Fingersafe door safety at home

Fingersafe® Group

We recently received this review from a customer who had enquired about finger safety guards for her home. We were more than happy to advise and help prevent this kind of awful accident happening in her house again.“I first saw the Fingersafe door guard at my son’s specialist school in the office after he stuck his finger in the bathroom door at home and broke it. In a panic being told there was a 4-5 hour wait for an ambulance I went straight to school where he was bandaged up properly but advised to go hospital. My 7 year old attends a SEMH provision and has autism and no sense of danger. The fact his school has these guards I knew who to call after we returned from hospital. I only wish I had bought them sooner.  I made 1 phone call and sent some snaps in and now my house is Fingersafe protected on every door including 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living room and the garden door. Whatever the door Fingersafe have the right guard for you. The service I had from my initial telephone was reassuring and incredible. This company took away all my worries and concerns and genuinely felt my pain. I couldn’t recommend Fingersafe highly enough. Personally, these guards should be in every home whether you have a SEN child or not. Until my son broke his finger, I never knew how unsafe my doors were. Delivery was next day. I have included some pics of the products too. Thank you to Gina and Sue. Fingersafe went above and beyond to prevent future accidents”The finger safety guards products we recommended for her home can be found across our website and included the MK1A Fingersafe® MK1A | Buy Now | Door Finger Protection | Fingersafe UK (fingersafegroup.com) and the MK1B FINGERSAFE® MK1B | Fingersafe Door Protection | (fingersafegroup.com) both as shown fitted onto her doors in the photographs. Also, as we have various colours available of all our Fingersafe products, we were able to supply the MK1C in different colours to match her external uPVC doors too FINGERSAFE® MK1C | Shop Now | Fingersafe Door Protection Products (fingersafegroup.com)

Penny Hydraulics Ltd

It can be difficult to find a lift that will operate outside without providing complete shelter from the elements. Full enclosures can have a significant impact on the building appearance and there may also be space constraints in lightwell situations. Penny Hydraulics Ltd uses design automation to quickly produce layouts based on its modular lift systems that can be adapted for external installation. The company has been manufacturing lifts in the UK for over 30 years and so has much experience to help find solutions that it knows will work well for the end user. Blueprint Studios in Manchester were experiencing problems moving audio equipment up to the first floor recording studio safely. It would have been very costly to fit internally both in terms of cost and space so a Penny Hydraulics MezzLift was installed externally within a minimal black frame and polycarbonate clad shaft to satisfy Listed Buildings consent. This saved considerable building works whilst enabling the Studios to become safer and more efficient. If the change in level is below 1.5 metres then a Loading Bay Lift could have been used that has much less impact over a more traditional style lift.

OverviewJaguar Land Rover (JLR) is the UK’s largest car manufacturer, built around two iconic British car brands: Land Rover, the world’s leading manufacturer of premium all-wheel-drive vehicles; and Jaguar, one of the world’s premier luxury sports saloon and sports car marques. With the two brands being brought together & established as one company in 2008 by the Tata Group, the brand is not only known by consumers as a creator of luxury cars but they are also considered in the trade as a reborn company of thriving creativity and one who isn’t afraid to tear up the rule book. They were the first car manufacture to cut their third party costs by producing their own steel and in 2014 the Jaguar XR was the first vehicle in the world to use aluminium alloy grade RC5754, which contained up to 75% recycled aluminium. The much lighter body gives a far superior fuel economy and in turn reduces fuel emissions. PartnershipHaving successfully tendered for 4 new sites across the UK, HAG Ltd. specified various fire protection & security products, to not only meet the current fire & safety regulations but also to aesthetically enhance their surroundings.Several major UK construction firms were chosen to complete the new sites, however HAG Ltd. were one of a limited number of contractors that were specified on all sites. This is testament to the excellent reputation that HAG Ltd. has across the UK within the construction industry, being first choice to assist with the completion of these land mark buildings. The ProjectHAG Ltd. worked alongside market leading construction firms such as Midas Construction and MCS Group at new sites in Bristol, Northampton, Brighton & Guildford, fitting fire shutters, fire curtains & steel doors.HAG’s fire protection doors, shutters & fire curtains offer an exceptionally high standard of specification, performance and protection and are fire tested & compliant to the latest standard BS EN 16034:2014 & CE Marked to BS EN 13241-1:2003. For example the new Guy Salmon facility in Bristol, which opened in January 2021, is vast at 72,000 sq-ft and boasts capacity for more than 400 vehicles. This development alone within the JLR brand, cost £12.3m, and it is therefore understandable that not only is it essential to meet all fire & security regulations, that also their significant investment & stock level needs the highest level of protection. The HAG steel door range includes external fire & security doors, which provide excellent fire protection & the highest level of security. These can be fitted to all external access points of the building and are used to ensure security is maintained. Our insurance certified steel doors have triple point sash locks with high security cylinders and are anti-protected to reduce risk of key copying. HAG can supply an alternative high security multi point panic hardware for fire escape situations. Our in house power coating finishes are available in a wide range of colours, which offered JLR complete control over their design and how our products were going to compliment their surroundings.‘As the Jaguar Land Rover range has evolved and grown since our Jaguar and Land Rover showrooms were established in Bristol, our sales and aftersales experience needed to evolve with them. What we’ve created with this new landmark building in Bristol is a luxurious space for our customers not just to use, but to enjoy. Rundum Meir façade doors uniquely reflect Manchester landmark’s heritage

Rundum Meir façade doors uniquely reflect Manchester landmark’s heritage

Rundum Meir (UK) Ltd

A bronze façade featuring integrated Rundum Meir garage doors for two new townhouses in central Manchester has been uniquely designed to reflect the architecture of the nearby John Rylands Library, one of the city’s most famous neo-Gothic buildings. The duo of four storey, high specification private dwellings designed by Snook Architects for regeneration specialist Watch This Space have given new purpose to an unused site nestling between two post-industrial buildings close to Deansgate. Their full height bronze façade delivers a striking external appearance that takes a distinctive visual cue from the library, located opposite. The aluminium façade of both townhouses features laser cut and acid-etched lacy blind tracery patterns that match those in the windows of the library, a late Victorian neo-Gothic building which opened in 1900 and is now part of the University of Manchester. The lacy pattern extends over the full height of the façade which includes large folding/sliding shutters. These balance privacy with natural light requirements for residents during the day whilst being eye-catching at night as internal light shines through the laser cut pattern. This design extends into the twin side sliding sectional garage doors manufactured and installed by Rundum Meir, which effectively deliver a sliding façade at street level. Working closely with architect Neil Dawson, Rundum Meir’s designers were able to replicate the design with total consistency and manufacture in Germany using acid etching across the six aluminium sections. Neil Dawson of Snook Architects said: “Watch This Space approached us to look at how they could transform this city centre site and we immediately saw the potential to take design inspiration from the nearby John Rylands Library. The resulting façade is unique, and through the movement of the shutters and garage doors during daily life it is constantly moving and changing. “The laser cut pattern means that the building really comes to life at night as the internal light makes the intricate façade design a stunning feature. To be able to match this styling in the garage doors was crucially important and the result reflects the bespoke craftsmanship provided by Rundum Meir.” The twin Rundum Meir sliding garage doors each provide a clear opening of 3.8 m for easy vehicle access from the street. Hand made using extruded aluminium, the fully automated bespoke garage doors have an automated pedestrian door as well as the side sliding door that demonstrate the design flexibility offered by Rundum Meir, who create every garage door to meet project requirements.

Steven Harp from Harp and Harp said: “This project involved a delicate balance of modernising a home that had been barely touched in a century for 21st Century family life whilst trying to retain the beautiful Arts and Crafts character and charm of the original house. The new doors and windows by Clement were a perfect product to fulfil this brief, providing modern standards or thermal comfort with an aesthetic and quality that blended seamlessly with the elegance of the original metal windows that were still on the house.”The client said: “I was initially unsure about changing the fenestration and doors in our property, as they are such an important part of the building’s character, history and aesthetics. However, from our first meeting with Clement Windows, who were recommended by our building surveyor, I knew I needn’t have worried. They talked us through the different options in detail, provided extensive designs (and were always prepared to amend and refine these subject to our thoughts!) and also worked seamlessly with our architects to ensure that all we asked for was delivered and more. The finished product far exceeds any expectations that we had for windows and doors that matched our original steel windows and doors, now giving us the perfect look for the house with the added bonus of double glazing and additional safety and security. Their communication throughout has been excellent and we have felt looked after every step of the way. Installation was done ahead of schedule and the only issue we’ve had post installation has been dealt with efficiently and they have always had someone available to pick up the phone to us and come to site when needed. Really cannot recommend this wonderful company enough, for both their products and the overall experience. Thank you!”

Riser Doors and Access Controlled Doors for Multi-level Data Centre

EBD Steel Doors (formerly Eurobond Doors)

We were approached to design & manufacture a range of steel fire-resistant riser doors and personnel doors for Europe's most advanced data centre, located in Canary Wharf, London. This 8-storey building offers 73,400 sqm of space - they needed simple yet secure riser doors to provide fire protection to the internal ducts, containing all the cabling and plumbing required in a sleek, discreet solution that provided maximum access, performance and safety.Alongside the riser doors, Eurobond designed & manufactured personnel doors that could be electronically controlled to control the access and provide an audit trail of personnel movement. The 2 key elements of this project were the riser doors - and the sheer volume required to cover the 8 levels and the access control requirements that had to be well planned and coordinated by Eurobond, the security contractor, end-user and architect.

Beluga Hangar Doors

Beluga Hangar Doors

Jewers Doors Ltd

Jewers Doors has for many years supplied contour doors which are specially shaped to encompass the fuselage of an aircraft in order to provide an environmental seal. These doors allow part of an aircraft (e.g. the nose or tail) to be within the controlled environment of a hangar for maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) operations. With part (often the major part) of an aircraft remaining outside the hangar, space within the hangar is available for other aircraft to be worked upon – thus increasing productivity. Such an arrangement also means that MRO operations can be undertaken on larger Code E and F aircraft in hangars that would otherwise be too small.
