Challenge  When Emaar Properties unveiled the Dubai Fountains, it had created yet another visually dynamic feat of engineering to enrich Dubai’s iconic landscape. The world’s tallest dancing fountains, a dazzling fusion of water, light and music, designed by California-based WET, the creators of the Fountains of The Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.Powerful mechanisms shoot jets of water as high as 150 metres, equivalent to a 50-storey building, keeping 22,000 gallons of water airborne at any one time. Over 6,600 lights and 50 colour projectors create a palette of over 1,000 different light displays synchronized with classical, Arabic and world music.Set on the 30-acre Burj Khalifa Lake in Downtown Dubai, the fountains sit alongside Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, and The Dubai Mall, one of the world’s largest shopping and entertainment destinations. Like its neighbours, the fountain is the product of world-class engineering and the spirit of innovation and excellence which have made Dubai one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.An important part of the technical achievement that sustains the fountain’s dazzling displays is hidden well below the water. The installation consists of five circular fountains and two arcs contained by a 275m artificial lake. Below the bed of the lake are fully submerged, interconnected tunnels containing critical fountain operating equipment, control rooms, and miles of cables. SolutionThe concrete formulation for the tunnels, including the all-important waterproofing specification, was a particular challenge of the project. Intended as an enduring attraction for Dubai’s retail heart, longevity and reliability were paramount in the materials engineering and casting of the concrete.The concrete mix for the tunnel structures, using some 22,000m3 of concrete, included integral waterproofing provided by PUDLO modified concrete. PUDLO inspectors from both the UK and UAE visited the site during the initial stages to consult with members of the project team from Hyder Consulting and Al Futtaim Carillion. Technical aspects of the final concrete formulation were resolved as well as the ‘design’ of the pour – aspect ratios, layouts and reinforcement – for the best outcome.PUDLO’s local inspectors supervised the project on-site throughout, from quality-checking the concrete batching plants to overseeing all the pours.  ResultThe level of technical support and inspection provided by PUDLO was one of the reasons why we were chosen to meet this prestigious project’s rigorous performance demands.The Fountains were inaugurated in May 2009 by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The display of fountains has become iconic and would not have been possible without the vital role that PUDLO played in its construction.

Engaged with Heathrow's management team to build upon the current offering of water fountains and help to reduce the amount of single-use plastic bottles used on site, with the introduction of a series of drinking fountains with integrated bottle filling stations. The bottle refill stations and drinking fountains went in to terminal's 2, 3 & 5 for the air side passengers. All equipment meets strict water authority guidelines (WRAS approved) and also are wheelchair accessible. 15 customised robust rapid filling stations were installed and continuing servicing and support is provided to keep units' best condition at all times.

GEC Anderson were chosen to supply stainless steel classroom worktops, drinking fountains as well as fabrications for the main school kitchen.Classroom worktops have integrated sink bowls and are mounted on wall hung stainless steel base cabinets, also by GEC Anderson. The cantilever arrangement allows for uninterrupted floor cleaning and easier working and access to the sink units. It also facilitates the ability to mount the worktops at the height appropriate for pupils. GB4000 wall hung drinking fountains were specified in the corridor areas. The units can be mounted at any height to ensure access for the children. Within the main kitchen, sinks and and worktops include leg frames with solid undershelves in order to maximise the limited space available.Brushed satin stainless steel (EN 1.4301 grade) was used throughout.

Artform Urban Furniture were appointed by Lendlease and Gillespies to provide a number of waste / recycling units and a water fountain to a new public green space in the centre of Elephant and Castle.The Box Litter Bin is a versatile and highly adaptable design that features a variety of finishes to complement a range of external spaces. After receiving a suite of options from our sales team , the client opted for a hardwood clad door option with powder coated steel frame. The combination of materials sit naturally within the new green space. The bins come complete with an anti-graffiti coating and bespoke designed designation plate to front of bins and bespoke stubber plate to top of general waste bins. The Fuente fountains provide fresh drinking water, an environmentally friendly option for members of the public to fill up their water bottles and save on plastic waste.Elephant and Castle is a central London neighbourhood that has a long and fascinating history dating back as long as the reign of the roman empire. In recent years, £4bn of public and private money has been invested into the area in a major regeneration project. Thousands of new homes are being built and the town centre is being revitalised with new shops, offices, restaurants and the largest new green space in London in 70 years.Elephant Park is a spectacular 2 acre green oasis at the heart of the ground-breaking project - featuring a huge array of plant species, play areas, seating spaces, water features and the aim to be the UK’s first climate positive development when completed in 2025.

A successful roll out of 10 bottle refill stations with drinking fountains across the school to help reduce single-use plastics on site and provide hydration to students and staff. We recommended the installation of WRAS-approved Halsey Taylor chilled indoor unit that are also ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) approved meaning they can be easily accessed by wheelchair users as well. Capable of processing up to 1.5 gallons of chilled drinking water per minute, these fountains meet the demands of the school, and hands-free bottle filling mechanism and antimicrobial coating also maintain a high degree of hygiene.

Sole supplier of the 100 drinking fountains across London. Working with the global partner Elkay, specialist stainless steel units were chosen which are WRAS-approved (Water Regulation Advisory Scheme) and meet strict water authority guidelines. The units are also vandal resistant and outdoor rated. To ensure the expected design finish, MIW also engineered, project managed and fitted the marine-grade stainless steel droplet which sits on top of every “Drinking Fountains for London” refill station. Post installation, MIW will provide continued scheduled sanitisation visits, support and aftersales service for 25 years subject to satisfactory performance reviews.

Supplied 30 high quality WRAS-approved indoor and outdoor drinking fountains and bottle refill stations for the largest sporting ground in the country, attracting around 3 million visitors every year. All drinking fountains installed meet strict water authority guidelines (are WRAS approved), as advised by Wembley’s Technical Division. They are also compliant with the Equality Act (2010), ensuring that they would be easily accessible for wheelchair users, they're hard wearing, easy to use and vandal resistant. We continue to manage the units' sanitisation and servicing, ensuring that they are always hygienically clean and in full working order.

Helios, the sun god of Greek mythology, is a three-metre high gilded bronze statue designed by renowned artist TB Huxley-Jones as the centre piece of the old BBC Television Centre courtyard. As part of the redevelopment of the iconic BBC Television Centre, civil engineers Arup required an engineered drainage solution for the courtyard surrounding the Helios statue and fountain.

Witley Court is a ruined Italianate mansion built in the seventeenth century and expanded in the early nineteenth century by the Architect John Nash. In 1937 a major accidental fire broke out and whilst the building is in ruins, it is Grade I listed and in the care of English Heritage who restored the formal gardens and fountains. Bolton Gate were engaged to design and manufacture gates replacement gates to provide night-time security with special folding bottom tracks to leave the floor surface intact and installed with great care to maintain the building’s status.

Our customer required a solution where the floor drains and channels could withstand the variance of temperature in the spa, and support footfall from the public, whilst maintaining an luxurious appearance in line with the environment. Alongside the drains for the changing room showers, using a bespoke design, BLÜCHER created a circular channel to surround the ice fountain, and an arched channel in grade 304 stainless steel with an infill grating to accompany the experience showers. Our infill gratings were the perfect choice for this spa setting, allowing a flawless finish of the chosen floor type against the drainage, completing the aesthetic appeal of the room

Creative Campus is Angel Field, a magnificent 21st century Renaissance garden. Built-in 2010, as the final stage of the redevelopment of the campus, the garden features fountains, a performance amphitheatre, an angel statue and beautiful reflective spaces and has become an oasis in the heart of the city.

Engaging with the customer to determine the most suitable hydration solutions for their staff and visitors that would have a capacity to dispense a large amount of water and fill large number of water bottles. Consultation, providing all technical information needed and then successful installation of aesthetically pleasing, WRAS approved, robust Halsey Taylor drinking fountains and bottle refill stations. We're continuing to support the customer with regular servicing and maintenance of the units.

Provide a range of outdoor and indoor bottle refill stations and drinking fountains to providing hydration options for visitors and staff. The site receives in excess of 39,000 visitors daily during the Wimbledon tennis grand slam tournament, so the machines had to be durable, weather and vandal resistant, WRAS-approved and withstand the large footfall. We also ensured that the bottle fillers adhered with Wimbledon’s dress code – a prerequisite RAL 6005 green – without reducing the outdoor filler’s weather-proofing. Each unit WAS hand-painted with a specially prepared RAL 6005 textured powder-coat finish prior to installation.

Successful installation of WRAS approved high capacity Halsey Taylor sports bottle filling stations and drinking fountains required to hydrate 25,000 students, staff and visitors. The University was looking for a sustainable solution for rapidly refilling water bottles and providing alternative hydration solutions for the busy campus. MIW provided consultation, details technical information and installation the units. We're continuing to support and service the machines in order to maximise their benefits and keep them clean and long lasting.

Franke Sissons were thrilled to be chosen to supply their stainless steel sanitaryware products on the recent extension to Serlby Park Academy in Doncaster. Four of Franke Sissons Centinel drinking fountains & six stainless steel circular washtroughs were supplied. “We use Franke Sissons products regularly on our projects, as not only are we guaranteed the highest quality, but products are available in a short lead time. Worked with the Museum's team to determine the best option for their drinking fountain and a wall mounted censor operated Elkay bottle filling station was chosen. Successfully completed an installation of this high capacity bottle refill station to help hydrate visitors and help reduce plastic waste on site. WRAS and ADA approved unit is fully compliant with all water authority regulation, accessible to wheelchair users, vandal proof with rapid bottle filling technology. We're continuing to service the units regularly.

The aim of Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket – home of Lancashire Cricket Club, was to reduce waste plastic while providing an additional service for visitors. We successfully managed installation of nine outdoor bottle refill stations and two indoor units. These drinking fountains cater for a large number of users – the grounds’ capacity is 26,000, with most seats filled during tournaments. These Halsey Taylor units are highly durable, robust and fully accessible for wheelchair users in line with the Equality Act (2010). MIW continues to provide regular service to all units installed.

Successfully supplied 35 outdoor drinking fountains and bottle refill stations to be installed across Scotland. Each unit was branded with the organisation’s bespoke livery and, Scottish Water adapted to feature tracking devices to monitor each fillers use. All units supplied were WRAS approved, outdoor rated, stainless steal and vandal resistant to ensure they can both withstand cold Scottish weather as well as mitigate any damage that may occur. Throughout the project, the MIW team were able to suggest improvements and equipment upgrades which would negate the potential for future unit failure and damage.

Successful installation of a high capacity bottle refill station for colleagues and visitors at the Environment Agency's offices helping keep everyone hydrated and promote refill culture and avoid plastic waste. The drinking fountain installed has rapid bottle filling technology, is simple to operate, hard wearing, WRAS approved and aesthetically pleasing. We provided initial consultation, engaging with the team to figure out their needs, then an engineer survey providing all necessary technical information and finally installation of the units. Continued support and service for the units is also provided.

Installed bottle fillers and drinking fountains across the TfL network, including some of the UK’s busiest stations: Waterloo, Imperial Wharf and Cannon Street Station. Being sited in very busy public spaces, the drinking equipment installed are durable and vandal-proof, also easy to use and accessible to as wide a number of users as possible – including the wheelchair users, in accordance with the ADA American with Disabilities Act & the UK Equality Act (2010). WRAS-approved stainless steel TfL branded machines were installed. MIW is continuing to install more units and provide further support and maintenance to ensure immaculate condition.

Installation of Liverpool Street Station’s WRAS approved robust bottle filling stations to provide passengers with an alternative hydration solutions when travelling. The drinking fountains installed are quick and easy to use in order to cope with the high volume of station passengers (66 million every year), highly durable and vandal resistant. The chosen units are designed to be accessible to all, in conformity with the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act and the UK’s Equality Act (2010). WE continue to provide aftercare service for these bottle fillers.

Helo UK Ltd completed the installation of a wellness suite at Old Thorns Golf & Country Estate in Liphook, Hampshire. The installation comprised an attractive Herb sauna with a large feature window, heated by two Rocher designer sauna heaters loaded with 240 kilos of stones for excellent infusion. The other attractions include an Aroma steam room, ice fountain, heated loungers, heated bench and footspa combination.

The development at The Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate was the biggest spa project in the UK 2016/2017 and the biggest project installed by Sauna360 UK. Sauna360 installed thermal rooms, pools and plant over three levels. Lap pool, hydro pool, roof top spa, Rasul, Pool side sauna, Panoramic sauna, Luxury steam room, three feature showers, foot spas and heated benches, ice fountain and herbal bath.
