AAS Ltd were employed by Kingston Joinery Contractors to supply 1300 sq/m of White Beech Plywood Panelling to the Main Sports Hall. The panelling design comprised of solid panels together with slotted/drilled panels. The perforated panelling is designed to provide sound absorption to the sports hall and also to provide an aesthetic back drop. In certain areas, perforated panels are not used in the traditional sense of providing sound absorption, but, kept open to allow light through into the sports hall from the glass façade behind.

Protection Board - London Aquarium

The contractor was relaying a waterproof membrane immediately above the London Aquarium and naturally the client was concerned about leaks with such precious livestock beneath. The waterproofing was torch-on bituminous felt membrane, due to be covered with road grade asphalt. Protecto-board was laid onto the waterproofing and secured with tape. It was cut to shape around the curbs cleanly and effectively without leaving vulnerable areas and without delaminating or crumbling, or leaching bitumen. It protected the waterproofing from temporary construction process damage and permanently protected it when covered with hot road grade asphalt afterwards

Snowdon Summit Building

The Summit Building at Hafod Eryri (Mount Snowdon) is located at 3,560ft (1,085 metres) above sea level - the highest point in the British Isles outside Scotland. Externally the Magply boards are being covered with a vapour barrier and a 100 mm layer of high performance foam insulation. On top of this, at first floor level, a resin based render system is being applied, featuring a base coat, reinforcement mesh, and two more layers. The Bronze Project

The Bronze project contains multiple banks of COM 2 Steel Door – 127 that are wall recessed and both accept mail at the front, and allow for mail to be retrieved at the front. The project uses mailboxes that have a bronze effect that both compliments the wooden finish of the walls that the boxes are fitted in, and enhances the style of the location.

At a dizzying 160m (525ft) tall, London’s distinctive Walkie Talkie building required an exceptional roofing solution. Designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and costing over £200 million, 20 Fenchurch Street is a 34-storey commercial skyscraper in London, known as the ‘Walkie Talkie’ building due to its top-heavy form. It is designed to have a BREEAM excellence rating. Sarnafil G410-12EL single ply provided the perfect solution to this design criteria, thanks to its excellent flexibility and weldabilty, while offering outstanding resistance to weathering, including permanent UV irradiation.

The Atrium Building, Sandyford

SAS International delivered unrivalled metal ceiling solutions for a stunning refurbishment to The Atrium Building, Sandyford. SAS was selected for its unique SAS740i linear ceiling solution with integrated lighting. This ceiling design, characterised by floating rafts, influenced the entire atrium design. Specified in a contemporary grey, SAS740i rafts were suspended 20m below the glass atrium room through a stainless-steel cable system. Black SAS130 Mesh tiles were also installed to contribute to the industrial architecture. Completed in November 2018, SAS designed and delivered timeless metal ceiling solutions that will bring the building well into the next phase of its lifetime.

America's Test Cup Building

Portsmouth is home to the Land Rover Ben Ainslie Racing America’s Cup sailing team. TAC Projects were employed by the main contractor - Allied Developments - to provide the roofing and cladding works. TAC Projects have a long standing trading relationship with Fixfast, and looked to them to provide fastening systems which would satisfy all the needs and requirements for such a project. Fixfast provided all the fasteners needed for securing the external building envelope on this iconic and prestigious project.

Roscoe Building, Manchester University

TRC Windows

Built in 1964, the Roscoe Building is the hub of the Faculty of Science at Manchester University. Designed by Cruickshank and Seward, it was named after 1860s Professor of Chemistry, Henry Roscoe. In 2009 we supplied the replacement windows for a refurbishment project undertaken by architects Farrell & Clark. The original windows were of German origin and advanced for their time: center pivot windows, to maximize light in the laboratories. To keep a consistent look we supplied the same style of windows but aluminium clad on the external face for ease of maintenance; and double glazed for energy efficiency.

iDecking Project - Finchampstead, Berkshire

This 115m² project was a large luxury new-build. The decking required two distinct build-up methods around the house. One section was on a waterproofing membrane, the other on a steel framed walkway. Adjustable support pedestals were loose-laid onto the membrane. iDecking aluminium rail system was set onto the pedestals and EasyClick boards were clicked into place. Pedestals lifted the decking structure off the membrane allowing free drainage and creating a level surface on the falling roof. Aluminium rails were mechanically fixed to the steel structure and the whole terrace was set to one, seamless level wrapping around the house.

The Willis Building, Ipswich

AET Flexible Space

The Willis Building in Ipswich originally constructed in 1974 and credited with listed status in 1991 undertook extensive refurbishment in 1999 including the installation of underfloor air conditioning to create additional office space. The underfloor system was specified by FC Foremans as a solution to overcome English Heritage planning restrictions and limitations associated with ceiling based air conditioning systems. The installation of a false ceiling was considered undesirable and studies demonstrated that perimeter air conditioning was impractical.

Maulyte Building Contractors transformed its industrial unit into a modern office suite and high specification showroom. FUSION® Commercial balustrade was installed on two flights along the entrance wall and side wall, providing access from the ground to the first floor. The staircase was a straight closed string with a straight step. The first flight consists of 6 steps, leading to a quarter turn with landing. A further 12 steps form the final flight, which finishes with a 90° turn top landing.

Avant-garde Project. London.

The Avant-garde project features multiple banks of mailboxes that include both vertical and horizontal mail types. The mailboxes used in the project were produced using our high-quality Stainless Steel material with a 316L grade finish. The banks of mailboxes are divided between wall mounted and freestanding installation, providing a solution for a project where the available space is limited. The banks of freestanding mailboxes were mounted upon a support frame custom designed for the project to provide a secure and stable base for the banks.

The Rolex Building, London

nVent Thermal Management

nVent was brought in to employ a variety of heating solutions at the London Rolex Building. Rolex was looking to convert its heating to a simpler, lower cost single pipe system requiring less maintenance. nVent provided hot water services using the RAYCHEM HWAT single pipe hot water temperature maintenance system. More than 400 meters of cable were installed to provide hot water all the way to the point of use, 600 metres of pipe freezeprotection to safeguard the chilled water supply lines from freezing. In addition, the entrance foyer welcomes visitors with the warmth of RAYCHEM QuickNet floor heating systems.

Marr College, Troon, Scotland - Pyroguard Integrity Plus, Rapide Plus & Protect

Pyroguard provided expert technical guidance to cater for the project’s constraints of working within a listed building and more than 300m2 of Pyroguard toughened glass, including Integrity Plus T EW30/6, Rapide Plus EI30/EI60 and Protect T-EI60, was chosen for its unrivalled quality and safety features. Protecting against flames, smoke and radiant heat, the selected glazing range has the advantage of providing Marr College with additional radiant heat control and greater fire protection. In tests this glass demonstrates the ability to maintain the amount of radiant heat to below 15 kW/m2 on the unexposed face, protecting critical evacuation routes for occupants.

The Print Works Project

The Print Works project featuring multiple banks of bright and colourful freestanding mailboxes used in a student accommodation building, helping to create a visually interesting location. The mailboxes used in the project are the classic and extremely popular H1 mailbox which both accept mail at the front and allow for retrieval of mail at the front of the mailbox. Each mailbox in the project uses vinyl lettering allowing both students and postal delivery personnel to enter and retrieve items in the correct mailbox.

Exeter Grade II Listed Building Recieves New Fully Built-Up IKO UPXL System

IKO provided a new fully built-up IKO Ultra Prevent System including an IKO enertherm ALU Tapered Insulation Scheme. This not only enhanced the falls to drain rainwater more effectively but also upgraded the thermal value of the roof which will save the Pre-School money on their heating bills. IKO designed a bespoke solution, in keeping with the building’s grade II listed status which also assisted with achieving the u-value upgrade required for current building regulations. The client was highly satisfied with an IKO 25 year single point warranty.

University of Hertfordshire - College Lane Residents Project

The College Lane campus is currently undergoing an exciting three year development programme designed to transform the living space and surrounding recreational areas. RCM were appointed to supply their Y-wall system – a calcium silicate based fibre cement building board which offers excellent A1 Non-Combustible fire properties as well as high levels of dimensional stability. Being extensively used on timber frame structures, Y-wall provides the ideal solution.

Ted Todd Fine Wood Floors

Multiple designs of flooring and cladding were specified for this project at Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal. 180mm Husk was used alongside fired chevrons, creating a raw and industrial feel. Bespoke plant pots were also made by hand in our Cheshire workshops, which added a unique finishing touch to the space.

It has participated in projects in over 160 countries, including some of the most prestigious architectural structures in the world, such as the Sydney Opera House, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the 2012 London Olympics. The majority of new and existing buildings require safe access to the roof area for ongoing building maintenance and to service specialist equipment. Arup regularly advises its clients on fall protection systems for this, and by working with MSA, they are able to meet the various requirements needed for their clients.

Sunderland University, Fleming Building

So much more than a refurbishment project, Sunderland University totally transforms the Fleming Building science complex. Located in the city of Sunderland, the faculty was keen to change the culture within the various departments in the complex. Wanting to promote collaborative working, improve staff and student interaction, create a better student experience, develop research opportunities and integrate research and teaching activities were at the forefront. As part of the refurbishment, the new state of the art laboratories and research facilities were equipped with class leading Hacel Lighting products.

Wall Protection - Nottingham Free School

The school underwent a complete refurbishment in September 2015 and chose to use a very pale blue paint scheme throughout most of the building. Within 3 months the areas within the school that see heavy traffic, including corridors and the dining hall had begun to show signs of scuffing and wear, due to the pupils knocking against the walls with their bags. The site manager at the school was concerned by the level of damage and began to consider wall protection products to combat the problem. Gradus supplied and fitted the school with wall protection solutions to prevent further damage.
