Principal Contractor, Mace Group, appointed Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) to design and install the waterproofing to the Marshall Building of the London School of Economics. CCL recommended the Type C Newton CDM System as it is the safest and most reliable form of waterproofing. CCL prepared the extensive two-storey basement with Newton 906 Lime Inhibtor and Newton 103-S before installing over 2,250m2 of Newton 520 eco membrane to the floor and over 570m2 of Newton 508 membrane to create the Newton CDM System.

The property line construction between two existing buildings meant that there was a requirement for waterproofing both new and existing structural elements, including pile caps, underpinning, a new reinforced concrete slab, the existing foundations, and also existing vaulted areas at the front of the building which extend below New Bond Street.

Warwick Court Redevelopment, London

Warwick Court, the former Goldman Sach's headquarters on Paternoster Square in London, is being redeveloped by Mace Group after they won the £60m project in 2020. Newton Specialist Contractor ASF Waterproofing specified a waterproof and hard-wearing coating system for the floor of the plant rooms. As a result, ASF Waterproofing designed and installed a watertight system utilising Newton 110 WATstop and Newton 701-HB. ASF Waterproofing provided a completely watertight solution following the guidelines set out in BS 9102:2009. The works were carried out to a high standard and delivered on time, despite the tight schedule.

Newton Specialist Contractor Cast Contracting Ltd (CCL) took on the waterproofing at the large Mace Group project at the world-renowned London School of Economics. The project is an extensive, two-storey, mixed-use basement that will house plant areas, squash courts, changing facilities and a sports hall, covering a total of over 2,250m2 of floorspace. CCL recommended the Newton CDM System as it is the safest and most reliable form of waterproofing. Despite requiring dedicated delivery slots and and working to an extremely tight program of work, CCL completed the project well within the time limit.
Waterproofing Historic Leaking Vaults at Imperial College, London

As part of their ongoing relationship with the Imperial College London, Newton Specialist Contractor A.P. Gooch was tasked with assessing and waterproofing 11 historic Victorian brick vaults beneath the streets of Kensington, London, after the existing competitor ‘waterproof render’ had failed.
Following a full assessment of the vaults, A.P. Gooch decided that the best option was to install the tried and tested ‘failsafe’ Newton System 500 cavity drainage membrane solution in order to depressurise, capture and safely manage ingressing water away from the building.

Heavy rainfall on the Orkney Islands meant that the basement room of Kirkwall Air Traffic Control Tower suffered from frequent flooding, with water levels reaching 1.2m at their highest point. Creating a New Community Centre, North London

When a listed commercial basement in Temple Fortune was being transformed into a new community centre, Newton Specialist Contractor Arti Construction undertook the waterproofing. The basement is part of a four-storey Listed building that was built into the hillside, meaning three of the walls were either fully or partially below-ground and suffering from water penetration. Arti recommended the Newton CDM System, as it is the most safe and reliable form of waterproofing that would deliver a completely dry internal space and cause the minimal amount of disruption to the Listed structure.

The project, spanning across five levels, was for major renovations to the college that saw advanced acoustic, air handling and climate control measures incorporated into the building. MacLennan designed and installed a Newton CDM System to deliver an entirely dry environment in the vast basements that would become auditoriums, a library, an atrium and music rooms, all with specific and bespoke requirements. Saving a Notting Hill Failed Double Basement

Newton was approached by the desperate client at this large terraced property in Notting Hill, having had a second basement level excavated beneath the existing basement and the front and rear gardens.Unfortunately, bad waterproofing design and workmanship meant the basement had flooded immediately upon completion – the builder ceased trading and, following a legal case, the architect and structural engineer were found culpable.We recommended our experienced specialist contractor Stonehouse in order to assess the failure and propose a comprehensive solution.The experts at Stonehouse identified a litany of issues, from the weak, permeable structure to the lack of continuous waterproofing between levels, the inadequate pumping system, the blocked cavity drain system, and the non-existent external deck waterproofing and drainage, amongst others.
Newton System 500 flood mitigation controls the River Thames

This Thames property originally had a wet dock but this had been back filled and capped with a concrete floor. The client wished to use the ground floor as a bedroom, but during a recent flood the water level reached 500mm internally.
Newton System 500 provided the ideal solution, by redirecting the water, rather than trying to hold water back – impossible under such pressurised conditions. Newton 508 Mesh was chosen for the walls, Newton 520 to the floor with a Newton Basedrain ring around the perimeter. Two Newton Titan Pro pump systems were used, including a battery back-up system

Newton Specialist Contractor Arti Structural Waterproofing took on the required waterproofing of 59 concrete balconies as part of the Wandsworth regeneration programme to increase the number of affordable homes. The products used for the waterproofing also required a minimum fire rating of A2-s1-d0, tested to BS EN 13501-1. Newton 103-S carried the required fire rating and can resist extremely high positive and negative water pressure, forming a hard and durable coating with a degree of elasticity, making it ideal for protecting concrete. Arti delivered a quick, efficient and thorough installation to the site.

Newton Specialist Contractors ASF Waterproofing were called in to investigate why the Bridge Master's Quarters at One Tower Bridge was suffering from damp and proceeded to install multiple Newton products to resolve the issue.
ASF installed a new internal damp proof course by injecting Newton 804-DPC into the walls, then sealing with Newton 313-WP, before quickly and easily spraying Newton 103-S as a final barrier to water.
Externally, the walls were thoroughly waterproofed with four coats of the flexible, resilient Newton 109-LM. For complete protection, the waterproofing began 1-metre below ground level.
Saving a Grand Designs Basement from Complete Disaster - Waterproofing in East London

A young couple building their dream first home - and filmed by Channel 4’s Grand Designs - fell foul of rogue contractors when their site became a basement disaster.
Excavations performed contrary to the Structural Engineer’s instructions resulted in the banks falling in beneath the street,
