Project Wick is a film studio located within Chiswick Park, which comprises of 1.8 million sq ft of award-winning accommodation, arranged as a necklace of 12 office buildings. Located in London, Chiswick Park is home to some of the world’s leading companies including Starbucks, Qualcomm, Pepsico, Paramount, and Discovery.Discovery Networks Europe, the pan-European arm of leading factual entertainment group Discovery Inc., relocated its European headquarters to the Richard Rogers designed Chiswick Business Park. In the new building there is ample space for offices, screening rooms, and transmission facilities. We were called upon to design and install a box-in-box solution to acoustically isolate the recording studios from the other areas of the building, thereby preventing unwanted noise and vibrations from becoming a nuisance.A Stravifloor Channel floating floor using isolated steel battens in combination with medium stiffness natural rubber pads (Pad-M50) and plywood and soundbloc plasterboards guarantee an isolation frequency of less than 10 Hz.The floating floors in these box-in-box rooms are complimented with our resilient head detail (Stravilink RHD) and Stravilink PHS isolation hangers for the ceilings.

The design of this bathroom needed to reflect the client’s colourful, modern and eclectic aesthetic, whilst still allowing for a tranquil, restorative space in which to batheHandmade Moroccan concrete tiles by Popham Design in a soft green shade feel serene and natural, but also inject a pop of colour. Elsewhere in the room, design is kept minimal, modern and almost industrial in its simplicity, with a neutral colour palette and brushed nickel tapware. To visually expand the space, the layout of this bathroom was re-designed to make the room feel elongated, and draw the eye in. To complement this, the Moroccan tiles line the floor and furthest wall behind the wet room and back-to-wall Eldon bath.Of the design, designer and stylist Edwina Boase said: “The Eldon bath was perfect for this bathroom; its elegant, modern shape was echoed in the patterned tiles, lighting and tapware. The Louis A. Simpson and Kimberly K. Querrey Biomedical Research Center will provide critical space for scientists researching cancer, heart disease, neurodegenerative disorders, diabetes, and other critical areas of study. The Perkins+Will design features a curved glass exterior with flexible floor plans for laboratories. The tower profile references and updates the soaring traditional Gothic buildings on Northwestern’s Chicago campus, presenting a striking profile on the city’s skyline and leading the way for future campus development.

The design requirements to resist flooding meant Polar single glazed with 30 minutes fire integrity was installed. Komfort’s Polar single glazed partitioning was a large contingent to the interior design of the lower ground floor. Polar single glazed minimalist form is designed with the minimum of components, thus facilitated speed of erection without compromising structural stability and rigidity. Komfort’s 3000 fire doors were installed on meeting room doors to meet stringent safety requirements.

Lamb Street in Spitalfields Market is a popular route for visitors to walk along with small retail and food kiosks. The area has been sympathetically transformed into a new public space while retaining a semblance of its industrial heritage.Lang+Fulton have supplied 184m2 of open mesh floor grating for the pedestrianised area where customers can sit and enjoy the street food. A heel proof grating was chosen with a small 33x11mm aperture for a safe and comfortable experience.

As a part of a large refurbishment of two outdated 1980’s office buildings separated by a large open courtyard, their new European Headquarters were looking for an efficient, reliable and stylish instant boiling and chilled water system. As the offices are spread across several floors, accommodating a large number of people was the key requirement.The company approached us with a clear requirement for an energy-efficient and reliable boiling and chilled system with a sleek design to match their contemporary break out areas.

The new FIX A320 TACK adhesive was among the Bostik products that – combined with the company’s technical expertise – recently enabled the installation of the flooring on the large site of the new Grange University Hospital in Wales.The state-of-the-art £350m Specialist and Critical Care Centre in Llanfrechfa Grange, Cwmbran is the first major hospital to be built in Wales in more than two decades. It has 2,612 rooms and provides more than 40 specialist services, supported by 3,000 staff.

Coopers were commissioned to design and manufacture a bespoke curtain barrier system that, in the event of fire, would guard against smoke penetrating the upper floors of the store. Through regional partner Souchie, Coopers installed a series of Smoke Stop™ vertical smoke curtains above each escalator specifically designed to protect the means of escape for customers, whilst at the same time dramatically reduce the transmission throughout the building of life threatening gases generated by fire.

In 2019, Allan Corfield Architects approached us to create a contemporary kit for their client in Craobh Haven which they planned to exceed energy efficiency standards set out by building regulations.June 2023, we began erecting the kit on site. The build is split over 3 floors but is unique as it's built into a cliff with the main feature being an overhanging cantilevered middle storey. The clients could not have found a better plot with uninterrupted views over the Inner Hebrides.

ComFlor 80 has played its part in the creation of a strong and efficient solution making the Burj Khalifa the worlds tallest and arguably most iconic building.Over 45,000m³ of concrete weighing more than 110,000t, were used to construct the concrete and steel foundations, which feature 192 piles buried more than 50 metres deep. 4000m² of ComFlor 80 was used in in the floor construction installed to the very top of the 828 metre spiral structure.

Factory International will transform the former Granada Studios into a world-class cultural and arts venue in the heart of Manchester. It features The Hall, a large auditorium, and The Warehouse, a flexible multi-purpose space that is taller than four double-decker buses, longer than a jumbo jet and can accommodate 5,000 visitors.Alongside the two public events spaces are The Towers, which house the ground floor entrance foyer, five floors of office space and a plant room at the top of the building. Noise reduces productivity by 66% so when it came to specifying the soffit insulation for The Towers, the architect wanted a solution that would limit airborne sound transfer and reverberation.The insulation would be on display, so aesthetics was also important, and because Factory International will cater for large crowds of people, the chosen solution needed to be non-combustible.Meeting the briefThe architects specified Knauf Insulation’s 50mm Heraklith® Tektalan A2 SmartTec for the soffit insulation in the ground floor foyer of the Warehouse area, main feature staircase, offices and plant room of The Towers.Heraklith® Tektalan A2 SmartTec is a cement-bonded wood wool panel combined with a rock mineral wool insulation core. Both materials have an open structure that naturally absorbs the kinetic energy of sound waves, turning them into heat. It is also non-combustible with an Euroclass A2-s1,d0 reaction to fire classification.Crucially, the Heraklith® wood wool range is also designed for applications where aesthetics is important because the panel is on display. It features bevelled edges and comes in nature tone as standard, or can be ordered in any RAL colour upon request, to create a stylish, uniform finish.To compliment the design schemes in the different zones across the building, contractors, Mansell Building Solutions, ordered the panels in a combination of midnight blue, pebble grey, anthracite and black.Scheduling deliveriesAs the Factory International site is quite compact, there was little room available for storage. So, Knauf Insulation worked closely with distributor Encon Insulation to ensure the insulation was held in stock. Smaller deliveries were then made in line with Mansell Building Solutions’s schedule of works. This ensured that the insulation could be installed as soon as it arrived on site.The product is quick and easy to install. Panels are fixed into position by installing Heraklith® DDS Plus Concrete Screws into each corner and the centre of the panel. The fastener heads have a patented wood wool texture to enhance the finished appearance.Ultimately, installing Heraklith® Tektalan A2 SmartTec onto the soffits in The Towers and the ground floor foyer of the Warehouse not only compliments the design scheme and contributes to fire safety, but it will enable the team behind the events at Factory International to enjoy a quieter working environment too. 

Client: RAF LossiemouthLocation: Moray, ScotlandYear: 2023Project size: 1300 m²Vebro systems: vebrocrete SR, vebrores EP SL SR, vebrores EP HBCA range of durable, high performance floor coating systems were required for the main garage, workshop, foam storage areas, corridors, kit room and mechanical and electrical plant rooms in the new crash, fire and rescue station at RAF Lossiemouth.The new crash, fire and rescue station at RAF Lossiemouth was part of a £10.7 million scheme awarded by Britain’s Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).Built by South-Derry firm, Henry Brothers, as part of a wider upgrade programme at the Moray station, the new building allows RAF Lossiemouth’s professional in-house firefighters to reach any part of the airfield in under two minutes.The main garage, workshop, foam storage areas, corridors, kit room and mechanical and electrical plant rooms represent the finishing touches to the north-east Scotland station, with construction of the new facility beginning in August 2021, future-proofing the Moray station for years to come.The site had already benefited from early completion of the resurfaced runways, installation of advanced communications and improved drainage among other enhancements to its operating capability.Several Vebro Polymers’ seamless resin-based flooring products have been expertly installed by Rothes based contractor, Hendersons, within various locations across the new site, including the main garage, workshop, foam storage areas, corridors, kit room and mechanical and electrical plant rooms.A slip-resistant, 6.0 mm polyurethane concrete system – vebrocrete SR – has been used in all engine bays alongside complementary coving within the main garage, to deliver sufficient compressive strength to withstand the rolling load from heavy 13-tonnes fire safety vehicles as well as ensure a slip-resistant profile underfoot to optimise safety, minimising slip / fall risks.  vebrores EP SL SR has been chosen for areas subject to slightly less arduous service criteria and lighter loads, including foam storage areas, service areas, corridors.In the less frequented, and therefore less trafficked, back-of-house mechanical and electrical plant rooms, as well as in the Engine Test Facility, vebrores EP HBC, was chosen.  As the latter area required a routine refresh, the surface was prepared, primed and re-coating before adding vibrant yellow linemarking to regulate traffic movement.Established over 40 years ago, Hendersons Ltd provide a range of industrial painting, decorating and flooring services.Hendersons’ dedicated resin flooring team carry out work in the construction, distilling and brewing, food manufacture and aerospace industries. Continual training of existing staff and development of trainees in all of the company’s service offerings ensures that Hendersons continue to offer an unsurpassable service. 

In the new Ceramic Tile Distributors (CTD) showroom in Woking, Surrey, tile products by Saint-Gobain Weber have been specified for their new 400m² sales facility which includes an extensive showroom and trade counter.Relocation of Ceramic Tile Distributors (CTD) from their original showroom on the junction of Goldsmith Road and Church Street West to Kestrel Road a few miles away was brought about by the £150m redevelopment of Woking town centre."The relocation of CTD has not presented a problem," says Rob Stevens, manager, CTD Woking. "The showroom looks brilliant – it's bigger and better, and our trade custom has definitely increased. We also attract lots of private customers who enjoy the simplicity of the large sample displays and the huge variety of tiles for every location."Several site visits were made by Weber's tile specialists to inspect the floor substrate and identify the appropriate materials. The floor was prepared with weber PR360, a multi-purpose priming solution suitable for most building substrates including wood, anhydrite, plaster and cement/sand screed. This primer regulates the porosity of the substrate and improves adhesion and the flow of levelling compounds.High performance, fibre-modified weberfloor flex was then applied which is a self-smoothing and self-levelling compound suitable for most substrates. It has rapid setting qualities and can take light foot traffic after just 3 hours. It is also one of the many products in the Saint-Gobain Weber range to feature Low Dust Technology™ which makes it cleaner and more comfortable for the applicator to use.Large format GEMINI Young Stone tiles in grey were set with weberset rapid plus ECO which is a very rapid strength tile adhesive for low porosity tiles, such as ceramic, porcelain and natural stone, and has been specifically developed to allow easy bedding of large format tiles. It is suitable for use on solid substrates and is ready for grout in only 2 hours. The new ECO formulation contains cement replacement technology which reduces the product's environmental impact of initial excavation and contributes to a significant reduction in transportation costs.The CTD Woking showroom floor was grouted with weberjoint wide which is suitable for very wide joints from 2-20mm. This is a cement-based floor and wall grout which gives a coarse textured finish. It has the added benefit of Mould Stop Technology which ensures lasting protection from mould growth, it's also abrasive-resistant and available in seven colours.As part of Woking's redevelopment, the bandstand, fire station and market place will all be demolished to make way for a new complex featuring shops, apartments, parking and a hotel. On the old CTD site a brand new state-of-the-art fire station is to be developed providing additional space and working areas for the crews and an improved training facility.

Flowcrete UK has supplied a floor finish for the publicly accessible campus vision to transform the dated 60’s office building into a vibrant new space for students and art lovers alike. The project specified 300m2 of the seamless, self-smoothing glossy resin system, Peran SL, as it met both the aesthetic and functional criteria. The hard wearing system will maintain a high performance finish for an extended period of time despite the heavy foot traffic, scuffs, and general wear and tear that it will inevitably face.

Gradus' Stratus carpet in Flint (grey) was installed in all of the school classrooms. The carpet forms a clean, blank canvas for the bright accent colours of the furniture and fittings.Primary barrier matting from the Esplanade range was installed to the main entrance and all side entrances reducing the amount of tracked-in dirt and moisture.ADM1 aluminium stair edgings with Jet (black) slip-resistant inserts were fitted to all staircases defining the step and helping to ensure the safety of all users circulating between floors.

The Ochiltree Community Hub is in the heart of the Cumnock community in Ayrshire, Scotland. EGGER were delighted to donate EGGER Protect structural flooring boards and Joint & Joist Adhesive to this community project. Located less than 2 miles from EGGER’s Barony plant in Auchinleck, the contribution to the redevelopment by the company helps to benefit the residents of the local area. The aim of the community centre development has sought to support the local community and surrounding areas with a number of initiatives in line with their charitable aims.

This is a mixed-use development, planed by Marks Barfield Architects, creating 17 new homes. The purpose of this project is to promote the wellbeing of people, embracing circadian design principles. The building will include gardens and planting areas alongside office spaces, with a “forest floor” to the atrium spilling into the reception of the building. In this project Effisus Vapour FR Class A2 system was used to prevent the condensation risk, improving the airtightness and consequently the energy efficiency of the building, applying an A1 Vapour FR membrane.

New development Colindale offices is recently home to London Borough of Barnet staff and community facilities. Furnitubes has supplied 6 table and bench sets and a further 7 independent benches from the RailRoad Inline range, with ‘Delta’ supports that can be readily bolted down to the decking of the new roof terrace located on the 4th floor. Eleven RailRoad planters have been placed in the gravel margins to perfectly compliment the nearby seating, and planted with contemporary box topiary balls.

The Tees Valley Hospital located on Church Lane in Acklam, Middlesbrough has used the Genesis NSL26 with a black insert for its staircase leading from the ground floor to the upper. The NSL26 is a slimline rakeback nosing that provides an excellent level of anti slip which is the perfect choice for a health care unit. The NSA stair edge trims have been used in conjunction with the NSL26 and they finish the staircase off perfectly by providing protection for the step ends whilst remaining aesthetically pleasing.

Situated in the centre of Stratford Parks, a holiday home complex just outside Stratford-Upon-Avon, The Muddy Oar has been refurbished in a quirky nautical style. Hospitality interior experts, Design at Source have styled a luxurious contemporary interior that reflects the history of the riverside location with an idiosyncratic yet tastefully restrained nautical theme. A range of Karndean flooring designs bring an authentic rustic style with a modern twist, complementing the wood structure of the building and highlighting different seating and activity zones.

Maida Vale Studios is a complex of seven BBC sound studios of which five are in regular use. Since its launch in 1934, the studio has been used to record thousands of classical music, and dramas for popular radio channels such as BBC Radio 1/2/3 etc. It has also been the home to BBC Symphony Orchestra. Installing recessed Matting at the Entrance of the BBC Studios a great way to sustain the life of the flooring beyond therefore improving the aesthetics of the interior and enhancing the building.

Architect: Simon Whitehead Architects This extension and renovation to a detached house in South London has completely transformed the living space by creating open plan rooms filled with light thanks to the innovative use of windows and sliding doors. The centrepiece of the works was a single storey ground floor extension that extended the kitchen and usable living space, whilst connecting the house with the garden thanks to a corner opening set of IDSystems' Grand Slider II aluminium sliding doors and a large fixed frame picture window.

Perfectly blending into its surroundings, the entrance matting at 22 Bishopsgate helps create a blank canvas to showcase the contemporary artwork adorning the foyer. At the main entrances, INTRAflex XT is used in the primary matting area, while a combination of INTRAflex XT and INTRAflex Radial are used within the revolving doors. The mats all feature INTRAlux Linear fibre inserts in Grey 451 to match tonally with the floor. Together, the ribs of the fibre and mix of matting systems provide a subtle textural contrast to the hard surfaces.

Intu derby is a large shopping centre located in the heart of Derby. Home to over 200 stores, shoppers are sure to find what they are looking for. The centre plays an important role in adding to the vibrancy of Derby city centre and the region, creating a busy hub for its community and tourist industry. Keeping all these shoppers safe is of paramount importance for the centre’s management. As a result, they chose to install the INTRAform DM Heavy Duty Entrance Matting to protect the internal flooring and ensure a clean and safe environment.

As with all balcony constructions, the issue of cold-bridging (also known as thermal-bridging) must be addressed and minimised to meet the required building standards - Part L of the Building regulations being of particular relevance. The H-BAU ISOPRO® thermal insulation element from J&P solved this problem by providing structural connection between the internal concrete floor slab, and the external concrete (insitu, or precast) balcony, whilst creating a thermal break to minimise cold-bridging.

Angled Walk from the Clerkenwell collection contrasts to identify the various meeting spaces in this dynamic workspace.

Q-railing was asked by Bond Bryan Architects to provide specifications for a glass balustrade that would surround the escalator void on all 3 floors. The Q-railing architectural team was involved very early in the design process and could therefore provide tailored advice on which type of balustrade and fixing to use. The Easy Glass Slim glass balustrade contributes to the state-of-the-art appearance of the new building. This flagship showroom now is a natural fit with what VW wants to reflect: continuing growth and success.

Located in an historic part of Dublin, surrounded by Georgian and Victorian architecture lies One Percy Lane: 3 high-end townhouses. Underneath the curved, zinc roof, the 3 homes have been designed to maximize light and space. Designed to bring serenity in the bustle of the city, each floor connects to the outside with large windows and terraces. Percy Lane features Reynaers CF 77 and CP 155(-LS) sliding and folding door systems, and CS 77 aluminium window systems.

Battersea Reach, an award-winning development consists of 1,350 apartments spread over 14 separate buildings surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, shops and cafes. Buzon UK supplied and installed the DPH pedestal range for the composite decking and paving to many of the terraces and balconies across the 14 separate apartment buildings. The DPH pedestal system is perfect for use at roof level as they allow for 5% slope correction and can accommodate a range of services beneath floor level as well as giving excellent drainage.
