‘Our Lady Star of the Sea’ Church in Amlwch - Isle of Anglesey

Our Lady Star of the Sea is a historically significant 20th Century building designed by Guiseppe Rinvolucri. Time and the elements have caused so much damage that this Grade II Listed building could no longer serve as a house of prayer and worship The products used were Restoration Plaster "E Fast White" which cures to a bright white finish and "Restoration Plaster Coat", which creates a smoother but still breathable finish. Polysil TG 500 a special salt blocking silicate polymer primer and Koster NB1 Grey, a waterproof sealing slurry that is effective against negative side water pressure.

Cassidy + Ashton said: “Cassidy + Ashton Group Ltd has worked successfully with Dales on many projects. The Refectory building at the historic Stonyhurst College site presented many challenges in delivering a modern building; surrounded by listed buildings, however the use of sympathetic materials in the design, along with implementation of Dales solar shades, and elliptical fascia with secret fix soffit systems, to create clean roof line profiles, all helped to achieve this successfully”.

LED Lighting - The Met, Bury


An independent arts and entertainment venue, The Met hosts a mixture of theatre, music and comedy. Since closing in March 2016, the Grade II listed building has undergone a significant refurbishment to create a new and improved performance space and facilities. We supplied our specialist LED step lighting system. Fran Healy, Project Manager for The Met refurbishment, commented: “The LED lighting system has helped to create a safe and inclusive environment for all building users. Gradus were able to offer a full project management service based on our specification needs and we’re very pleased with the end result.”

Matki Bespoke and Installations worked with CP Hart Waterloo on this opulent Bathroom Project at Albert Court, an iconic Grade II listed building nearby Kensington Gardens. For the Shower Enclosure, Matki Bespoke designed a tailormade recess door, with fully bespoke dimensions; including an attractive framed panel at the top of door. The Hinges, Frames, Handles and Brackets have been finished in Matki EauZone Plus Brushed Gold finish, a versatile, warm tone which has been perfectly matched here with other fixtures in the bathroom. Product from the CP Hart Henley and Ocean ranges were also selected.

Great Blakenham Energy Park

he Great Blakenham incinerator plant is a joint initiative between Suffolk County Council and waste management company SITA UK. This energy-from-waste facility uses the household and business waste left after recycling, burning materials which would otherwise go to landfill, and generates enough electricity to power 30,000 homes. Although operations carried out at the plant are largely industrial, the appearance of the building itself including the suspended, glass fronted office section required hard landscaping to increase overall aesthetics, as well as providing a SuDS solution to ensure safe and practical surface water removal in the car parking areas...

Top Architecture University Utilises Heradesign in New Studios

Northumbria University’s Grade II Listed Sutherland Building, home to its Architecture and Built Environment Department, now boasts a state-of-the-art architecture studios. Page\Park worked closely with ESH Group to deliver the new-build for which functionality and design were key. Heradesign, a high-performance product which effortlessly retains ambient sound whilst reducing disturbing background noise, provided the acoustic and aesthetic solution required for the project. Heradesign Superfine tiles are a versatile material and Page\Park were able to work with the tiles to deliver a distinctive, geometric herringbone design on the ceilings for maximum design impact.

Three Sandtex products - Sandtex X-Treme X-Posure®, Sandtex Flexigloss X-Tra and Sandtex Metalgloss X-Tra - have been used to refresh the exterior of St John’s House care home in Winchester, delivering a long-lasting finish for the listed building. Sandtex X-Treme X-Posure is microporous – making it ideal for the substrate which needs to breathe, and it will ensure the building remains protected against the weather, long term. Sandtex Flexigloss X-Tra and Sandtex Metalgloss X-Tra are hardwearing, and have added inhibitors to minimise UV damage, protecting the building’s exterior joinery and metal.

Peaceful contemplative secondary glazed silence at St Patricks Church by Selectaglaze

The congregation at Grade II Listed St Patricks Church in Bolton, can worship without interruptions from the neighbouring bus interchange, with the installation of acoustic secondary glazing. 4 large gothic arched stained glass clerestory windows were treated with internal glazed units, stopping the ingress of the sound of stationary busses which can create 70-80dB. However the tricky window was the large chancery window overlooking the altar as 4.3m (h) x 3m (w). When now inside the church, the congregation would never know there is a bus interchange just outside; the acoustic secondary glazing treatment has worked miracles.

Style - Moveable Partition Specialists

St Rollox church of Glasgow recently moved into a brand new, £2.5m community hub, with vibrant design and space flexibility at its heart. Partitioning experts Style was specified to install two semi-automatic moveable walls, allowing the main worship area to be opened out for large services or to be divided for smaller gatherings. The Activity Space can be subdivided to host different events including education and craft classes, exhibitions and concerts. Complementing the exciting interior décor, one moveable wall is double-glazed to maximise natural daylight whilst the other celebrates life, bringing sunshine into the space with brightly coloured solid panels.


Style - Moveable Partition Specialists

For many hotels, adaptable space is key to maximising revenue from hiring out of function rooms. Recognising this, Rushton Hall, a magnificent Grade I listed country house hotel in the Midlands, contracted Style to add flexibility to the newly refurbished Library and main function rooms, allowing privacy when required but also ensuring the area could be opened out for larger gatherings. DORMA Variflex was agreed as the most suitable moveable wall for this historic building and Style installed two separate partitions to give maximum flexibility across three rooms, all in a stunning finish to complement the elegant interior design.

Planet Partitioning

Planet carried out all the internal glazing requirements as part of a Category-B fit-out for Equinox's new London flagship gym, the historic, Grade II listed Art Deco Derry & Toms Building. Planet Partitioning complemented the building's natural curvature by curving the partitioning channels gently before installing p20 curved glazing. As part of the schedule of work, we also provided bespoke offices frontages, including a striking triangular timber surround and Eclipse sliding doors. We were also responsible for installing the draught lobbies, with Firestop partitioning to ensure EI 30 fire integrity and insulation.

Expona luxury vinyl tile flooring adds a contemporary design edge to Arts centre

High design Expona luxury vinyl tiles from Polyflor were recently installed at 20-21 Visual Arts Centre in Scunthorpe to give the café area a modern new look as part of their renovation project. Situated in a grade II* listed former church, 20-21 Visual Arts Centre is a leading visitor attraction in Scunthorpe town centre which features five gallery spaces showing a range of contemporary art, design and crafts. Polyflor’s Expona Design PUR luxury vinyl tiles in the abstract Light Contour design were installed by Direct Carpets flooring contractors of Scunthorpe in the centre’s popular café.

A variety of Polyflor’s vinyl flooring has been installed extensively across a major redevelopment and conservation project at the Acre Mills Outpatient facility, a Grade II listed former wire mill building in Huddersfield. The newly renovated Acre Mill facility was designed by Jefferson Sheard Architects in Sheffield. Over 3300 m² of Polyflor sheet vinyl flooring from the Forest fx, Pearlazzo, Verona, Hydro Evolve and Finesse SD collections was installed by flooring contractors CMC Flooring of St Helens throughout Acre Mill, providing efficient and attractive floorcoverings for various interior environments with different demands and requirements.

It was built between 1831 and 1835 by Charles Stuart, 1st Baron Stuart de Rothesay. Selectaglaze provided the Castle with a solution to compliment the restoration of the rooms meeting acceptable museum standards. Selectaglaze installed 3 high security Series 85 2 –pane horizontal slider units, glazed with a 12mm Tecdur anti-bandit glass, which were certified to LPS 1175 SR2. Founded in 1966, Royal Warrant Holder Selectaglaze has gained a reputation as a leading secondary glazing specialist.

Working with award winning architects Hawkins Brown Associates LLP and Main contractor Osborne Construction, 63 secondary glazed units have been installed by Selectaglaze during the remodelling and refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Plumstead Library, to make it more thermally efficient and to create quieter spaces for the local community user groups. A number of styles were installed across the library, including two large sweeping bow windows framing the entrance, to upgrade the single glazed metal frames primary windows which could not be changed. All sightlines were matched, and the secondary glazing allowed full access for cleaning and maintenance.

A magnificent Grade 1 listed building, Birmingham Cathedral (St Philips) is a rare example of English Baroque architecture. As part of a significant refurbishment of the interior, TORMAX was contracted by Midland Conservation Ltd, to supply and automate two sets of traditional, wood-framed glass swing doors, providing DDA compliant access to the main lobby area. Helping maintain the architectural integrity of the building, the doors are powered by unobtrusive TORMAX 1201 operators, delivering smooth and reliable opening with whisper-quiet precision. The door operators have in-built flexibility, adapting movement to foot traffic levels whilst minimising energy consumption.

Brintons supplied carpets for key public areas within the five-star hotel Kimpton Fitzroy London, a Grade II listed landmark building, which dominates the eastern flank of Russell Square in Bloomsbury. The Kimpton Fitzroy re-opened in April 2018 after undergoing a multi-million pound renovation. Brintons worked on this project alongside interior design practices Tara Bernerd & Partners and Russell Sage studio. Brintons created a bespoke carpet design for key public areas within the Kimpton Fitzroy as part of an extensive refurbishment programme. The carpet features a steel grey and neutral colour palette, which complements the sophisticated and contemporary interiors.

We installed new unisex superloos on all levels of this Grade II Listed mixed use building in the heart of Mayfair. The self-contained toilet cubicles include a toilet, vanity unit and hand drying facilities, enclosed behind a full height Alto cubicle door. The cubicle doors were specified with a Koto real wood veneer finish, stained to an attractive dark colour and complemented with matt black powder-coated ironmongery. Each cubicle features a bespoke white Corian vanity unit with integrated waste bin and inset sink with sensor-operated tap along with Concerto integrated duct panelling system, faced with toughed glass.

Portfolio of work wins painter customers and national title

AN AWARD-WINNING painter and decorator has secured more work since being crowned with a national title. Neil Bailey, of Oxfordshire-based Neil Bailey Decorating, won the Small Contractor Award at the Painting and Decorating Association’s Premier Trophy Awards last year. Using Crown Trade products to transform a living room in a Grade 2 listed farm house, Neil Bailey impressed the judges with his top-quality approach. Neil Bailey said: “I’ve been entering the Small Contractor category for seven years but never won the competition. I felt that Milton Farm was a special project and stood a good chance of winning.

Marr College, Troon, Scotland - Pyroguard Integrity Plus, Rapide Plus & Protect

Pyroguard provided expert technical guidance to cater for the project’s constraints of working within a listed building and more than 300m2 of Pyroguard toughened glass, including Integrity Plus T EW30/6, Rapide Plus EI30/EI60 and Protect T-EI60, was chosen for its unrivalled quality and safety features. Protecting against flames, smoke and radiant heat, the selected glazing range has the advantage of providing Marr College with additional radiant heat control and greater fire protection. In tests this glass demonstrates the ability to maintain the amount of radiant heat to below 15 kW/m2 on the unexposed face, protecting critical evacuation routes for occupants.

Four rooms affected by noise and dust ingress in the Grade II Listed Harris Manchester College, part of Oxford University had thermal secondary glazing installed by Selectaglaze to lower noise breakthrough and to make the buildings more energy efficient. Selectaglaze installed secondary glazing to 28 windows. A number of products were combined for the specification, including Series 20 slimline vertical units. Series 10 horizontal sliding units were used in conjunction with Series 42 fixed lights and Series 42 curved fixed lights for large gothic arched windows. The College has created a more comfortable environment for all users of its spaces.

Bolsover Model Village

TRC Windows

The Grade II listed village of New Bolsover, near Chesterfield, was built in 1891 to house local workers. Terraced houses and community buildings were constructed around a central communal square. In 2015, supported by Heritage Lottery funding, Bolsover District Council initiated a project to upgrade all 194 two and three-bedroom homes. We were commissioned to manufacture and install 504 heritage casement windows and 691 heritage box sash windows, with architects Halsall Lloyd Partnership stipulating that they must closely match the original. All the windows are softwood with hardwood sills; and include approximately 12,000 individual Slimlite double glazed panels.

Dominion Theatre, London

Washroom designed and installed washrooms and backstage dressing rooms for an iconic Grade II listed West End theatre, using brass effect laminate and marble-effect Corian to create the sumptuous design which mirrors the theatre’s stunning Art Deco style auditorium. The full height Alto toilet cubicles installed were finished with a unique high-sheen brass effect laminate and as a contrast, the Concerto integrated duct panel system was manufactured using black laminate. Completing the washrooms are the Corian solid surface vanities specified in a light grey marble with individual square counter-top ceramic sinks, red splashbacks and brass taps.

Washroom created a unique washroom space using a mix of marble, brass and oak for this Grade II Listed refurbished office building. The brass effect accessories including wall-mounted taps, coat hooks, handles and cubicle locks, were paired with marble vanity splashbacks and oak veneer toilet cubicles. The bespoke Corian vanities were manufactured with rounded edge counter-top sinks and inset waste bins. Washroom's above sink Tego hinged mirror system, which includes concealed storage for soap and paper towel dispensers, also feature curved edges to reflect the sink shape and are backlit to provide soft lighting.

Behind the façade of the iconic Grade II Listed Old Chelsea Town Hall, sits Chelsea Sports Centre. As part of a refurbishment of the showers and changing room areas, Washroom installed its flush front glass iLockers, back-painted in dark grey, together with Forte changing cubicles, manufactured from grey solid grade laminate (SGL), complete with unique Perspex integral roof to let in light while providing complete privacy for users and matching Forte toilet and shower cubicles. Washroom also manufactured bespoke ‘Black Quartz’ Corian vanity units and make-up shelves and installed its Legato benching to complete the design.

London Bridge Station

Network Rail has redeveloped the 180-year old London Bridge station – the fourth busiest station in the country with over 54 million passengers passing through every year. To redevelop such a vast, complex site Network Rail required a team that would work together with one goal in mind and add value by presenting viable solutions. Designed by Grimshaw, the remodelling of the station integrated Victorian architecture with 21st Century infrastructure, including a new, naturally lit concourse larger than the pitch at Wembley Stadium.

This bowling alley features a large application of LONDON BRICK AGED RED wall panels, providing a great backdrop for the neon-lit writing. Robust and highly realistic, Vtec Texture Panels are an attractive and extremely practical option for the areas with limited access for future maintenance. Another bowling centre in the group used our ROUGH CONCRETE Wall Panels, which also works really well. Installed in many hospitality and retail establishments, Texture Panels help to create a characterful ambiance in a short period of time.

Impressive new build project with stunning architectural designs. Weru bespoke Afino-Tec carbon composite windows, french doors and wide span patio are included in this project. Weru Acento aluminium bifold doors, 48mm factory triple glazed ultra-low E 0.5Wmk2 units have also been used in this 3 storey, 8000 sqft property. All products are finished in RAL 7016 anthracite grey on both sides. The huge Weru Atris Life designer entrance door with quad-pane ultralow E laminated safety glazing which is fitted to RC3 security standards & the storey height glazing with U Value 0.47Wmk2 featuring innovative FiproRau technology.

The building features a dramatic top-lit central atrium space arranged at the heart of the floorplates. It affords the leading international biotechnology company to operate in exemplar facilities in a flexible environment to meet current needs, planned growth and evolving working patterns, including future proofing for laboratory uses. Aukett Swanke's design embodies quality, simplicity and elegance, which enabled rapid construction to meet the proposed occupation date.

Bespoke Linear Profiles for CAT B Office Fitout. 35 Cock Lane, London.

299 Lighting

In 2017, the ground floor and lower ground floor of this old and tired building was purchased by private prosecution specialists who specialise in 'white collar crime'. The 299 team have created the lighting layout, product specification and calculations for this Cat B fit out. Full lighting design and emergency lighting plan were produced alongside the renders to help visualise the effect of the new lighting scheme. Two bespoke sized linear luminaires of 2062 x 2062 mm with lit corners were created and installed as feature lighting in the reception area.

A contemporary and aesthetically pleasing campus is sure to attract the best staff and students. When we were approached by the college with the design brief of creating a unique design inspired by science and mathematics, our lighting designers rubbed their hands together in excitement. The office floors were lit with the linear lighting system Lopen, which perfectly lends itself to custom length solutions. The slim ring-shaped luminaire Ouse was used as the centrepiece of the installation. The 2m large fitting with a uniquely designed diffuser creates an impression of a light, gravity defying slim ring, floating in space.

Track Lighting for a Educational Space CAT B Fitout. UCL, Gordon Street, London

The ongoing CAT B refurbishment of the impressive Victorian building situated in the heart of Bloomsbury sees a transformation of 7,900 sq ft of the Student’s Union, staff offices and a teaching spaces. The design concept is very consistent across the floors using a strong visual language. Following 3 main design patterns, the scheme uses linear lighting as the general lighting. The circulation areas with exposed soffits are lit with linear profiles Lopen Suspended and circular suspended lighting Talla. In the desk areas the Lopen Suspended was used to create softer illumination and absorb the sound.

Situated at the heart of Hammersmith Town Centre in West London, the recently refurbished late 70’s building Glen House offers approximately 32,000 sq ft of high spec CAT A office space with a few perks like bike parking, showers and roof terrace. The clean lines of RIO Suspended enhance the exposed coffered slabs, adding bold visual feature and texture to the space. The bespoke ceiling lights are side-lit using a double satin diffuser, emitting soft comfortable light. 299 also supplied lighting for corridors and bathrooms.

Lighting Design Consultancy for a Co-Working Space. LABS House, London.

Backed up by world’s most successful entrepreneurs and technology experts, LABS is a network of trendy and tech- savvy coworking spaces in London and Tel Aviv. 299’s team was trusted with creating the lighting layout for the entire building, making sure the new office lighting will be compliant with LG7 guide and CIBSE. The RIO Suspended was used as the main office luminaire throughout the whole scheme. The circulation areas and corridors are lit with the the slim linear profile LECK Suspended. We designed the abstract suspended feature lighting for the atrium using the NILE Suspended.

Looking very impressive on the outside, the newly refurbished Baskerville House welcomes with a grand reception area which then turns into a modern airy atrium, offering excellent natural light and modern workspace fulfilling the demands of new tenants. The office floors were lit with the linear lighting system Lopen, which perfectly lends itself to custom length solutions. For the breakout spaces, the circular suspended fitting Talla was used in combination with the soft square suspended profile Tarras bringing a visual interest into space and creating an area with a different light distribution.
