 1800s. To ensure the Grade-II listed property retained its Gothic architecture, a "thoughtful and stylish" transformation was required. The age of the building meant lots of preparation was required to guarantee a smooth finish. Tiling specialist WRS overcame complexities including cutting around hexagonal stone columns, chamfered steps, work with handrail base plates, and adding nosing details to the spiral staircase.

Westbury Mayfair is one of London's true icons: it was the first 5-star hotel opened by the US chain Westbury in the British capital, in 1955. After the careful restoration works, renewing the charm of the whole hotel, all the rooms and suites have been fitted with Eikon Evo cover plates and control devices.

Architects at the Rathbone Partnership in South Devon contacted us in 2011 about a new feature in the garden of Buckfast Abbey. They had a creative and inventive plan to transform a section of the garden into a tranquil retreat for both the visitors and the monks. What a transformation! Dalton Retail Outlet Park in the North East was modernised in order to create a premium shopping destination. Contemporary external landscaping as well as lighting, bespoke planters, seating and signage were to be part of the planned renovations. Product suggestions made by the Artform team offered a consistent design and complemented the original brief, whilst offering a robust durable result and a cost effective solution. The Stone Bench, Treeline bench, FGP seats and FGP Litter Bins were chosen to suit the overall project theme.

Helo completed the installation of a new sauna at the Novotel Reading as part of an ongoing improvement program to their wet leisure facilities. The new room is contemporary styled, utilising subtle underbench and underseat lighting. A wide glass door allows easy, inclusive access for all. The sauna features the Rocher heater with a large capacity of stones which provides warm, comfortable radiant heat and is excellent for infusion. The seating has two tier benching which provides the option of different temperature zones within the sauna.

In 2022, BCM supplied grey GRC cladding to 'The Church Inn' in Manchester, a project which converted the vacant site of a former pub into much-needed student accommodation.The jewel in Church Inn's architectural crown is the large debossed lettering at the top of each of the building's four elevations, which – nine stories high – creates a landmark visible across the MMU campus and from The University of Manchester.The GRC we supplied to Church Inn was expertly installed by our partner installer, Henley Stone.

A large new-build office in the heart of Bristol, the Halo development features sandstone-coloured GRC fins and spandrels supplied by BCM GRC as the focal point of its eye-catching façade.Completed in December 2022, Halo was the first office building outside of London to achieve BREEAM Outstanding certification against new sustainability assessment criteria, making it one of the UK's most sustainable offices.The GRC we supplied to Halo was expertly installed by our partner installer, Henley Stone.

111 The Strand, is an eight storey landmark office and retail building in central London. The property occupies a corner position on the Strand with a return frontage to Savoy Place. The majority of the 30,549 ft² office space is let to CVC Capital Partners.The iconic building is well-known for its contemporary appearance. The limestone façade with metal frames with curved bays of stone and glass, and a stone relief depicting the surrounding area truly stands out.With the recent acquisition of the long leasehold office building, the private equity firm CVC Advisors Ltd found it time for a complete refurbishment. The existing reception area and office floor 1 to 6 were stripped and upgraded to Category-B Standard. This is inclusive of new MEPH installations and a commercial kitchen fit out to service the meeting room suites and dining areas.Stravifloor Channel, a floating floor system using isolated steel channels with proprietary elastomeric pads, four layers of plywood, and a special damping layer was installed in the catering kitchen on the 5th floor of this fit-out project. The isolated steel batten system with enhanced stiffness was designed to minimise the transfer of impact noise to the office floors below.During the installation, an elastic Perimeter Strip was applied around the floors’ perimeter, to completely decouple it from the building structure.

In Carpi, in the province of Modena, Atlas Concorde was chosen for the porcelain stoneware floors and white clay wall tiles of a luxurious private residential villa featuring spacious interiors and an equally large outdoor area. Six ceramic collections from the company were used to furnished the rooms of the house, employed in different shades depending on their role.Those who decide to enjoy the interior of the residence find themselves surrounded by elegance. Explore the project. White sandy beaches, a sea with crystal-clear waters that you can dive into to experience vivid colours and unique, unspoiled nature. This is the collective image of Zanzibar, an otherworldly place where the striking Emerald Resort recently opened. A space marked by luxury, intimacy, and cosiness where Atlas Concorde porcelain tiles were chosen for all the rooms. Different earthy looks are used in each room, producing a style capable of guiding guests on a journey between the sought-after vistas of the West and an exotic ambiance. Deployed in a number of different shades, from dark hues to softer tones, wood-effect tiles cover a variety of areas of the resort. The intense natural and authentic character of wood comes alive on the surface of the porcelain tiles, conveying the timeless appeal of the original material in a contemporary design. And so it is that the rooms, kids club, and some of the shops in the resort were transformed into spaces with a simple but welcoming aesthetic. Combined with stone-look tiles, wood-effect porcelain tiles are also featured in the Asian restaurant. The marriage of Western and Eastern culture, where the sophistication of an avant-garde style is combined with the allure of the magic of the Rising Sun. Stone-effect stoneware tiles reproduce the veins, shading, and suggestions of natural stone, creating a perfect synthesis of beauty and functionality. Completing the design of the resort are concrete-effect and marble-effect tiles. The concrete-effect tiles used for one of the building's restaurants create an industrial style that is both striking and practical. Tiles from Atlas Plan, the Atlas Concorde brand of large slabs, clad the sinks in the luxurious suites. The different collections used underscore the ability of the Atlas Concorde range to meet a wide variety of design and stylistic requirements. The final result is a harmonious stylistic mix where beauty coexists with technologically advanced high quality.

In the Peak District National Park with views of Cressbrook Dale and the Monsal trail, a thermal bridging solution developed by Owens Corning FOAMGLAS® is helping to deliver high levels of thermal performance for a new, modern home with a minimal space heating demand.The Quarry is a mostly single storey, green-roofed dwelling set on the site of a former shallow stone quarry. Working with John Pardey Architects (JPA), client Will Griffiths secured permission for a modern design faced with traditional materials to ensure a development that sits comfortably within the landscape.

Geofabrics HPS17 is installed as the protection geotextile at Erin Landfill Site, a former colliery near Chesterfield. The geotextile formed part of a large cell measuring approximately 40,000m². The site also involved installation of 1000m of deep water drainage, 118,000m² of impermeable membrane, 1000m of fully-welded leachate pipework and 14,000 tonnes of drainage stone. Geofabrics HPS17 is a thick needle punched non-woven geotextile manufactured from 100% virgin polypropylene high tenacity fibres containing 1% active carbon black.

Architect: Waugh Thistleton Architects. Maximising the location and view in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was key to this redevelopment and new-build on the North Norfolk coast. The site contained a 1950s houses and outbuildings that were out of keeping with the area, and so in its place the owners were granted permission to build a sustainable, low-energy new-build family home, clad in locally sourced timber and stone, and including IDSystems' theEDGE2.0 ultra-slim sliding doors to make the most of the stunning view over the salt marshes and estuary.

The Heartlands world heritage site was the result of the long held ambition to redevelop the site of Robinsons tin mine shaft near Pool in West Cornwall. When choosing materials for this feature the colour choice was obvious. After considering several red options the choice was made to use an specific all red Porphyry. The material is very consistently red and the flame texturing required to make this safe for pedestrians has little effect on the colour. When wet the red stone is further enhanced and becomes a truly red river.

Vienna Central station is a new, state-of-the-art railway station. The key architectural idea: Vienna should be open and free of barriers. Open halls, wide stairways and ceiling apertures create a sense of space and freedom. Simplicity and lightness are balanced by the use of high-grade materials such as natural stone and glass. About 1,100 metres of Q-railing’s oval-shaped, stainless steel Easy Glass cap rail on staircases throughout the station is a perfect example of this preference for quality. It also responded to the project’s demanding safety and accessibility requirements.

Deaconess House, a former hospital, dates back to 1894 and the new development retains the frontage of the original building, with a modern construction to the rear. Given the building’s proximity to Holyrood Park, the planning conditions specified the use of indigenous stone for all paving on the project from within 20 miles of the site. However, when the contractor researched the options it was recognised that this was impractical and that Brett Landscaping's Piatto range would provide an equally effective solution to the project’s needs. Accoya was chosen as the project required a striking facade which complimented the existing traditional stone Temple Bank House. Accoya was also selected due to the fact it is low maintenance & provides warmth & natural textures. 15 mm planks were chosen for the cladding to ensure minimum wastage in the manufacturing making it as cost effective as possible. The client was very impressed with how well the cladding cloaks, shields and invites, addressing the road facing elevations and drawing the occupants around the building to its entrance which sits in relief.

Accoya® wood has been selected to provide decking for one of just twenty six gardens on display at Europe’s most renowned garden events the Chaumont-sur-Loire International Garden Show. The garden includes stone monoliths which represent the seven deadly sins and seven heavenly virtues connected by wooden decked paths, crafted from Accoya wood. There are also ‘see-saw’ structures of Accoya which connect different sides of the garden and which symbolise the need for balance in life.

In 2017 permission was granted for the re-devlopment of an abandoned mill in Holmfirth into a cookery school and restaurant. The design required the car park to look as natural as possible but to withstand the manoeuvring of large delivery vehicles. ABG offered a re-engineered solution showing that a porous type 3 attenuation stone over the whole car park removed the need for expensive attenuation tanks. The main car park was covered in Sudspave interlocking pavers coloured to match the gravel. Truckcell was used for the turning area and filled with the same gravel for a natural finish.
