However an area of the building in need of additional accessibility could not structurally accommodate the construction of a vertical lift shaft. Demonstrating the firm’s commitment to EDI, the firm worked with lift and escalator consultants to find a solution that would make the building even more accessible.The consultants decided that a stairlift in an existing stairwell would be the best possible solution, but building a multi-level inclined lift would be a significant engineering challenge. Stannah was then selected as the lift company to supply and install the lift.It is Stannah’s longest-ever inclined platform lift , travelling over 29 metres of travel and ascending 7 flights of stairs.

A triplex of customised Stannah lifts are delivering vital office access and goods movement in the Record Store, an Art Deco, former record-pressing factory and part of the £250m regeneration of The Old Vinyl Factory, erstwhile home of record label EMI, in West London.
The triplex operates in wall-mounted shafts in the spacious lift lobby, an integral part of the compact, central core. Their design supports an efficient blueprint, also minimising the structural impact on the building.
This core also doubles as a fire-fighting shaft, comprising a firefighting stair, mechanically ventilated firefighting lobby and a firefighting lift.

Following multiple escalator and lift installations at the Midlands hub of Birmingham New Street and Grand Central for Network Rail and Mace, Stannah were again the chosen supplier and installer of all vertical transport within the southern entrance building (known as the LSSE scheme.), this time working with main contractor Carillion to fulfil the brief. The work was completed by the Stannah Escalator & Moving Walkway Department and Stannah Major Projects team in just twelve weeks.

Rising into the clouds at the top of Mount Snowdon, Wales, the summit centre required a short travel lift in a tight alcove for less able visitors – to replace an old, unreliable lift. Transporting the lift to the top of the mountain on the Snowdon Railway was part of the challenge, with weight and size restrictions.
The Gartec 7000 platform lift fit the bill, with a 410kg limit and wheelchair sizes without a huge footprint. The modular parts were ideal for transport to the top and the small 50mm pit and minimal building works were ideal.
