Heated Lockers were the focus of Helmsman’s most recent project. We travelled up to South Kirby in Pontefract, Yorkshire to work alongside Triton Construction at the brand-new Innovation Hub at Production Park. Production Park is a unique support environment for the live events industry, uniting technology, creative spaces and education. Their newest venture is the brand-new Innovation Hub, with a large research studio with connected offices and teaching spaces. The new innovation hub features specialist equipment designed to support the live events industry as well as a business support programme focusing on assisting SMEs.In an area off the main entrance lobby, Helmsman installed a set of Wet Specification Heated Lockers. With a mix of 1, 2 and 4 compartments, these lockers are designed with a single or twin tube heater at the bottom of the locker, hidden within the locker stand, and perforations throughout to allow warm and/or damp air to circulate and escape the locker. Triton Construction requested a modern, heavy duty laminate finish for these heated lockers. The body of the lockers was manufactured from aluminium and powder coated in colour Ice, whilst we used Biocarbon’s Solid Grade Laminate in colour Elegant Grey for the locker doors, end panels and cladding. This laminate is a great choice as it is carbon neutral as well as being moisture resistant and easy to clean, perfect for a semi-public area such as this project. Our heated lockers can either come with a standard 3 pin power plug or can be available with a spur to wire into a fused switch. Triton construction requested a plug which was positioned on the end panel of the bank of lockers.We paired stainless steel numbers recessed into the doors with Lowe and Fletcher camlocks for a seamless finish to the lockers.  This option of lock is simple and cost effective, whilst also safe and secure.It was great to work with Triton Construction on this project and we look forward to hearing about the success of the Innovation Hub at Production Park in the future. Helmsman’s latest project was an exciting one for the team. We were contacted by Bowmer & Kirkland who we have worked with many times in the past, to create a bespoke set of outdoor lockers for a project in Enfield.Bowmer & Kirkland are the lead contractor for The Chase Farm Development, which when complete, will be home to two new schools, One Degree Academy and Wren Academy, with a Community Hub and Sports Centre, plus 362 New Homes. With a range of outdoor space, the client had requested lockers to be installed along two external walls of the building. Whilst our Wet Spec Laminate Lockers are great for humid and wet environments such as leisure centre changing rooms, it was important that we considered the different impact that outdoor lockers would need to withstand.We designed, manufactured, and installed 158 bespoke, 4 compartment outdoor lockers at Wren Community Hub. The body was made with Stainless Steel, with doors and end panels in Solid Grade Laminate. A selection of colours were used, with Formica Laminate in Peaceful Blue, Lime and Dusty Jade for the doors, and Polar White for the end panels.The client also requested Sloping Tops for the lockers. These are a great addition to stop clutter and other objects being placed on top of the lockers, particularly helpful for lockers in public spaces as this project is. The sloping tops were made from stainless steel with Solid Grade Laminate over the top in Polar White to match the end panels.For the locks and numbering, the client chose oval laminated number plates with Lowe and Fletcher Camlocks, which make a great pairing.It was great to work on this bespoke locker project and highlights that Helmsman can help with a variety of requests and requirements for locker projects. Helmsman have manufactured and supplied three compartment luxury Glass Lockers that have been installed at Eos Interiors office in Birmingham. The formica storm colour against the white interior walls and Ojmar OCS combination locks give a modern finish. Special numbering plates were used to match the modern style. The Glass Lockers are floating in the middle of the wall thanks to our locker stands and cladding.

Helmsman manufactured, delivered and installed 172 two compartment heavy-duty laminate lockers with welled locker doors for Bombardier Services UK modern office space. Each bank of laminate lockers has an integrated cantilever bench running across it, which is a great space-saving solution.This locker room is an ideal space for staff and visitors. The bright area and durable lockers work well together.

Installer: LSA Projects Ltd and GeschwenderProduct: Geschwender Lockers and Metra Locking SystemLSA supplied almost 1000 lockers to Nottingham Emmanuel High School as part of a regeneration project in 2008. The lockers were commissioned by the school and designed by Geschwender to make the most of the space available in the curved concourse of the school.Lockers were also installed with Metra electronic locking, the school chose an RFID system which used the students existing ID cards to open their allocated locker when presented to the central access panel. Using existing cards meant that the school had minimal ongoing running costs as cards can be set-up and replaced by school staff without needing to order replacement keys or locks for students.Electronic locking also makes locker allocation and re-allocation easy and straightforward, master computers are managed by the school allowing remote access to lockers for changing user access settings and opening individual lockers without the key card if required.

North City Operation Depot is a dedicated staff-only depot facility will comprise of an office and welfare building with briefing rooms, training rooms, office accommodation, a serviced canteen, locker rooms, shower facilities, laundry facilities and drying room. The depot is to provide high quality facilities to enable staff to operate more safely, efficiently, and essentially so the City Council meets its climate action targets, based in Ballymun, Dublin.The client requested for leisure lockers with rolled carcases which helps with keeping the lockers dust free, with the measurements to be 1450mm high, 450mm wide and 500mm deep with the colour mixed between Fundermax and Poleyrey. The colours are mixed with wood effect and beige laminate. Within the lockers they decided to have shelves and internal dividers, additionally, in changing rooms they requested shelves, mirrors and drying racks which are 600mm deep, 2450mm long and 2000mm high powder coated in ‘Ice’.Within the leisure lockers they decided to go with was KitLock KL1200 which can keep the staff belonging secure within the lockers. The specification of the 78 bespoke Laminate Z Lockers was 1650mm high, 384mm wide, and 450mm deep. Laminate Z Locker was installed with seat stands allowing the employees to sit whilst changing shoes rather than having to balance whilst standing. Sloping tops were added to Z Lockers, which is a great feature as it keeps dust from building up and prevents anything from being stored on top of the lockers. Furthermore, bench seating was requested for in ‘Country Oak’ for a dry area that is perfect for an atmosphere free of moisture and humidity.Our customers requested the laminate doors to be in ‘Country Oak’ whereas the carcass of the lockers was powder coated in ‘Black’ in the Helmsman colour range. The seats were Helmsman Ash Hardwood, and the stands were powder coated in ‘Black’ to blend with the lockers. Bespoke laminate Z lockers were finished with oval laminated number plates and Camlocks are an excellent choice as it assures the employees that their personal belongings are safe and secure.

Our Glass Lockers with a mixture of three and six compartments filled the changing rooms in Ponteland High School, suitable for both wet and dry envirnoment. Main colours white and blue were used for the locker glass doors, and ABET Laminate colour infills in Spring White and California Blue. The colours and material give a mature feel in the changing rooms in both fitness and leisure areas. Ojmar OTS Basic locks are user friendly and were used for safety and ease. Overall the Ponteland project speaks for it self as it is aesthetically pleasing and provide high quality storage solution.

Helmsman had the luxury to manufacture, deliver and install around 180 Z lockers and several benches to commuter washrooms and changing rooms. The client requested wet area Z type lockers, which we provided in heavy-duty aluminium and stainless steel powder-coated bodies and solid grade laminate Z doors. The client choice of colour for the body was the standard ‘ice’ and, the laminate door was Grey Maple (619) from our Abet Laminati collection. Z locker sizes were bespoke to comply with the space. The sizes are 1800H x 378W x 450D + 1mm rivets and 1800H x 298W x 450D + 2mm rivets and end panels to match the lockers. The majority of the lockers are with standard cam locks, and 44 of the Z lockers are with a keyless operation of the Ojmar OCS Pro locks for security and sleek design. These locks have a digital keypad with an integrated handle. In these uncertain times, these locks are hygienic and easy to upkeep. Bespoke bench seating with shoe tray underneath, manufactured from hardwood slats, complement the lockers. The client specifically requested to have these made from hardwood which matches the laminate locker colour.

Meadows Business Park is undergoing a major repositioning, providing modern working for a post covid-19 world. With 3 refurbished buildings positioned in landscaped grounds, providing workspaces, offices, central café, gym, cycle storage and showers. Located next to Blackwater Railway station, tenants of Meadows Business Park can enjoy pop up shops, street food markets, walks around the 100 acre shepherds meadow and even Peloton bikes, as well as a range of classes in the gym.As part of the refurbishment of these buildings, we worked alongside OD Interiors to manufacture and install the lockers and bench seating for the cycle storage and shower areas. As part of the project, we provided 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the male changing rooms, 22 wet specification Laminate Z Lockers for the female changing rooms and bench seating for both changing areas and the cycle storeroom.The stunning Laminate Z Lockers were manufactured with an aluminium body, stainless steel door frame and Abet Laminate doors. The colours chosen were Mountain Oak and Ice White from Abet’s range of laminate colours. We work with a variety of suppliers of laminate, allowing us to offer a large selection of colours and finishes, from carbon-neutral options, wood effect styles, through to bright pops of colour.In each changing room, 13 of the 22 Z Lockers were fitted with seat stands, with the remaining 9 lockers fitted to stands. The frames for the stands and seat stands are powder coated in RAL colour white, with the seat slats in Mountain Oak laminate to match the locker doors. To keep the project slick and uniform, the end panels, infills and the cladding to hide the stands are in the Ice White laminate, also matching the doors.The locks chosen for the project were the Digilock Versa Keypad locks. These are a great choice for both assigned, or shared use, and so were perfect for the shared changing rooms at Meadow Business Centre. Blyth Sports Centre in Sunderland has undergone a creative £5m refurbishment redeveloping it as a ‘wellness hub’. Works include a new state-of-the-art gym and spa together with a modernised pool and changing areas. Designed by JDDK Architects with main contractors Brims Construction, Helmsman Lockers and Cubicles designed, supplied and installed a range of lockers and seating in both the spa and dry areas of the centre. Both sets of leisure lockers were 2-compartment using a Teak and Spring White laminate finish and complemented with matching bench seating.

Our most recent project was in Romford, London. We worked alongside Vincent Stokes on their refurbishment of the changing area at Central Park Leisure Centre. The project included a variety of new furniture for the changing rooms, Helmsman supplied new lockers and bench seating.The client chose our Leisure Lockers, which are manufactured with an aluminium body and solid grade laminate doors. These lockers are specifically designed to withstand an environment subject to high moisture, humidity and chlorine, perfect for swimming pool changing rooms such as this project. The choice of lockers for Central Park Leisure centre were a mix of 1 and 2 compartment lockers.Helmsman’s leisure lockers come in a variety of colours and finishes, and with a variety of suppliers, there’s a huge range of colours to choose from. For this project, Vincent Stokes requested lockers in 3 colours, with Greenlam Laminate doors manufactured in Pearly White, 268 Dust and 297 Blue Galaxy. These colours work brilliantly together and match the rest of the design in the changing rooms perfectly. A popular choice of lock for a leisure centre changing rooms is a coin return lock. The locks used for this project were Ojmar coin return locks, with wrist straps, perfect for a swimming pool environment to keep the keys safe whilst the customer uses the facilities. We also produced bench seating for the project at Central Park Leisure Centre, with both wall to floor benching complete with hook boards, and wall island benching. These were manufactured with Greenlam laminate slats in colour 297 Blue Galaxy to match the lockers and the rest of the changing room design. It was great to work with Vincent Stokes on this project. This is the new FalcoCargoBox manufactured, supplied and installed by Falco for registered charity - the Shoreditch Trust, on behalf of the London Borough of Hackney. Incorporating a dazzling, eye-catching branded theme wrap design, the FalcoCargoBox is located at the charities head office on Orsman Road, Hackney and provides users with secure accommodation for a wide variety of cycles including cargo bikes, e-cargo bikes, adaptive bikes and oversized bikes.The specially designed FalcoCargoBox is fitted with the FalcoSmart locking-app, enabling users to operate the cargo hangar with their smartphone, omitting the need for physical keys, fobs or swipe cards.As demonstrated here, one of the great features of the FalcoCargobox is how attractive it can look, with the smooth design of the locker enabling it to host a variety of patterns, images, maps, collages, optical illusions and themes.The images attached show the new eye-catching FalcoCargoBox delivered and installed by Falco this summer.The secure cargo bike locker makes use of a high security lock. Client: Pursuit CollectionInstaller: Geschwender GmbhProduct: Bespoke Cubicle Solution from GeschwenderOpened in 2021 Sky Lagoon in Kársnes Harbour, Kópavogur near Reykjavik in Iceland is a Geothermal Spa experience from luxury hospitality and attractions provider Pursuit. Pursuit Collection manage world-class attractions across the glove with facilities including wildlife safaris in National Parks and a growing collection of ‘FlyOver’ flight experiences in the United States, Canada, and Iceland.Sky Lagoon is a wellness retreat featuring their seven-step ritual experience including traditional sauna and steam room as well as the unique oceanfront geothermal infinity lagoon with unobstructed views of the ocean landscape.Geschwender supplied and installed a series of Bespoke Lockers and Changing Rooms to the spa. Sky Lagoon has both public and private changing facilities depending on the ritual package chosen each being carefully designed and installed by Geschwender in matching faux Oak laminates to reflect the natural ethos of the space. Lockers and private changing spaces are controlled using contactless electronic locking systems which are perfectly integrated into Geschwender fittings.

Lee Valley Ice Centre originally opened in 1984, and before closing in 2021 welcomed over 279,000 visitors each year. With the old centre reaching the end of its operational life, it was time to design and build a brand new Ice Centre at Lee Valley Regional Park. The new centre, due to open in April 2023 will be home to 2 new ice rinks, doubling the capacity of the old centre, and inviting in new visitors as well as welcoming back those who visited before.As part of the redevelopment of Lee Valley Ice Centre, 95% of the concrete from the old centre was used in the foundations of the new centre. With this and many other environmentally friendly choices made in the construction, Lee Valley Ice Centre will become the UK’s most sustainable Ice Centre.The fully accessible centre will maximise the opportunity for sports for everyone, and with two Olympic-sized Ice Rinks, a brand-new café, gym, exercise studios and various other facilities, Lee Valley will be able to welcome up to 500,000 visitors. The range of facilities will encourage a variety of new visitors, from committed skaters, though to people stopping for a drink in the café before enjoying the green space in Lee Valley Regional Park.At Helmsman, we were pleased to be contacted by the main contractors for Lee Valley, The Buckingham Group, to supply the lockers, cubicles, vanity units and bespoke high-level cladding. We manufactured and installed 268 Bespoke Heavy Duty Laminate Lockers, with a variety of compartment configurations, and a range of different locking options.Our Heavy Duty Laminate lockers are a great option for high traffic areas, as they are more likely to withstand scratches and dents, so were a perfect choice for Lee Valley Ice Centre. The lockers also feature bespoke perforations in the doors and aluminium number plates. A selection of the lockers also have seat stands with the slats in matching laminate. A variety of locks were also used across the lockers in this project, with Ojmar Hasp locks the main choice for users to use their own padlocks, as well as Ojmar coin return locks and Lowe and Fletcher cam locks.The cubicles chosen for this project were our Front Line Cubicles with Hidden Fixings. These cubicles are tailored to suit the needs of the particular project, with bespoke sizing available. The fixings are hidden to provide a smooth surface and aesthetic finish. The cubicles were manufactured with 12mm Solid Grade Laminate from BioCarbon Laminates in colour Luna Grey, a fantastic carbon-neutral option which aligns perfectly with Lee Valley’s aim to be the first sustainable Ice Centre in the UK.As we manufacture all our products in house, and to order, we specialise in bespoke items. The project at Lee Valley Ice Centre featured bespoke high-level cladding, which our highly experienced installation team fitted on-site.Other products on this project included metal framed IPS panels, using both Luna Grey and Elegant Grey laminates from BioCarbon Laminates, and Helmsman High Pressure Laminate Vanity Units.It was great to work alongside Buckingham Group again for the Lee Valley Ice Centre project. These are the two eye-catching FalcoCrea cycle lockers Falco manufactured, supplied and installed for NHS Forth Valley Hospital in Larbert, Falkirk, last month. Creating additional cycle parking facilities for visitors, patients and members of staff when travelling to and from the hospital, the two new cycle lockers adds a sixth designated cycle parking zone across the NHS Forth Valley site.The FalcoCrea cycle lockers, purchased in collaboration with Cycling Scotland and Transport Scotland, accommodate up to four bikes each, in a purpose designed cycle locker with integrated cycle rack and secure access. The new facility is located at the west side of the Blue Car Park, outside the main entrance and promotes cycling as a method of transport to all visitors heading for the main entrance, thanks to its bold, eye-catching wrap design.The FalcoCrea has proven to be a highly popular cycle locker since its launch last year providing hospitals, local authorities and private businesses with a cycle parking solution which answers three common problems; security, spacing footprint and branding. Sustainable transport charity, Moray Carshare, continues with the rollout of its new e-Bike rental service, with the latest addition at Tulloch Park car park in Forres, North of Scotland.Featuring a new installation of the FalcoCrea cycle locker, complete with vibrant, eye-catching branding graphics provided by the charity, the cycle locker is now equipped with two e-Bikes for members of the public to rent, with a further two more coming in the spring.The latest e-Bike service shown here at Tulloch Park now joins existing e-Bike rental stations at Fiddich Park car park and Speyside Way Visitor Centre, creating a network of e-Bike cycle rental hubs operated by the charity.The image attached shows a festive elf cutting the ribbon to the latest FalcoCrea cycle locker and announcing it open with members of the public now able to rent eBikes for as little as 99p per hour!The FalcoCrea has proven to be a highly popular cycle locker since its launch last year providing local authorities, with a cycle parking solution which answers three common problems; security, spacing footprint and branding. Falco designed, manufactured and installed the new e-Cargo bike storage hangars for the UK’s first e-cargo bike share scheme launched this week in Hackney. Operated by Beryl bikes on behalf of Hackney Council, the scheme is the first of its kind in the UK offering public cargo bike hire.The specially designed FalcoCargoBoxes are fitted with the new FalcoSmart locking-app which is linked to the Beryl booking app enabling users to hire one of the brand new e-cargo bikes and open the cargo hangar with their phone.The scheme was launched in Stoke Newington on ‘World Car-free Day’ as part of the tri-borough Zero Emissions Network (ZEN) of Hackney, Islington and Tower Hamlets. Eight new Raleigh cargo bikes, capable of transporting goods up to 80kg, with 3 levels of power assist will be available to rent from four docking stations across Hackney, with two in Shoreditch, close to the borders with Islington and Tower Hamlets, one in London Fields and one in Stoke Newington.Attending the high profile event were Will Norman - the Mayor of London's Walking & Cycling Commissioner, Cllr Mete Coban MBE, Cabinet Member for Energy, Waste, Transport and Public Realm and Cllr Rowena Champion, Islington Council’s Executive Member for Environment and Transport. Our team at Helmsman manufactured and installed 30 two-compartment solid-grade laminate lockers at Doug Philips Ltd. The specification of the lockers was 1800mm high, 300mm wide, and 450mm deep. The clients requested for the two-compartment lockers to be manufactured with an internal shelf and angled shoe tray within the lockers. Additionally, all the lockers had a perforated base which allows airflow into and out of the lockers.The body of the lockers was powder coated in ‘Black’ which is from our standard colours, whereas the laminate doors are in colour ‘Artic White’ by BioCarbon Laminate, which is a beautiful colour providing an aesthetic and organised area. The laminate lockers were completed with vinyl numbering as well as Lowe & Fletchers Nimbus combination lock in Black.

In total LSA have supplied over 3,000 lockers to sites at Elvedon, Whinfell, Woburn and Sherwood in addition to hundreds of cubicle solutions and vanity stations to the changing villages. Center Parcs and Holder Mathias Architects specified brightly coloured bays of lockers to help guide guests through the areas of the changing villages.Original installations used traditional coin and key access for their lockers but all sites have now been fitted with Metra systems for keyless lockers. The smart-wristbands issued to Center Parcs guests at check-in works as both the key to their accommodation and their tool to assign lockers at the Sub-Tropical Swimming Paradises and Spas.Using smart locker allocation has the added bonus of allowing guests to locate their specific locker from hundreds on each site using a central display monitor and allows staff to clear locker allocations overnight for cleaning and ready for new guests in the morning.

We provided a bespoke locker where each employee can operate a unit of 4 compartments with one key giving them access to a twin locker for storing their clothing on one side and collecting clean workwear from the other side. Two further locker compartments above this provide storage for footwear and lunch boxes. The sloping tops keep the room clutter free and reflect the light around the room. At each end the design includes lockers for crash helmets; these bespoke lockers match the colour scheme and merge with the others to provide a unique managed system.

Keeping key workers' possessions secure and orderly Following specification approval, LinkLockers supplied andinstalled:• 500 single-door time share lockers operated using a tokenacquired via wall-mounted dispenser located at the entry tothe facility.• 2,000 personal possession lockers, secured by padlocks.• To prevent the risk of material accumulating, sloping topswere incorporated on locker runs.• The lockers also featured a unique ActiveCoat® protectivefinish as standard, to help reduce the risks associatedwith bacterial cross-contamination from surfaces with highcontact frequency, such as lockers. ActiveCoat®, testedextensively in trials, has been proven to work in hospitalenvironments by reducing levels of bacteria by an averageof 99.9%.A Whittan solution, designed, manufactured andinstalled using LinkLockers mild steel lockers.

Helmsman System 2000 lockers 3 compartment with plant on doors are supplied and fitted at the Health Club. Helmsman System 3206 Seating are in use also to match the lockers. Helmsman System 3208 Hook Bar is also fitted to match the lockers.
