After an enquiry from Tenterden Town Council in 2013, Jacksons installed 65m of 1 metre high Anti-Trap Bow Top fencing and 3 matching single leaf gates around the play area. Over ten years later, the fencing and gates could almost pass as being new, showing no signs of weathering. Seeing first-hand the quality and longevity of Jacksons’ fencing and gates, and wanting to choose another sustainable solution, Tenterden Town Council made no hesitation to contact us again. Over 80 metres of our EuroGuard® Regular fencing and two 4.9m wide EuroGuard® Flatform double leaf gates were installed by our own team.

In order to keep the students safe at the new site and mitigate the risk of trespassing and vandalism, perimeter fencing and gates were required to secure the grounds, which next to a busy main road also presented the danger of oncoming traffic. We supplied and installed 61 metres of 2 metre high vertical bar Sentry® fencing around the perimeter of the school site. Plus four manual single leaf pedestrian gates to match the fencing, two with push pads to stop unauthorised access from the outside.

Located on the outer perimeter of Tonbridge is a new retail complex featuring several large retailers such as Marks and Spencer and Halfords. The site is located close to existing residential properties at neighbouring roads with a row of trees and bushes and a mesh fence previously separating the site loading depot and local residents. To alleviate noise disturbances and light pollution to local residents, the decision was made to replace the existing mesh fence with an acoustic fence on the northern boundary located nearest to the residential properties.

Established in 1787, Lord’s is the most famous cricket ground in the world, and well known for its glamour and historic charm. With sustainability high on the agenda for developments, it made sense to choose a fencing company when the need arose, which shared the same ethos and supplied products to satisfy green requirements. Jacksons' Venetian Hit and Miss fence panels were installed with gravel boards, capping rail, and slotted posts, to provide privacy across the windows of the Thomas Lord Suite, replacing the existing timber fencing that had fallen into disrepair.

Three villages and 2,450 new homes have been built in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. We provided 335 metres of 4m high Jakoustic® Commercial and Highway acoustic fencing which was installed on top of the earth bund. Jakoustic® Commercial and Highway fencing is installed on galvanised steel I-beams which provide strength and durability. It is also the only complete timber acoustic barrier system to hold a CE mark. For this project, reflective acoustic fencing was used, which works by reflecting noise away from its flat profile, which is very effective in large open spaces.

The golf course at Gillingham Golf Club is split into two areas on either side of a main road. In recent years the boundary on the road had been demarcated by timber palisade fencing, which although looked aesthetically pleasing, is not suitable for sites where there is a need for a perimeter security fence. To reduce the risk of break-ins and vandalism on the golf course, we supplied 352 metres of 2m high Barbican® fencing, which features a square pale design and has an anti-climb construction.

Due to the close proximity to residential areas and various commercial properties including a performing arts theatre, it was essential to provide noise mitigation to minimise disruption and noise pollution for the surrounding areas, particularly during night times. We supplied a total of 280 metres of Jakoustic® Commercial and Highway Reflective acoustic fencing in two sections of 2.5m and 4.5m heights. The timber acoustic fence features 34mm thick ‘V’ boards and is designed to eliminate gaps that sound can pass though, resulting in a noise reduction of up to 28dB*.

A recent project in a rural location near Sandwich, Kent involved a creative restoration of a former engine shed to provide five spacious homes that boast a high-spec contemporary interior, while retaining the character and appeal of the original building. The developers opted for our Featherboard fence panels; a timeless style of fencing that satisfies the need for privacy with its simple, solid design.

When it came to updating the school perimeter and sports fencing, Oakdale Primary wanted a solution which would keep students, staff and guests safe and provide reliable access control. To achieve both aims, Jacksons Fencing Sentry® Residential and EuroGuard® Flatform were selected.

BAE Systems recommended Jacksons Fencing, one of the UK’s leading designers, manufacturers and installers of security fencing and access control systems, for high security solutions at Portsmouth Naval Base, England. Princess Royal Jetty is the berth for HMS Queen Elizabeth, the the largest ever surface warship built for the Royal Navy. Jacksons successfully completed the works in time for the vessel to set sail from her new home for the first time in October 2017.

We supplied 180 metres of 1.2m high bespoke Bow Top fencing with extended base plate posts to allow it to be stepped around the perimeter. The panels also had additional pales to provide extra strength. We also supplied a pair of 3.1m wide manual Bow Top gates matching the height of the fence, to provide a safe and welcoming entrance to the church grounds.

Jacksons Fencing has supplied and installed perimeter security fencing at Bickley Park School, an independent school in South East London. The school site consists of a mix of listed buildings and newer contemporary facilities, all set in attractive grounds. The modern structures include a purpose-built nursery, with strong environmental credentials, and a new multi-purpose astro pitch, to complement the existing sports facilities.

A leading supermarket in Leicestershire situated near a flourishing housing development came to the attention of local residents when the noise associated with the running of a major mixed retail outlet became too much by the constant flow HVG. Jacksons employed multiple solutions for this issue including - Installing a large 13.2m Acoustic gate with a 9m opening and a smaller single leaf automated swing gate with Acoustic fencing which helped to reduce noise levels from running components within the supermarket delivery area.

Ashchurch Villas is a £30 million residential project in Hammersmith, West London undertaken by Balfour Beatty. The project included 15 villas and 7 stylish mews houses and required over 450m of Jacksons fencing with a contemporary design to provide safety and security to residents as well as automated and manual gates to provide access control.

Mote Park is a 450-acre green space within the town of Maidstone, Kent. The expansive park has woodland, grasslands and rivers all surrounding a 30 acre lake. The park attracts over one million visitors a year and provides source for a range of activities such as water sports, family fun days, dog walking and wildlife spotting. To safely secure the perimeter of the new play area we supplied 230 metres of Anti Trap Bow Top fencing and a number of matching gates.

Mote Park is a 450-acre green space within the town of Maidstone, Kent. The expansive park has woodland, grasslands and rivers all surrounding a 30 acre lake. Used car sales have dominated the automotive market in recent years, and this trend has subsequently boosted BCA ‘s business, creating the need to expand one of their popular auction grounds at Paddock Wood, Kent. Jacksons were approached to supply 56 metres of 2.90m high Barbican® vertical bar fencing in a standard galvanised finish.

Within the school grounds is a grassy area with play equipment that needed to be demarcated in order to distinguish it from the rest of the playground and allow different age groups to play simultaneously yet independently. We supplied 19.1 metres of 1.2m high Anti Trap Bow Top fencing, and a 1.2m high 1.5m wide single leaf self-closing gate, both finished with a blue RAL 5010 polyester powder coating to match the school colours.

A housing estate in North London was recently redeveloped to provide more houses and flats to cope with the ever growing demand in the capital. Because the estate is near to a busy road and behind many shops, restaurants and light industrial properties, an acoustic barrier was required to mitigate the noise of deliveries, traffic and general day-to-day noise. To achieve the desired reduction in noise, we supplied 135 metres of 6m high Jakoustic® Reflective fencing to run alongside the estate behind the adjacent commercial properties.

One of the largest and busiest ports in Europe required a major upgrade to its perimeter security fencing. Due to an increase of migrants trying to cross the borders illegally, there was a need to improve the fencing around the port to ensure people who did not have the correct paperwork or permissions to travel across the border were kept safe and out of harm’s reach whether it’s those attempting illegal breaches into the port site or those responsible for preventing them from doing so.The fencing was designed to prevent migrants from trying to stow away on trucks; usually, this would happen as the truck slows or comes to a stop, and the migrants would run and get inside the trucks to hitch a ride across the border.A migrant camp nearby, which it is reported housed more than 10,000 people, ensured a constant threat of illegal migrants trying to cross the border. Many displaced migrants congregate here in an attempt to cross the borders by illegal and dangerous means. People smugglers were a constant problem, many promising migrants jobs and security once they had crossed the border.The SolutionZaun HiSec 358 Fencing was installed along both sides of the main road into the port, which aimed to prevent the migrants from getting onto the vehicles as they slowed or came to a halt. This anti-climb mesh fencing system features 12.7mm x 76.2mm tight mesh apertures, which prevents people from getting a foothold and scale the fencing to get over and prevents objects from being passed through the fabric. It also provides resistance to cutting by conventional hand tools and is employed extensively in higher security applications supported with detection and surveillance technologies.In addition to the anti-climb mesh, Zaun’s Flexible Security Topping (FST) was also installed to the top of the fencing to ensure that anyone who did somehow manage to scale the fencing could not get a grip over the top of the fencing. FST is designed in such as way what it moves as people try to climb it. Installed with concertina wire, this provides the port with a fence that works as a visual deterrent and a practical one.High-security temporary fencing and barrier systems, including SecureGuard, were also installed around the port, which provides high security, a movable border that can not only be easily converted into a PAS68 HVM perimeter but is also movable if the perimeter needs reducing or expanding for any reason. This movable barrier system also featuring FST and concertina wire as a topping for an additional deterrent.

For secure mental health units, the safeguarding of both their patients and the general public is paramount. Therefore, it is imperative that patients cannot leave the hospital grounds to ensure that they cannot threaten anyone or themselves. Therefore, secure, sturdy and reliable fencing is a necessity. However, to promote relaxation and recovery for anxious and agitated patients, it is necessary to maximise the capability of this fencing to ensure that it is restful rather than solely restrictive.So, how is it possible to ensure that high-security fencing can also be calming to patients?Secure Mental Health UnitsSecure mental health units in the UK require a high level of security because they often house people who have been previously incarcerated or those who have been admitted to the hospital after committing a crime. In addition, they deliver care to patients who may pose a risk to the general public and try to help their patients recover by offering accommodation, treatment and support.Patients in secure hospitals are not allowed to leave and cannot escape if they pose a danger to themselves or others. Therefore, the security is always extremely stringent inside and outside each unit.What are the Requirments of Secure Units?Security and safety of patients is a priority for NHS mental health units. A mental health unit is not a prison; it is a hospital where patients are cared for and nursed back to recovery with treatment and support. Patients mustn’t feel like they have been locked up, and the environment needs to be calming so that patients can enjoy the restful environment conducive to their recovery.However, it is also essential that patients not come and go because the unit delivers high-level security on a secure mental health unit. Therefore, any perimeter fencing must be extremely secure to keep the patients from leaving the hospital, and patients must also not be able to break down or scale the fencing.Therefore a duality must be created where a prison-like environment exists without the hospital being perceived as a prison by the patients on the unit.The SolutionZaun HiSec Prison fencing is used as a solution to all the requirements of secure mental health units. Every panel of the HiSec 358 close mesh fencing is specifically designed to ensure the safety and security of patients within the unit.In addition to the 358 mesh, the fencing features 1.5mm solid steel sheets, pre-galvanised, powder coated and printed with an image. Converting the former Olympic Stadium to the London Stadium when it became home to the West Ham football club was a significant civil engineering feat. The landmark structure on the capital’s skyline initially cost £486 million when built to house the 2012 London Olympics.A redevelopment between 2013 and 2016 to transform the Olympic monument into a football stadium for the Premier League club cost a further £323 million. The groundbreaking design included adding the most extensive cantilevered roof globally, powered by state-of-the-art technology typically used on North Sea oil rigs.Additionally, the group installed 21,000 new retractable seats to bring fans in the lower tiers closer to the action, while they also added new catering facilities, toilets and executive facilities. The former Olympic stadium was almost totally rebuilt to create a 54,000-seat dual-use arena that would still be suitable for athletics.Stadium fencing and gatesZaun was commissioned to supply security stadium fencing and gates for the London Stadium. In preparation for the 2012 Olympics, where over 10,000 athletes from more than 200 countries competed in London, Zaun developed a walkway system that would enable technicians to work safely at height to install fencing as well as attach CCTV and security enhancements to the highest parts of the fencing.Project ChallengesThe project required a range of unique and innovative solutions because of the varied challenges that were in play. The system needed to adhere to strict health and safety regulations, especially as working at heights has many potential dangers, and worker safety is a huge priority. We needed to create a cost-effective solution that installers could use in various venues and areas.We also needed to ensure that this walkway system did not damage the 358 mesh. The walkway also needed to facilitate the repair and installation of Perimeter Intrusion Detection (PID) and pulse-monitored electric fencing systems and razor wire. As such, it was essential that installers could easily and safely access materials, equipment and tools.Biggest Sporting Event In The WorldAs the Olympics is one of the biggest events in the world, global attention was on London and the various venues needed to be as secure as possible. From camera operators and athletes to volunteers and security personnel, the huge number of people involved in the Olympics meant that the security team needed to be able to see as much as possible at all times. To do this, it was best to put the security monitoring equipment along the fence line to survey the whole area and reduce the requirement for additional civils for CCTV cameras. Security measures during big events like the Olympics need to be incredibly stringent. The installation of these surveillance and security measures is of utmost importance to the security of the entire event.Innovative Walkway SystemZaun designed and manufactured a unique walkway system that allowed installers to work at heights safely without damaging the mesh fencing. Our innovative system was designed specifically to support the installation and maintenance of 358 security mesh fencing, CCTV cameras and electric fencing at the top of the fence line. We created an innovative walkway solution that easily attached to 358 mesh so technicians could check and access the security measures whilst safely working at height.

Taw Wharf is a new waterfront destination placing contemporary design and modern amenities alongside the historic listed buildings of the medieval Long Bridge. The full development will encompass a range of apartments, penthouses and townhouses adding up to a 172 newly designed homes. Hyperion Composite Fencing was selected for this project. Project BreakdownLed by local housing experts North Devon Homes and Pearce Homes, the 30-acre site will have close references to the character and materials of the site’s maritime history and its riverside wharf location to create a vibrant community.Located in the premier town of North Devon, the project is close to both the country and the coast. To enhance its natural beauty and rural living, all new release townhouses will offer an outdoor area. The development is nearing completion with the first viewings taking place beginning of August 2019.The SolutionEnviroBuild provided 3,118 m² of Hyperion Pioneer stone fencing for the townhouses’ front gardens and parking spaces. The non-rot, low maintenance panels made it the perfect material to fence the residential homes. 49ers Enterprises Ltd, the corporate venture capital arm of The San Francisco 49ers focused on sport, has acquired full ownership of Leeds United Football Club with a commitment to bring fresh leadership, management and investment.Recent improvements at the Club have included a steel louvred fence.Lang+Fulton supplied an Italia-100 steel louvred fence to screen the parking area for coaches at the Club. Italia-100 provides a high level of security with anti-climb properties and 100% visual screening. The fencing stretches to 111 linear metres behind the West stand of the stadium.Each RHS post was double-holed to allow for the installation to be stepped along the entire length of the fence run to accommodate the gently rising ground. Access for the coaches was provided through an extra wide 7450mm double leaf gate.The specification for the fencing and gates was for a height of 2500mm. This was achieved by seamlessly stacking an extension panel on top of the standard 1975mm panel with a flat bar frame on either side.The panels posts and gates were hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated Grey (RAL7016) for a durable, long lasting finish.

London 2012 organisers always planned, as part of their Olympic legacy, to transform the Athletes’ Village into a purpose-built education and leisure campus with a specialism in performing arts comprising a nursery, primary and secondary school, sixth form and adult learning.While the main base for organising and managing teams from the record 206 nations that took part would readily convert to their new educational purpose, they needed a fencing solution to reduce the impact of noise from the Tube line that runs alongside.The SolutionContractor Osborne, Academy architects Allford Hall Monaghan Morris, and Lend Lease Group, responsible for the design, development and construction of East Village, chose Zaun’s DBS acoustic fencing for the job.Zaun used mixed recycled waste plastics to develop the DBS panels that can deflect noise, soak up flying fragments, and be incorporated onto Zaun’s extensive range of fencing post and panel systems to tailor specifiers solutions to their precise needs.The panels are easy to erect and suffer shallow repair needs, significantly reducing the whole life cost of the fencing system. The new Sports Centre at Meadowbank replaces the stadium which was used as the main venue for the Commonwealth Games in both 1970 and 1986. The modern state-of-the-art facility will provide a wide range of sporting and fitness activities for the local community and clubs, as well as a training centre for elite athletes.Lang+Fulton have supplied the perimeter fencing along the North and West boundaries. A 2400mm high Italia-100 louvred fence was chosen to provide visual screening to one of the 3G artificial football pitches and the outdoor running track which it surrounds.Italia-100 was also used to make a single and double gate connecting to each side of a turnstile entrance to the west of of the main building, with another double-leaf gate to the east elevation.The Operations Maintenance Manager at Meadowbank has personally observed that the fence has excellent anti-climb properties and is therefore providing a high level of security.The fence, posts and gates were all hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated in Grey RAL7016.

Wimbledon, the British Tennis Championships are led and conducted by the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. The championships occur every year at Wimbledon, London, in July and are well attended by tennis enthusiasts, celebrities and other spectators worldwide.The AELT&C required the venue to regularly and temporarily install tennis ball stop netting around the smaller courts around the arena to act as a ball stop fence and stop stray balls, therefore required removable fencing.The SolutionRemovable posts were designed and manufactured by Zaun’s in-house design team. The bespoke designed temporary posts were created to slot into support sockets in the ground, ensuring that the posts could be installed and removed easily for when the Wimbledon Tennis Championships are played.These removable posts were manufactured with offset holes for eyebolt type tensioners and supplied with a 30x5mm strip to thread the net through to provide a neat and tidy termination or corner. These are designed specifically to support the line wires and the netting on the additional smaller courts outside of the main court, providing a temporary ball stop netting area to stop stray balls from venturing on other courts around the venue.The removable fencing and temporary netting are installed during Wimbledon Championships and removed for the day to day running at the venue. In addition, specialist ball stop netting designed specifically for tennis courts is installed with apertures that are small enough that tennis balls cannot pass through.

Launched just in time for the Spring season, Sadolin Shed & Fence All Weather Barrier woodstain is the latest product to join the superior woodcare range – providing the perfect blend of five years’ protection, fast drying times and ease of application for specifiers. Available in five and ten litre pack sizes, Sadolin Shed & Fence All Weather Barrier woodstain preserves and protects sheds and fences and features a wax enriched water repellent, as well as UV protection, to ensure long-lasting colour from the shades available, Grey Shadow, Woodland Walk, Sylvan Grade, Cedar Red and Ebony Wood.

Three types of fencing were supplied for a prestigious waterfront location on the the River Tay. The design was developed jointly with the City of Dundee Chief Engineer, creating bespoke fencing which made use of modular panels wherever possible to meet the project budget. Roma-3 was used as infill panels to the keyside balustrade. The panel frames were customised with an extensions to carry a hardwood and stainless steel handrail. All the fencing was hot-dip galvanized and polyester powder coated to provide a durable, low maintenance finish to withstand the rigours of the coastal location.

Lang+Fulton products were used extensively at The Emirates Stadium for Arsenal FC as barrier fencing, security screening, balustrading and wall cladding. The Arezzo-25 fence panels with a 76x25mm aperture were supplied with the flat bars running horizontally in order to take a loading requirement of BS6399 – 1:1996. This guaranteed its suitability for use as a barrier fence for the crowd control areas surrounding the Emirates. Alternative fixing methods combined with the versatility of the panels created continuity of design throughout the varied applications within the project.

To help open up Swansea’s River Tawe corridor for further development, Swansea City Council is developing Morfa Distributor Road, a major transport link benefiting both the local community and the economic welfare of the area. With the Council’s ambition to turn the area into a reinvigorated residential and commercial space, ensuring people are safe from entering traffic was high on this project’s priorities.

Lollard Street Adventure Playground is a Danish inspired vibrant urban playground which provides an exciting play space for children aged 6-16 years of age. The playground is divided into various play spaces, including; football pitches, basket ball courts, climbing frames and small garden areas. These areas needed to be effectively divided internally whilst the perimeter of the playground required further security to ensure the children are deterred from venturing off the site into dangers, such as traffic, around the busy urban estate where the playground is situated.

The overarching challenge was to establish an enhanced level of security at the premises, combined with effective, easy to manage access control, but with absolutely no compromise on the overall aesthetics of the site. This product is supplied as standard with natural timber slats, which (as per all Jacksons timber) have been kiln dried and Jakcure pressure treated to offer long lasting and highly effective protection against rot and wood boring pests. However, the client required the timber slat inserts to be provided in the house colour grey, which we sourced from Denmark to remain consistent.

Aldi are a supermarket chain with over 700 stores throughout the UK, many of which are located in or around city centres or other areas which have a high population density.
