Home House is an award winning private members club, located in Portman Square, London. The Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned to install over 220sqm of new Ecodek composite decking on Buzon support pedestals to create a large decked terrace area within the club’s private garden. Home House were looking for a durable, minimal-maintenance, anti-slip deck with superior safety qualities without compromising on aesthetics for this glamorous outdoor space. The carefully selected Ecodek Heritage composite deck boards delivered all this and more….

The Outdoor Deck Company are delighted to have started work at Islington Square. Located in the heart of Islington, Islington Square is set to become one of London’s newest residential neighbourhoods. The former Edwardian Mail Centre and Post Office buildings are being transformed into a selection of apartments, maisonettes and penthouses including high-end retail units and restaurants. The Outdoor Deck Company have been commissioned to supply and install premium grade Ipe timber decking for the eleven Penthouse roof-top gardens, which include `endless` swimming pools and private decked entertaining areas.

Founded in 2002, the Gardens of Peace Muslim cemetery is located in a green belt area in Chigwell, London. Beautifully landscaped and purpose-built, the cemetery is a calm, comforting space for the local Muslim community. Earlier this year the Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned to supply and install high quality composite deck boards to create a large deck area surrounding the new cemetery building. Providing an attractive but future-proof solution, composite decking was specified for its anti-slip, mould-free and low-maintenance attributes providing a safe, less slippery surface for the year-round cemetery visitors.

The Outdoor Deck Company were specified to supply and install 560m² of FSC Massaranduba timber decking to create a series of pathways that branch out to each entrance. Massaranduba is one of the hardest and most durable timber species in the world making it the perfect timber surface for this busy external space. Rathbone Market has been shortlisted for several awards and is winner of The Sunday Times British Homes Awards – Development of the Year (Schemes of more than 200 homes) 2017.

On the fourth floor of the Royal Opera House is a decking area of around 600sqm. For the last 25 years this was a hardwood deck, but when Stanton Williams Architects were asked to oversee the redevelopment of this area a new deck was an integral part of the plan. The Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned to install the Grad Decking System supplied by Alfresco Floors. The finished deck is part of a major transformation of the Royal Opera House by Stanton Williams and has been open to the public from September 2018.

On an historic site overlooking the picturesque Grade II listed bridge, Kew Bridge is a new riverside development, where 164 stunning new waterside homes have been built to create London's ultimate riverside address. The development includes apartments and penthouses with views over reflecting ponds and landscaped courtyard. Specified by Universal Sealants Ltd, The Outdoor Deck Company installed Millboard decking across numerous luxury residential apartments creating stunning outdoor spaces with unrivalled views across the River Thames and beyond.

One Hyde Park is a major residential and retail complex located in Knightsbridge, London. The development includes three retail units totaling 35,800 m2 and 86 residential properties with prices starting at around £20 million. The Outdoor Deck Company supplied and installed premium grade Ipe timber decking to all roofs across all four buildings. The deck boards were supported by 28,000 DPH Buzon pedestals. The project was a success and the Outdoor Deck Company were proud to be involved in installing their first-class products to one of London’s most prestigious developments.

The Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned to refurbish the external terraces of several top floor apartments located on Nile Street, London. The brand new `grad` invisible fixing clip deck system was supplied and installed by the Outdoor Deck Company, their first ever `grad` installation in the UK. The unique clip and groove design at the heart of the `grad` system means that decks can be installed about 30% faster than competing products. The `grad` system can be retrofitted onto existing timber joists, installed from scratch on top of a new timber sub-frame, or mounted onto the bespoke rail system.

A vibrant new community is being created at Battersea Power Station offering the best retail, office, leisure and green space plus unique homes. Working with Maylim, the Outdoor Deck Company were specified for a multitude of areas across this 39-acre site, including the supply and installation of Cedar privacy screening for all apartments on the podium level plus a large Iroko deck area alongside the retail outlets. The Outdoor Deck Company were also responsible for the supply and install of timber seating in the specially designed communal areas and Cumaru seating, planters and a bespoke pergola on Level 8.

A stunning and substantial award-winning house on the North Norfolk coast. The house sits on a large wooded site in the centre of a Norfolk seaside village facing the sea. The linear design of the main part of the house is set into the rising ground, with an undercroft forming the main entrance and boat storage. Cowper Griffith Architects specified the Outdoor Deck Company to supply and install FSC Ipe timber to complete the expansive deck area and garden pathway feature. Aboretum House was awarded RIBA East Building of the Year 2014.

The meticulous refurbishment of this Grade II Listed landmark provides a stunning range of luxuriously specified 1, 2,3 and 4 bedroom apartments. These are unique residences, restored and specified to the highest possible standards and benefit from private facilities, including a leisure suite with a pool and spa. The Outdoor Deck Company were specified to install Yellow Balau decking to create a series of stunning outdoor terrace areas that not only complement the architecture of the original building but provide a relaxing space for residents to enjoy.

Sitting opposite the former BBC Television Centre and adjacent to Westfield Shopping Centre, this exciting new development includes 10.4 acres of open space in the form of a new public park for White City, 1500 new homes including affordable housing and commercial premises. The Outdoor Deck Company were specified to install FSC Iroko timber tiered seating to create an external relaxation area on the Buzon pedestal system along with composite seating and stage decks across the external public areas.

One Tower Bridge is a prestigious development offering five-star living by the banks of the Thames. It offers uninterrupted views of one of the world’s most iconic landmarks, unrivalled residents’ facilities and the highest of specifications. The Outdoor Deck Company supplied and installed decking, contemporary screens, butt-joint fencing, seating, step and riser units plus pergolas (RAL colour-matched aluminium with hardwood and Cedar slats). This prestigious project was awarded the `Grand Award` and `Principle Award – Hard Landscaping Construction over £1.5m` at the BALI National Landscape Awards in December 2017.

The Outdoor Deck Company were specified to install high grade FSC Iroko timber decking to the large roof terrace area creating a stunning relaxation space. All decking and paving was installed on the Buzon pedestal support system and the wooden decking area was fitted with anti-slip strips to create an instant non-slip surface. The curved contrast between the paving and decking creates a soft visual appearance and takes you to different areas around the gardens. The entrance steps and risers made from Iroko premium grade hardwood include non-slip strips along the front edge of the steps.

2-6 Cannon Street is a high-end new build commercial office building located in the City of London. The Outdoor Deck Company were commissioned by Frosts Landscape Construction to supply and install the GRAD decking and rail systems, which were supported by the Buzon DPH pedestal system. This was a particularly challenging project as powder coated steel planters were strategically located in the middle of the roof terrace so installation had to be carried out around the numerous planters. Timber decked steps and ramps were also part of the overall terrace design.

The meticulous refurbishment of this Grade II Listed landmark provides a stunning range of luxuriously specified apartments. Phase 2 of this project included the installation of FSC certified Hardwood decks to create a series of private roof terraces adjoining the larger apartments. This project was particularly challenging due to the many curved corten steel planters, upstands, steps and seating areas but using the Buzon PB pedestal range to support the decking our installation team achieved seamless surfaces across all the terrace areas. The finished private roof terraces provide residents with the perfect outdoor space.

The owners of Beech Cottage, a private residence located in Maidenhead commissioned us to install a composite deck spanning the back of their newly refurbished family home. The project involved the removal of the old deck and frame. Our in-house team designed a brand new 100sqm deck area including steps and facias to the rear and side. The new Durapine posts and joists were installed to create a solid raised frame to prevent rotting. High quality Composite deck boards were chosen for their durability plus they require minimal maintenance which was important to the client.

55 m2 of Grad Thermo Ash 120mm deck boards have been used to great effect by the architects in the modernisation of this semi-detached property for decking, horizontal and vertical cladding, and fencing.At the back of the building, the living space has been extended by the addition of a garden room, joined together by a deck which runs the length of the garden between the two buildings.  Both the main house and the garden room feature a wrap-around canopy and deck.At the front of the property, the extension and entrance porch have been clad in the same material.All of these elements have been seamlessly finished using our invisible-fix system, Grad, in Thermo Ash using the same width board throughout.  This lovely project really showcases Grad and its versatility. 

The Television Centre transforms the existing BBC Television centre into a mixed-use development that combines office/studio space for the BBC, entertainment and leisure facilities, housing, a hotel and office space, alongside public open spaces. Working with Gillespies and Maylim, we were commissioned to supply and install Cumaru benches and seating areas with bespoke metal work including hand rails and arm rests (designed by our in-house team) to the refurbished Helios Plaza area. In the famous external forecourt, perfectly spaced FSC Cumaru cladded doors were installed to the services/access and general storage area, for a seamless look.

The current Google HQ, with vast external floor space over several levels. The decking is a bespoke solid section 230 x 30mm composite, commissioned for this site. All fixings are hidden, giving a seamless look to the terraces, and clean lines. The main terrace areas are level and by using the DPH slope correction system, the wheelchair access ramps were easily achieved. A clever feature; the BM Unit travels over the decking, hiding the steel rails below. This enlarges the overall usable terrace space considerably, and gives uninterrupted views from the entire terrace.

Over 10,000 square metres of the Thermo Ash 'hidden-fix' system were supplied for various external areas on the Turbine Halls of the iconic Battersea Power Station including the private roof terraces and balconies of the sky villas on the roof of the building, and roof terraces of the commercial office spaces.The use of the Grad system not only created stunning areas, but contributed to significant savings on the labour cost of installation.The installation of Thermo Ash used Grad aluminium rails with factory-placed clips for perfect alignment, placed on Buzon UK's PB range of pedestals where required.  

The first platform lifts is placed adjacent to the pool deck, linking the underground levels to the outdoors. A customised glass and steel structure protects the lift from weather exposure, whilst maximising on the stunning sea views. The A5000 was a great choice to provide accessibility, luxury and ease of installation at this seaside residence.

Project detailsToyota contacted Watco looking for a long lasting anti slip decking solution. Four of Toyota GB Plc Head Office fire exits open onto an outdoor decking area, leading to assembly points. The decking is also used as a seating area at lunchtime for staff. In wet and frosty weather the decking becomes slippery, causing concern around slip hazards, especially in an emergency evacuation.Whilst the safety of its employees was the main concern, Toyota also wanted to ensure that the anti slip solution was easy to fix and would blend in with the natural colour of the decking.In addition, they needed a solution that could be fixed in the decking indentations. Having looked at several other solutions, it seems that most involved fixing the anti slip strips in the gaps between the boards, thus requiring extra work as the existing gaps were not wide enough. Our solutionWatco recommended and supplied heavy duty slip resistant GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) Decking Strips. The strips in ‘stone’ colour blended in well with the timber and were supplied pre-drilled for easy fixing.Toyota were delighted with the outcome. The new anti slip decking strips provide safe fire escape routes for staff, whilst maintaining the aesthetics of the landscaped outdoor area."Our GRP Decking Strips are virtually indestructible, based on an extremely durable fibreglass base with a coarse, ceramic grit which is bonded to the top for a heavy duty, slip resistant surface. Chamfered edges minimise trip hazards. The strips are available in black, stone or yellow."Watco Decking Strips are supplied pre-drilled and with screws. The strips can be trimmed on site using a hacksaw or, if required, Watco will supply the strips already cut to size.

Buzon UK were commissioned alongside The Outdoor Deck Company to refurbish the external terraces of several top floor apartments located on Nile Street, moments from Old Street, London. The brand new GRAD invisible fixing clip system was supplied and installed by the Outdoor Deck Company, their first ever GRAD installation in the UK. Buzon UK supplied and installed PB pedestals, which were placed under each rail to support the GRAD ThermoAsh deck boards. The GRAD system can either be fitted onto conventional timber joists, or mounted onto the bespoke support rail system.

Colindale Gardens is a unique mixed-use development in the heart of north west London. Commissioned by Redrow, the full development will bring over 2,900 new homes along with cafes, restaurants and retail facilities to the local community.Project BreakdownDesigned in a collaboration between Broadway Malyan, Fielden Clegg Bradley Studios and Fourpoint Architects, the extensive 19.17 hectare project will encompass a range of residential spaces, from studios to 4 bedroom homes. Each new development will overlook over 9 acres of landscape gardens.Close to Fryent Country Park with 250 acres of rolling fields and woods, the development has been designed with an emphasis on creating a community for relaxation, sports and play. To further enjoy indoor/outdoor living, all new release apartments and duplexes offer a tranquil private balcony and/or outdoor terrace space. The full development is due to be complete 2021.The SolutionEnviroBuild provided just under 400 m² of Hyperion Pioneer Walnut and Oak decking for the residential terraces. A large commercial client of EnviroBuild required a contemporary and low maintenance decking solution for their purpose built flat refurbishment project in South London. The decking would be supported over a flat roof surface, plug on balconies and garden decking areas, so required a versatile decking bearing system.The SolutionThe project used 400 m² of Hyperion Granite Pioneer decking installed on a sub-frame made of non-rot Manticore recycled plastic lumber. To support the decking over the low profile balconies and taller flat roof sections, adjustable decking supports were used. Happy campers can now make the most of the great outdoors in style.Gripsure has supplied the camping and glamping site Herding Hill Farm in Northumberland with non-slip decking to complete the popular site’s ‘Wigwam glamping Pods’ and outdoor hot tub areas. Around 105 of our Gripsure Classic style three-metre boards have been used to create stunning slip-resistant outdoor spaces for visitors to enjoy.5-star Herding Hill Farm, located just a stone’s throw from the world-famous Hadrian’s Wall, has 17 warm and cosy wooden Wigwam cabins (glamping pods), designed for guests who like a little more luxury when it comes to sleeping under the stars. Gripsure decking has provided the perfect solution to creating all-weather, low-maintenance, non-slip outdoor spaces which perfectly complement the timber-built glamping pods. Our sustainable, FSC and PEFC-approved decking has also been used around the site’s eight, luxurious outdoor hot tubs.Site Manager Phil Humphreys, a former carpenter, says he’s really pleased with the look and the quality of Gripsure's decking. “We’re a campsite open all year round and in the winter, the weather can be treacherous,” said Phil, who has been working at Herding Hill Farm since 2018. “One of the first jobs I wanted to do was to rebuild the steps to the pods and the designated hot tub areas both to improve guest access and also their visual appearance. I did not believe that composite decking was the right solution. Saige products were used to help create a low maintenance garden which could have critical wheel chair access for a family member so they could use their garden all together. The contractor used Saige's Traditional co-extruded decking range in Teak to create a large outdoor space including the all important access ramp along with Saige's Subframe system to create a solid, safe and accessible environment.

Gripsure supplied Premier non-slip decking for Audley Redwood retirement village in Bristol. The anti-slip timber decking was installed on 14 luxury retirement apartments to ensure the residents’ safety. The retirement village has been built to a high specification. It comprises of 106 apartments and 20 cottages. The 15-acre parkland also features a restaurant, library and health club for residents to enjoy. With unspoilt views of the surrounding greenery, the balconies, have been finished to a very high standard. They include decorative railings that complement the local Georgian architecture. Gripsure Premier non-slip decking combines a traditional grooved timber decking board with two anti-slip strips for a high slip resistance. This ensures the residents of Audley Retirement Village get the most out of their outdoor space all year round in a secure environment.

EnviroBuild worked closely with Bouygues development to provide over 160sqm of Hyperion Pioneer Oak composite decking for the residential balconies. For the Ebury centre project. This exciting mixed educational and residential development in the heart of London’s SW1 was designed by award-winning architects Sheppard Robson. The project– commissioned by developers Linkcity, combines the creation of an 11-storey residential tower with a 56,000 sq ft University Technical College (UTC).The UTC, named after the London’s former mayor for Planning and Policy, Sir Simon Milton, includes workshops, as well as a gym, sports facilities and a large outdoor terrace.The residential element of the scheme, which has been purchased by Taylor Wimpey Central London, is set to complete in 2018. The 11-storey tower will offer 47 high-quality one, two and three-bedroom apartments with adjoining balconies.The decking was installed on a durable sub-frame of Manticore plastic Lumber and MESA Support adjustable decking pedestals. Meadowside is a small development of 23 eco-lodge holiday homes in St. Columb, Cornwall. The lodges are in the beautiful North Cornwall countryside. The area is teeming with wildlife, including a large variety of birds, rabbits, foxes and deer. The lodges are available all year round and benefit from unspoilt views of the surrounding hills and valleys. We supplied Gripsure Premier non-slip decking for a number of lodges. It was also used to deck the outdoor space surrounding the lodges, including steps, access ramps and hot tub areas, ensuring safe access for residents over the seasons. Income from the two- and three-bedroom holiday homes supports the neighbouring Cornish Birds of Prey Centre and Animal Park.

Gripsure decking has been used on an office roof terrace in the heart of the City of London’s financial district. Workers in the tall building in Fenchurch Street, home to many corporate offices and company headquarters, can now take time out on a stylish, non-slip decking area.Gripsure supplied 586 of the MOSO® Bamboo X-treme with black Gripsure non-slip inserts and a smooth finish for the project, completed last year. The private roof terrace serves as a ‘breakout area’ for office staff to relax, meet and entertain in an outdoor setting, which has fantastic views over the Thames.The existing timber deck had come to the end of its service life and risks of slips and falls had meant that the terrace area had to be closed. Contractors MJ Ferguson stripped away the old boards and installed 150m sq of MOSO® Bamboo X-treme with Gripsure decking. These sustainable, durable boards are Euroclass B fire rated, providing further peace of mind.Company staff have already been making the most of their new safe, contemporary-looking rooftop terrace, which can be used in all weather conditions.Gripsure have been supplying bamboo decking to the UK market for the past four years as a sustainable alternative to composite and tropical hardwood products. There are thousands of species of bamboo and our decking is made from a giant species, called Moso. This bamboo is a woody perennial, so has more characteristics in common with a timber, rather than a grass. Like grass, however, Moso grows rapidly – up to a metre a day in the height of the season. There has also been a carbon study, which shows that the product is a net carbon sink over its lifespan, even taking into consideration transportation and manufacturing.
