The Hard Rock brand attracts tourists from around the world to its global network of restaurants and hotels. Founded in London in 1971, Hard Rock returned to London in April 2019, with the opening of its first-ever UK hotel. Scott Brownrigg was ‘appointed to consider the primary entrance and ground floor guest experience’, selecting INTRAsystems entrance matting for the three ground floor entrances. Situated in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters, The Ned houses Ned’s Club, a private members’ space, gym and rooftop, alongside a public spa, ten restaurants & bars and 250 hotel bedrooms.Our Fitzroy of London team worked closely with the architect, and designers to ensure that the hotel’s Doc M washroom spaces were in keeping with the hotel’s overall high standard. Featuring fixtures and fittings and a customised finish from our Portland collection.

GEC Anderson stainless steel worktops were included in the revamped Café area within the prestigious RIBA Building on Portland Place, in London. The refurbishment works were carried out by Beck Interiors.The small café space is adjacent to the main member’s restaurant and provides small snacks and pastries as well as drinks and refreshments. The L-shaped stainless steel counter / sinktop was produced in one piece, providing not only an aesthetic advantage but also practicality, durability and hygiene.

The Flower Bowl is a large new build leisure complex in in a semi-rural Lancashire location close to Preston. Fitzroy Place is located right in the heart of London – in the district of Fitzrovia, just a few minutes from Oxford Street, Regent Street and Regent’s Park. This area has always attracted artists and creatives – and was once home to Charles Dickens, Arthur Rimbaud and Virginia Woolf. Fitzroy Place is a unique collection of new buildings, comprising apartments, shops, restaurants, cafés and office space, all organised around a green square. At the centre lies Fitzrovia Chapel, erected at the end of the 19th century.

A housing estate in North London was recently redeveloped to provide more houses and flats to cope with the ever growing demand in the capital. Because the estate is near to a busy road and behind many shops, restaurants and light industrial properties, an acoustic barrier was required to mitigate the noise of deliveries, traffic and general day-to-day noise. To achieve the desired reduction in noise, we supplied 135 metres of 6m high Jakoustic® Reflective fencing to run alongside the estate behind the adjacent commercial properties.

Comprising 546 rooms in total, most of the space is divided into 'twodios' - two en-suite bedrooms that share a small kitchenette. Old Oak also includes a range of dedicated communal facilities and spaces including a restaurant, library, lounge and spa, where they have used a selection of natural, warming tones including Parisian Pine, Cellar Oak and Aged Timber. All of these areas are designed to bring people together: from quiet spaces to work in, through to open spaces for socialising.

F. Ball smoothing underlayment and adhesives have played starring roles in the installation of floorcoverings as part of the major refurbishment and extension of one of Scotland’s busiest theatres, Eden Court at Inverness. Flooring contractor Jack Carmichael (Flooring) Ltd of Elgin, were responsible for the installation of floorcoverings throughout the project. This involved a basement cinema, the main 850 seat auditorium, a second 250 seat theatre, a bar and restaurant, box office, foyer bar and dance studio and associated dressing rooms and toilets...

Set around a new courtyard in the heart of London’s West End, Ham Yard hotel creates a new ‘urban village’ in the heart of the city. To celebrate the hotels unique situation , Firmdale tasked architect Woods and Bagot to pursue a design approach that “seeks to bring the outdoors inside and turn the indoors outside”. Floor to ceiling Crittall doors open up the restaurant to the hotels outdoor terrace and full height Crittall glazing brings the street to life from the comfort of their bedrooms.

Hudson Yards is the largest private real estate development in the history of the U.S.. Hudson Yards will dramatically transform a vast desolate space into New York’s next great neighborhood. It will include more than 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, state-of-the-art office towers, more than 100 shops, and a collection of restaurants. Effisus Ecofacade P-Fix, a solution with clip-in gaskets for waterproofing facade connections, is being applied on site, improving the buildings’ envelope efficiency and sustainability.

The “44 Floors” in Rotterdam is the residential West Tower in the building complex “De Rotterdam”, completed at the end of 2013. The multi-functional building on the Wilhelmina Pier was designed by OMA, the office founded by Rem Koolhaas, as a vertical city offering a total floor space area of 160,000 m2 with offices, restaurants, a hotel and leisure facilities, in addition to the “44 Floors” apartments and parking spaces. The exquisite luxury apartments were fitted out with sanitary objects of the Subway collection from Villeroy & Boch.

The new centre, sympathetically designed by the prestigious Glenn Howells Architects, uses Reynaers’ CW 60 modular curtain walling, Vision 50 door system, ES 50 Eco System door, CS 68-HV Hidden Vent window and CS 77 doors. It was built by contractors Stepnell and the consultant was Wintech Ltd. With a large restaurant and shop, separate coffee shop and beautiful cloistered courtyard with garden, it’s hoped that the new centre will attract hundreds of thousands of new visitors to the Arboretum.

Ilona Rose House with its unusual rose-coloured 3D printed façade is a new-build, mixed-use project spread over 13 floors, including a 4 storey, basement with a quarter natural light. It has transformed the former site of the famous Foyles bookshop on Charing Cross Road, boasting outstanding new shops and restaurants, along with new pedestrian walkways, public realm and roof terraces.The unique building has been designed by MATT Architecture for main contractors Sir Robert McAlpine and offers 150,000 sq ft of office space, 20,000 sq ft of retail fronting on Charing Cross Road and a brand-new public courtyard with 15,000 sq ft of restaurant and bar space.The upper floors comprising of offices exploit the stepped massing of the building to create over 12,000 sq ft of planted external terraces for the benefit of the occupiers and to enhance the environment.The south-west facing terraces, nicknamed ‘the hanging gardens of Soho’ will provide external amenity space for every single level of office. It is here that Radmat’s waterproofing and insulation products were chosen for their tried and trusted properties. PermaQuik Hot Melt Bitumen Waterproofing System was used on 95% of the roof areas, multiple roof terraces, Greek Street Tunnel and James’ Courtyard.

Providing an ideal location for both work and leisure, Centenary Quay is a short commute from Southampton’s historic city centre and perfectly located within easy reach of a wealth of bars, shops and nearby restaurants to ensure everything you could want is at hand. Effisus Breather FR-B System was used in this amazing development, ensuring the protection of the building against driving rain and moisture preventing future corrosion, insulation deterioration and mould growth at the same time it increases the building energy efficiency and minimizes the condensation risk.

In May 2017, a golden, futuristic style building docked at the heart of Media City in Salford Quays. People in the surrounding areas were intrigued by the unusual and eye-catching structure of the new branch of ‘The Alchemist’ – a trendy bar and restaurant chain from Living Ventures, renowned for its unusual and extravagant cocktails. Designing the surrounding landscaping to complement such an avant-garde building was a challenge. Hardscape reveals how it worked alongside Reid Architects and the Bolton-based construction company, Artez, to supply the best materials for this cutting-edge scheme.

A Howe Green 5000 Series Aluminium Access Cover was supplied to The Fish & Chip Shop in Islington. An unobtrusive access solution was required to cover the kitchen’s essential mains drainage services and provide fast access to them for easy maintenance. The access cover was fitted into quarry-tiled steps leading to the kitchen. It was designed to be virtually invisible to prevent any slips or trips – essential within a busy restaurant environment. The cover is double-sealed which means water or bacteria ingress is preventable ensuring that the highest hygiene standards can be maintained.

Overlooking the Vale of Evesham in an area of outstanding beauty, the brand-new Wood Norton Care Village is more than just a residential home. Featuring 48 village apartments, a 60-bedroom care home and a whole host of amenities – including restaurants, bars, shops and a cinema, as well as a leisure centre, spa and swimming pool – the Wood Norton Care Village encompasses an entire community. The complete interior and exterior decoration at the new facility required a number of premium quality paints from Johnstone's Trade.

In 2017 permission was granted for the re-devlopment of an abandoned mill in Holmfirth into a cookery school and restaurant. The design required the car park to look as natural as possible but to withstand the manoeuvring of large delivery vehicles. ABG offered a re-engineered solution showing that a porous type 3 attenuation stone over the whole car park removed the need for expensive attenuation tanks. The main car park was covered in Sudspave interlocking pavers coloured to match the gravel. Truckcell was used for the turning area and filled with the same gravel for a natural finish.

This new store was the first of its kind in the country, tested in the Central Arlington location (612 W. Park Row). With over 3,000 Arlington High School students just across the street and over 34,000 UTA Mavericks under a mile away the store is perfectly situated for big sales. Conceived as a kid-friendly yet upscale environment, the restaurant marries a fast-casual vibe with modern details. Therefore, Accoya was the ideal choice for this exterior application due to its superior aesthetics, sustainability and class 1 durability.

This project includes 50 luxury studios, one, two and three-bedrooms in Poole town Centre. As a resident in this area, you can have access to numerous destination boutiques cafes as well as chains, shops and restaurants, making this location a modern living area. As a project development it is very modern and futurist because it was the first one being designed and constructed in BIM. In order to protect the façade building from moisture, driving rain and wind the solution Effisus A2 Fire Rated Breather FR System was applied.

The Comet Hotel is located in Hertfordshire at the junction of the Barnet by-pass with St Albans Road. Formerly known as the Ramada Hatfield, the Comet’s multimillion pound refurbishment which began in 2017 is now complete. The hotel had retained the building’s original crittal sash windows but this did not provide the required level of noise insulation to a number of the guestrooms, restaurant and function spaces for meetings and networking events. St Albans based Selectaglaze installed 104 secondary glazed units, with a cavity between the primary windows and the secondary units to improve noise insulation.

Leeds City College, the third largest further education college in the UK, has opened a new city-centre campus to offer modern-day vocational study programmes. The campus is a £14 million new build extension and refurbishment of a Grade II listed building into a state-of-the-art specialist vocational centre with training kitchens, a commercial training restaurant, hair and beauty teaching facilities and commercial salons as well as a refectory, library and student services. Being a refurbishment project, the build had a number of challenges.

The £230m Princesshay Shopping Centre, in Exeter, officially opened to the public in September 2007, as part of the city’s biggest ever regeneration project, with over 70 shops, cafés and restaurants. The roof of the centre, installed when the building was constructed, had caused various problems throughout its life. A Sarnabar system in Lead Grey was chosen, with a T fleece between the composite deck and the mechanically fastened Sarnafil S327-18EL membrane. On a smaller roof with a plywood deck, Sarnafil G410-ELF, an adhered system with a fleece backing, was specified.

When we think of the „Elbe Philharmonic Hall“ most of us imagine the impressive silhouette or the concert hall. Hamburg‘s new landmark also has a hotel, restaurant and apartments where high quality interior design is also in evidence. Functionality may not be the headline stealer but the safe use and operation of the building is a key design element for ensuring visitors, residents, suppliers and artists reach their destinations safely and quickly. A walk around behind the scenes shows how the doors interact with the buildings functionality and aesthetic demands.

The aim of this new £61.5 Million development was to create a vibrant retirement community for the over 55s.With 261 spacious and fully accessible one- and two-bedroom apartments, the complex also features a restaurant, hobby and activity rooms, cinema, hairdressing salon, bar, library and gym.It was important that the apartments were bright and cheerful, warm and welcoming as well as secure. Which is why a range of Senior’s thermally efficient and robust systems were used throughout the complex to ensure maximum daylight and a comfortable environment at all times. 

The McLaren Technology Centre hosts a variety of diverse environments including; manufacturing facilities, a futuristic wind tunnel, restaurant, pool, gymnasium, museum, visitor centre, and exhibition and conference areas. Surespan was chosen to design and engineer the making of a 70m diameter glazed roof structure that would act as the roof for the visitor's centre. The structure has two fire escape hatches which would be used in the case of an emergency. The team at Surespan were proud to have been selected for such a project because of their superior engineering expertise and unique skills.

Park Regis Birmingham, part of the Stay Well hospitality Group, is a brand new upscale four-star luxury hotel with 253 well-appointed guest rooms in the heart of Birmingham's city centre on Broad Street. The hotel offers a modern and contemporary ambience with a boutique feel. Tibbatts Abel Interior Design specified Armourcoat polished plaster finishes for the front desk recessed logo wall and throughout the lobby and public areas of the hotel.Armourcoat finishes also feature within the Rofuto restaurant and bar located on the 16th floor of the hotel tower. This modern Japanese Izakaya-style concept features an incredible 200m2 Armourcoat polished plaster ceiling and finished columns throughout the venue. Rofuto is divided into two main areas; the dining lounge with a 360⁰ panoramic view of Birmingham, and the seven-metre long central dining bar featuring open kitchens and theatre Yakitori grill counter. St George Wharf consists of 750 apartments and offices, cafés, restaurants, a health and fitness centre as well as an international hotel. The project centres around 5 towers ascending in steps up to the 22nd storey. The top levels, directly under the striking wing-roofs, consist of penthouse suites with sea-green glass facades. Due to the fantastic location of St. George Wharf a complex has been created, which offers a high level of exclusivity, convenience and comfort. JORDAHL® supplied anchor channels JTA for connecting the elements of the glass façade.

The American Red Elm booths can now be found in ITSU outlets at Victoria, Camden, Heathrow T5 and Bristol, with plans to re-fit more restaurants across the UK later in the year. ITSU pride themselves on providing beautiful high quality food, so it was imperative for them to find a material to reflect that. American Red Elm is known for its attractive appearance, smooth texture and distinctive visible grain so was the perfect choice. As well as the aesthetic qualities it was chosen for its impressive sustainable credentials and hard-wearing qualities with excellent shock resistance and flexibility.

A total of 31 Flexirol Straight Sliding systems were installed as room dividers in the Presidential Suite and as sliding doors in the hotel’s conference rooms. Soltaire 120 hardware was employed in the grand ballroom, with two sets of our Securefold 150 folding door systems fitted in the hotel’s restaurant. Phase 1 of the build also included the installation of 32 Husky 100 sliding door hardware systems, complete with soft close mechanisms, in rooms for the hotel’s branded residences. The 2nd phase of the development will see the fit out of 143 rooms within the same tower.
