Crieff Hydro Hotel is a leading family resort situated in the Scottish Countryside. It was recently the job of Borthwick Decorators Ltd to update the accommodation using products from the GORI range by PPG, which has recently been made available across the UK and Ireland.

Borthwick Decorators opted to use GORI 99 Extreme Opaque Wood Finish for the project, which penetrates deep into the wood for robust and durable protection against mould, fungus growth and blue stain for up to 15 years.

The Base comprised of a 60mm open grade macadam (20mm stone diameter) applied on to an MOT Type 1 Sub-Base. This is the preferred Base Buildup for Resin Bound Surfacing. Benefiting from being permeable and exhibiting excellent flexural strength.

The Charter Building in Uxbridge extends to five floors, each over an acre in size – as part of its refurbishment project, Signbox was commissioned to deliver an internal wayfinding solution and external illuminated signage. The icon-led wayfinding scheme utilised high-tack, self-adhesive Mactac films; the fire retardant, laminated graphics were applied to various surfaces including plasterboard, doors, brick and concrete walls and car park floor. The main external illuminated signage was installed at height, drilling through the distinctive façade’s tiled cladding; 30mm deep opal acrylic letters were manufactured on concealed rails to obscure cables and fixings.

This development shows the diversity and rapid installation of both the ProRend EIFS rail system and ProWall rainscreen cladding. Following our calculations of wind loads, u Values, specifications and CAD details, Building Control accepted our proposed systems and work began. SAS carried out 8 further site visits ensuring quality installation at all stages.

The subfloors were prepared by applying Stopgap P131 primer, followed by Stopgap Green Bag fast setting smoothing underlayment. Heckmondwike Hippo carpeting was then installed in the entrance area using Styccobond F3 Flooring Adhesive. Flotex carpet was laid in classrooms, secured by Styccobond F44 Acrylic Flooring Adhesive, which was also used to install Altro Walkway vinyl floorcovering in community areas and toilets...

Deptford Fire Station is a Grade II listed building in Lewisham having been originally constructed in 1903. Bolton Gate supplied the folding appliance bay doors in the 1960’s and although still functional after fifty years, they were in need of replacement due to frequent usage. Since the building is listed, every effort was required to replace the doors on a like for like basis and Bolton Gate were engaged to supply new folding shutters to the same design which were installed and handed over recently. This is the latest in a list of several fire station contracts undertaken in London.

The project features multiple banks of wall recessed ‘Fire Rated 2’ mailboxes located in the entrance lobby area. The banks of mailboxes are completed with a surround trim used to mask the join between the mailboxes and the installation wall. Large panels are used in conjunction with the banks of mailboxes which allow for easy identification of the relevant mailbox for both the residents and postal delivery workers.

Klimahaus® Bremerhaven 8° is a spectacular exhibition complex, north of Bremen, Germany. The idea behind the large project is a simulated journey around the world measured at eight degrees 34 minutes east. This is the longitude of Bremerhaven and all the other locations on the journey: Switzerland, Sardinia, the Sahel, the African rain forest, the Antarctic, Samoa, Alaska and the north Frisian island of Langeness. Teckentrup provided smoke and fire doorsets to ensure unobtrusive and safe everyday passage and emergency egress for visitors to the exhibition. Almost every doorset was individually planned.

Planet was approached by dn-a architecture and Bowmer and Kirkland with the task of designing and installing a five-story central atrium with additional fire-solutions. Planet offered a streamlined design to ensure a stunning appearance with a time-conscious installation. P20XL was used with 40dB Rw toughened laminated glass for the atrium.This helped create the 100-meter long 'street' that ran along the heart of the building. FireStop E30 single-glazed partitioning screens, with FireTec doorsets and automated sliding doors were also installed.

The configuration and refurbishment of the department was undertaken to improve patient flow, the overall environment and to rationalise inpatient and outpatient areas to satisfy privacy, dignity and capacity issues. Yeoman Shield’s (Harrison Thompson) directly employed fixing operatives, who have been assessed as being competent to install such passive fire-resistant products by FIRAS, installed fire rated door protection panels, PVCu clad Glazing Bead Units and Door Edge Protectors to various doors throughout the unit.

No timber was allowed as part of the new refurb to conform to FM Global (Airbus Insurers) regarding system fire rating. IKO recommended an overlay on the existing deck, which complied with all the latest British Standards and Regulations. IKO Mach One System was chosen as it provided a flame-free System. Where detailing was difficult IKO Polimar EC/UV System was used. The roof refurbishment also included the installation of smoke vents, associated smoke control panels and accessories.

Southport Pier is the second longest pier in the UK measuring just over 1,000 metres long. It is Grade II listed and one of the oldest iron piers in the country. A high build epoxy/polyurethane paint system specifically formulated for maintenance based on our Temabond ST200, Temacoat RM40 & Temadur 50 which has an excellent track record in the UK for maintenance of critical steel structures providing a highly durable protective coating solution suitable for aggressive coastal locations.
