Essential Metal lockers at West Coventry Academy

Whilst the summer holiday is going on, many schools are thinking about replacing or expanding their current metal lockers. Our team at Helmsman manufactured and installed new lockers at West Coventry Academy. West Coventry Academy is a co-educational secondary school and sixth form.The academy requested metal school lockers, with 4 compartments, with sloping tops. Sloping tops are a beneficial option for schools as it is a way to prevent people from using the top of the lockers as a storage area which could cause a safety hazard.Metal lockers are a popular and essential option for schools, as they can come in a variety of compartments, shapes, colours, and sizes. Furthermore, the door frames of metal lockers are robust, and designed to last long term.Our team manufactured 116 four-compartments with the size of the lockers at 1780mm high, 305mm wide, and 460mm deep. The doors of the lockers were powder coated in the shade ‘Blue Grey’, with the body of the lockers powder coated in ‘Ice’.The project was finished with Cam Locks which is an effective lock option for schools as it keeps personal belongings secure. Metal Z Lockers at Northern Trains
Helmsman
Northern Rail has returned to Helmsman multiple times for Lockers and Bench Seating for different railway services up north. For this project, the Helmsman team manufactured and installed 185 two-compartment Metal Z Lockers to accommodate 370 people.Z Lockers are the perfect locker design for maximising internal space as they have a small footprint while offering excellent space minimization. As one of the UK’s leading locker manufacturers, we also provide the project with Bespoke Z Locker designs as they were requested to be 2000mm high, 450mm wide, and 500mm deep with a perforated base. A perforated base is an excellent addition as it allows air to flow throughout the lockers.The body of the metal Z lockers were powder coated in the colour ‘Ice’, while the doors were powder coated in ‘Smoke’. The lockers were numbered with Helmsman laminated number plates and finished with Camlocks, which is our standard lock, however a fantastic choice, as they are reliable and durable ensuring users that personal belongings are safe as well as being affordable.

This metal gutter was leaking in various places and several repairs had been undertaken over many years.
Liquasil’s liquid gutter lining system was specified because the SWT primer actively treats any rust that is present and prevents further rusting.
All joints and fixings are permanently sealed with Non-Sag Sealer.
Non-Sag Sealer is a thixotropic coating with 1400% elasticity that easily copes with thermal movement associated with metal gutters.
The final stage is the apply a single coat of Liquasil One along the entire length of the gutter, to provide a seamless, leak-free finish.

Our team at Helmsman installed some brand new lockers at Leasowes High School in Halesowen during the last holiday break.The school requested metal lockers, with 4 compartments and without stands. Metal Lockers are a great option for schools, as they come in a variety of compartments, sizes and colours. Plus they are a budget friendly option, being the cheapest of our locker ranges.Our team manufactured 181 four compartment metal lockers for the project, with a bespoke sizing of 1925x300x450. The metal roof was first prepared using high powered jet washing equipment, to remove loose and flaking materials.
Liquasil corrosion primer was applied to the corroded cut edges and the entire roof was sprayed with a single coat of Metalseal 20.
The metal box gutter was heavily corroded.
The loose and flaking material was removed and Liquasil’s Corrosion Primer was applied all along the gutter.
The joints in the gutter were sealed with Liquasil’s unique Non-Sag Sealer and then the entire gutter was coated with Liquasil One to provide a seamless gutter finish.

Metal lockers at Weald of Kent Grammar School

The holidays are a great time to get these jobs done, as it's much quicker for installers to operate and they don’t get in the way of your students. Our Team at Helmsman manufactured and installed new lockers replacing the old ones at Weald of Kent Grammar. Weald of Kent Grammar is a secondary school that has a strong focus on academic achievement and selects pupils based on their ability.The school requested metal lockers, with 3 compartments and 1 compartment with metal sloping tops. Metal lockers are a beneficial option for schools, as they can come in a range of compartments, colours, and sizes. The school requested sloping tops that prevent people from using the top of the lockers as a storage area, which can create a safety hazard if items fall or if students climb on top of the lockers.Our team manufactured 98 one-compartment lockers with the size of lockers 665mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. Also, three compartment that is 1775mm high, 300 wide, and 450 deep. The colour of the lockers was requested to be ‘Ultramarine Blue’ with body colour to be ‘Ice’. With sloping tops to be 'elegant grey' and extended by 80mm. With the lockers, they have requested Cam locks which would make students feel guaranteed that their belongings are safe and secure.It was great to work again with Weald of Kent Grammar on this project. Kidz#1 Essential Metal Lockers Project
Helmsman
More than ever, there is a high demand for childcare with high expectations of good quality facilities, educational classes, new technology and a food court. Kidz#1 provides fun all year round for kids 0 to 12 years old. They re-opened its doors again on the 17th of May 2021, following the ease of lockdown in the UK. To keep high standards, Kidz 1 carried out some works and requested new fun lockers from Helmsman.
We supplied Kidz 1 with a variety of bespoke metal lockers for different areas. We provided a bespoke size of 2100mm x 300 width x 450 depth flat-top metal lockers with six compartments of 24 lockers. These lockers specifically installed to spell out Kidz#1 for branding purposes and bring a fun aspect to the locker area. Chosen colours were shades of blue, pink and orange to reflect the brand identity. Another nest of three essential metal lockers manufactured and installed in a standard size of 1775mm x 300 width x 450 with two compartments. All lockers had number plates and cam locks for ease.
Helmsman manufactured and supplied extra three modular lockers in 525mm x 300 width x 450 depth. These modular lockers are in white and oak-like laminate doors with hasp locks. Kidz 1 also needed to replace a bench and ordered a new ash hardwood bench seating which, is 2000mm long. Overall we supplied approximately around £5,000 worth of lockers and benching, including installation and delivery services.

Metalseal is the only BBA Approved metal roof coating on the market and the only one to come with a Latent Defects Insurance Guarantee.
This is a single coat application, in this case, using brush and roller to avoid the risk of over-spray which can occur when using airless spray equipment.

The ChallengeThe redevelopment of Clyde Campus is part of the fifth stage of a larger programme initiated by Glasgow City Council to re-build and modernise its pre-12 and special education estate. At the heart of the project is the Council’s desire to create an effective educational environment which takes a holistic approach to the design process by combining social, economic and environmental goals, resulting in a sustainable architecture, culture and landscape.The SolutionThe architectural response to the site has a central assembly hall and four radiating wings. This radial plan divides the site and avoids large elevations to the street edge, which is surrounded by low-density, two-storey housing. The design aims to create a new, accessible, attractive, welcoming and sustainable campus with shared community amenities with clear public frontage to the building.The facades have been composed to reflect the differing functions in each wing through choice of material and scale.The majority of the building is clad in a bespoke blend of Forterra’s Dark Tame Valley and County Multi Dragfaced Blend bricks, which evokes a sense of solidity and robustness. Lightweight metal cladding breaks up the brick expanse, helping to identify the campus’s different functions.The BenefitsThe new campus has successfully brought together nursery and primary age schooling under one roof with a range of enhanced facilities for pupils and for the wider community. The choice of building materials is an integral part of defining the different areas on site, from gym halls, to Early Years and classroom blocks.
Metal Technology systems used in Oxford’s new groundbreaking SuperLab

The extraordinary, purpose built SuperLab in Oxford provides much needed lab space and fantastic facilities for the next generation of science entrepreneurs and innovators. The new state-of-the-art building is located close to the city centre and the university, which spins out around 15 science firms a year. Created and built by Oxford-based Robin Swailes Design and Development, the SuperLab offers almost 7,000 sq ft of accommodation for up to 84 staff and blends contemporary design with the latest efficiency features while meeting the needs of the modern workforce. The building is made of 95 per cent recycled aluminium and features a grey water system using collected rainwater to flush the toilets, thermal efficient panelling, air source heat pumps and solar panels to minimise its carbon footprint and keep running costs as low as possible. Metal Technology Ltd supplied a range of its high-performance glazing products for this unique development via approved fabricator Alternative Windows. Products used were: System 17 Curtain Walling, System 5-35Hi Tilt Turn Windows, System 4-35Hi Fixed Casement Windows and System 10-35 Thermally Broken Commercial Doors. Curved walls, round windows and open ceilings create a sense of space and wellbeing, topped off with advanced acoustics, quality finishing touches and a playful interior. The result is an inspiring and design-focused workplace that encourages collaboration. Outside, a roof top recreation area provides space for al fresco meetings, eating and drinking with views over Oxford’s Dreaming Spires. A fantastic project to have been involved in, which ultimately encourages young and innovative science pioneers to stay and further their career on home soil.

Metal Roof Coating - Merlin Grey

This metal roof in Warwick was suffering from cut-edge corrosion, delamination of the factory finish, and spot corrosion.The specification called for a full liquid roof coating in Merlin Grey, which Liquasil was able to supply for installation by Nadco Roofing Services. Liquasil's Metalseal can be made in any RAL or British Standard colour to suit the client's needs.After the corroded surfaces had been prepared back to bare metal and the substrate had been jet-washed and dried, a single coat of Metalseal was applied to the entire roof at a wet film thickness of 350 microns.Despite the steep pitch of the roof, runoff was not an issue; the product stuck to the roof and did not drip, leaving a consistent, glossy finish that left the whole roof looking like new.Metalseal can be made in more than just the standard goosewing grey - if you have an industrial roof that needs coating, Liquasil can meet your needs - no matter the colour.Give us a call on 0121 709 5352, or email us at info@liquasil.com.

Metal roof coating project in Leicestershire

Failing factory finishes and cut edge corrosion were present across the entire roof and Liquasil's Metalseal metal roof coating system was specified as the most appropriate solution.
The roof was cleaned and all failing finishes and rust was removed as far as reasonably practicable.
The roof was then coated. In this case, two colours were employed.
Liquasil is the only company able to produce silicone coatings in any RAL colour.

AJ Wells designed, manufactured and installed just over 1000m2 of vitreous enamel wall cladding with a metal ceiling to modernise the public areas of Three Bridges Station and provide easy access to hidden electrical and telecommunication services.The metal soffit was designed and installed to act as both a water management system and create an aesthetically pleasing ceiling in the subway and platform access areas. The ceiling also incorporated inspection hatches so that the underside of the rail bridges could be inspected periodically by the relevant parties.AJ Wells carried out the installation work under extremely challenging conditions as Three Bridges station is open 24 hours a day throughout the year. It is impervious to water and water-vapour and it actually provided an element of exterior weatherproofing as the building works progressed: the interior works could commence whist the metal façade was still being installed. FOAMGLAS® insulation, with its unique cladding fixing system, kept thermal bridging to a minimum; the resulting U-value performance exceeds Building Regulations by more than 25%.With time, the KME Tecu Bronze exterior will take on a natural patina. The metal exterior has a potential lifetime of well over 200 years, hence it’s very important to use the right insulation with a proven long term thermal performance.With FOAMGLAS® thermal ageing does not take place. It is the ideal insulation to be combined with roof and façade materials such as KME Tecu Bronze.For the pitched roof FOAMGLAS® READY BOARD T4+ was bonded and sealed to the timber board structure with PC®11 adhesive. Metal Plates type PC® SP 150/150 were inserted into the FOAMGLAS® READY BOARD. A 180 g/ m2 sanded bitumen membrane was torch applied onto the surface.

Riverside age exclusive housing in Grantham is using aluminium boxing from the Pendock Profiles range to conceal pipework installed as part of South Kesteven District Council’s programme of heating system upgrades.Originally built in 1980, Riverside provides 50 one & two bedroomed flats, and the metal boxing covers both horizontal and vertical pipe runs across the front and sides of the buildings as well as the point where they enter each flat. The Pendock metal pipe boxing is bespoke manufactured from 2mm thick aluminium and incorporates Incorporating a PPC RAL 9005 black finish.

Metal Technology Ltd supplied a range of high-performance architectural glazing systems through approved fabricator Avtek Ltd.The project was designed by Fletcher Joseph Associates and delivered by Watkin Jones Group. The building contains 225 rooms and includes a variety of recreational facilities to enhance student living, including a breakfast bar, gym, karaoke and gaming rooms and designated areas for dining and studying.
