Gilgen Door Systems has completed the installation of 45 automatic swing door operators at Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in East Grinstead, designed to help improve accessibility, efficiency and patient care.
Following a successful trial, the technologically advanced Gilgen FD20 Swing Door Operator was chosen to automate 35 double doors and 10 single doors in the hospital’s new theatre suite and at other key locations across the facility.

A stunning property on the Isle of Wight which was built around 1844 in the Italian style and situated within the Conservation Area of Ventnor. Lomax + Wood provided high performance, double glazed timber French doors and sash windows.
The house combines quality wooden double glazed and weather-stripped Lomax + Wood windows and doors. The property was designed to be energy efficient with Celotex fitted in the majority of the house. This is another example of how well designed timber windows and doors can add to and enhance even the most sensitive renovation within a Conservation Area.

To meet the client’s requirements of wanting sliding doorsets rather than pivoting doors on the meeting rooms, Komfort’s Sonik Slide doors were installed. This project gave us the opportunity to use Sonik Slide as our new acoustic pocket double glazed sliding door, which can be specified as a single or double door set within its own unique frameless glass. On this project, Sonik Slide double door sets were specified and installed.
Sonik Slide has been designed to focus on ease of installation and to allow light to flood through the workplace whilst ensuring high acoustic performance is maintained.
First class fire protection for the underground airport car park. 300 fire-proof doors and 52 sliding and sectional fire-resistant doors provide maximum safety on four car park levels.

A four-storey underground car park needs to meet enormous fire protection requirements. Preventive fire and smoke protection and fully functional escape routes and emergency exits were top of the list when planning the doors and barriers. T90 fire and smoke protection doorsets were used for highly frequented areas with a higher risk of fire and the gallery and escape routes between the individual fire compartments were fitted with single and double-leaf T30 doorsets with round glazing. Access points to the individual levels were equipped with T30 sliding doors and T30 sectional doors.

EQT Partners, have offices everywhere from Amsterdam to Shanghai, and recently acquired a new space in London to house their rapidly growing team. Scott Brownrigg approached Planet Partitioning requesting a glazed partitioning and door package. In areas where high acoustics were the priority, such as meeting rooms and the Boardroom, double-glazed LOFT54, partnered with double-glazed IsoPro doors, were specified.Additionally, the IsoPro doors had banding applied, to match the corresponding LOFT54 partitioning. Where acoustic performance did not need to be exceptionally high, p20 glazed partitioning screens and IsoTec slim framed glass doors were used for office fronts.

As one of Santander’s approved suppliers, Planet Partitioning was approached directly by the client to specify internal glass partitions and glass doors for the refurbishment of VIP meeting rooms at its UK headquarters. By installing p100 double-glazed partitioning and single and double Sonotec doors in all the VIP meeting rooms, Planet Partitioning achieved the look and the high sound attenuation levels required. Planet also installed electronic room booking systems and three-quarter-high switchable glass division panels for added privacy. FireTec doors on the ground floor help meet the building’s strict fire strategy requirements.

Gilgen transparent automatic door gets the Royal approval

A specialist fully glazed automatic door from Gilgen Door Systems was recently chosen to create the right impression for Royal Standard Place, a prestigious office block in central Nottingham. Work has recently completed on a £2m refurbishment of the building which included construction of a new entrance façade.
The Gilgen SLX- PSF sliding door was chosen by the building envelope contractors because its clean contemporary appearance matched perfectly with the glazed façade. The full-glass design of the door, without visible door leaf profiles, creates a visually appealing, clear view entrance with improved access for visitors and staff.

The hospital needed to ensure good accessibility and create demarcation areas for staff and visitors. We provided various systems including automatic revolving doors and sliding doors, an automatic revolving door with a diameter of 5.4 meters, and various swing door operators for the automation of both wooden single-action doors and fire-resistant doors. We installed swing door operators and sliding door operators which ensure convenient, comfortable and safe access between the departments. In addition to the benefits of comfort and energy-savings, the solution provides safe escape routes and easy access for both able-bodied and disabled people.

When the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) were looking to move into their new Head Office, just off Princess Street in the heart of Edinburgh, Michael Laird Architects asked Planet Partitioning to put together a specification for the Category B fit-out of the existing building. Working closely with Souness & Boyne, Planet Partitioning used p100 frameless double glazing system throughout to create meeting rooms and offices with high acoustic performance, in a simple grey design. The eight-week job also involved installing minimal framework double glazed doors throughout the offices, to complement the p100 double glazed partitions.
Forza fire doors and screens suited with Forza veneer panels at Royalty House, Watford

Specialist commercial refurbishment company Saracen Interiors delivers four floors of stunning Grade A office accommodation in the heart of Watford’s Met Quarter. Early discussion with Forza regarding project floor plans and elevations enabled the Forza team to prepare veneer layons that fully utilised the potential of the species distinctive decorative features and then create panel layout drawings in order that product delivered to site was clearly sequentially numbered for installation.
Incorporated in the project joinery component package for Forza were items such as skirting and lift surrounds in addition to mirror frames and IPS panels for “Boutique” style washrooms.

Alspec
Designed with sustainability and a targeted 5-star green star rating in mind, the building has drawn on Alspec products which feature high performance credentials for the floor-to-ceiling glazing and sliding doors. On the façades, Hunter Evo 150mm Double Glazed Flush Framing was used to construct the interfaces between guests and the habitat. The Hunter framing can accommodate up to 40mm double glazed and is well suited to gently curved and faceted façades, such as featured in the dining and kitchen extension.
Reynaers Knowledge Centre, Aluminium systems, visit the showroom

Visitors are greeted into Reynaers Knowledge Centre through an automatic door beneath a sleek cantilever running the length of the building. They enter into a double-height showroom and reception area and can travel up the stairs on to a viewing platform overlooking the showroom. This allows guests to experience a true representation of the scale and quality of the products on display, including multi-level curtain walling, bifolding doors and accessible windows.

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems' expertise in transportation applications made us an ideal partner for the Doncaster Transport Interchange project. In working together with the pro-jet’s engineers, automatic sliding door systems were determined to be the optimal solution for the bus depot due their reliability and safety. The clean lines of the ASSA ABLOY sliding doors also complemented other elements of the broader French gate Centre urban renewal project, which includes an integrated train station and car park for visitors to the nearby city center, in addition to the shopping mall.

Planet used p100 demountable double-glazed screens for all the classroom frontages and set black laminated timber classroom doors, and for the offices, 30-minuet fire-rated glass doors into our white aluminium slimline door frames.
P20 single-glazed demountable partitioning features in the library and sixth form, which includes a gap between each panel of glass, an aesthetic feature to complement the internal atrium glazing.
Eclipse sliding doors were used throughout.
Planet's Architectural Glass' in-house design team worked with Aedas to make sure the angled atrium glass was in line with the design intent.
University of Westminster, London

Hawkins Brown approached Planet for help with a Category-B fit-out of the Dean’s office and the design of offices and meeting rooms at the University of Westminster.
For the meeting room frontages, Planet used p54 demountable glazing system with a narrow profile that meets the required acoustic performance at 45 dB Rw.
Doors also required high acoustic performance – 40 dB Rw – so Planet provided its market-leading SonoTec acoustic glazed doors, incorporating a slim, sealed metal surround with double-glazed panels. Black steel door frameworks ensure a striking and seamless look between the partitioning and doors.
Compact Automatic Entrance for Hospice Refurbishment

Nightingale House, a charitably run palliative care facility in Wrexham, has recently completed phase one of a significant upgrade. Improving accessibility, the main entrance now benefits from a double set of automatic folding doors from TORMAX, helping maintain the ambient temperature of the reception area by creating an internal lobby.
With limited available space, the TORMAX folding door was the ideal solution with the four-leaf folding principle reducing the swivel range to just half that of a conventional two-leaf swing door. Requiring a minimum built-in width of just 1060-2260mm, the doors still offer a generous opening width.
University of Oxford, Oxfordshire

The Kennedy Building and Nuffield Department of Medicine building are part of a large research facility at Oxford University. Planet installed p100 double glazed partitioning system with a frosted glass decal pattern for visual contrast. Double glazed glass doors featured in all the meeting rooms and offices – some with venetian blinds for added privacy. Several offices run parallel to the laboratories and Planet used p20 for a slim-lined glass separation. Deflection heads were installed on all partition system wall cladding with back-painted glass screens throughout the main reception area

As part of ongoing improvements to Birmingham City University, Associated Architects, together with Willmott Dixon, asked Planet Partitioning to put together a specification for internal partitioning in the new purpose-built Curzon Building on the BCU campus. Planet designed and installed a combination of framed and frameless p20 single glazed demountable partitioning and p100 double glazed partitioning in the offices, meeting and lecture rooms, helping to meet strict sound attenuation requirements. Single and double glazed doors and several fire-rated screens feature throughout the building, alongside fire-rated and non fire-rated partitioning.
National Army Museum, London SW3

As part of a recent major re-development of London’s 40 year old National Army Museum there were a number of fire safety requirements to be
considered. Large areas of glass characterise this modern building, enhancing the high ceilings and spacious exhibition rooms requiring correspondingly large internal fire doors. Moralt’s Laminesse FireSmoke 54mm door cores offered the architect the ability to achieve the requirement of high and wide double doors fire rated to 60 minutes. Officially re-opened in March 2017 by Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip, it has been transformed into five bright thematic galleries.

As a Santander approved supplier, Planet was approached directly to specify internal glass partitions and glass doors for the refurbishment of its UK headquarters. Working with Marks Barfield Architects and main contractor Bluu, the project required a premium finish and high sound attenuation levels.
Planet 100DG partitioning with single and double Sonotec doors were installed in all the VIP meeting rooms and tech panels were fitted to accommodate electronic room booking systems.
Added privacy was ensured with three-quarter-high switchable glass division panels. FireTec doors on the ground floor help meet the building’s strict fire strategy requirements.

Main contractor Kier Construction asked Planet Partitioning to put together the specification for the internal fit-out of meeting rooms and offices over three storeys.Working with architects Harmsen Tilney Shane and Frank Shaw Associates, Planet Partitioning designed, manufactured and installed p54 double glazed partitioning, in line with the architects’ vision.
Planet Partitioning needed to adhere to sound attenuation levels of 45 dB Rw, so Sonotec doors were installed throughout the meeting rooms and offices. These are Planet's premium door range – widely considered to be the best performing acoustic glass doors on the market. Work completed in November 2015.
British Museum WCEC

For the basement laboratories, Planet used p100 demountable double-glazed full-height partitions with two layers of 15mm toughened glass to reach heights in excess of three metres. The partitioning framework was set within the steel grid structure, ensuring an industrial look and incorporating slimline single-glazed and SonoTec double glazed doors with integrated venetian blinds. Planet provided a full blackout option for lab work on sensitive ancient human remains. Planet AG was responsible for the full-height atrium glazing, using 19.5mm toughened laminated glass. It required carefully spaced holes for securing attenuators that control airflow within the building.
Willesden Green Cultural Centre, London

The new Willesden Green Cultural Centre opened in the summer of 2015. At the heart of the building, Planet installed a triangular atrium using p20 single glazed demountable partitioning with deflection head detail to provide natural light throughout the building. Offices and meeting rooms on Level 2 feature p100 double-glazed acoustic partitioning with SonoTec double-glazed doors, for high acoustic performance.
For the stairways at either end of the building, Planet installed fire-rated glazed screens. For one stairway, Planet installed EI120 and EI60 fire integrity and insulated screens, and EI60 fire integrity and insulation screens for the other.
Only genuine steel windows will do for such a magnificent property!
Clement Windows Group
No other material could have produced such an exquisite end result as steel for this project in Surrey. Clement were contacted by the owners who wished to replace all of their original steel windows and doors.
Following careful consideration of what was available Clement's EB24 suite of steel windows was chosen.
The stunning double doors benefit from the use of surface mounted cremone bolts instead of a usual lever locking mechanism which means the centre bar of steel is slim and elegant just like those of the outer frames.

Providing access into the newly refurbished reception area of a listed building on the University of Edinburgh campus, TORMAX has installed a single and double set of automatic sliding doors, creating an impressive glass entrance system that is fully compliant with the Equality Act 2010. Both doors are powered by TORMAX iMotion operators which feature none of the working parts that generally wear out, such as gears and brushes, ensuring exceptionally reliable performance long into the future. The glass is finished with an impressive etched manifestation representing the four campuses of the University.
Bespoke Double Leaf Hatch

Surespan has supplied 140 degree opening hatch doors for the Kielder Observatory, the UK’s latest astronomical facility in the north of England.
Charles Barclay Architects commissioned Surespan to design and build two sets of hatch doors for the roof and the front of the Observatory’s two rotating turrets – one to house a 20” Pulsar manual telescope and the other for a small Mead 14” telescope. Electrically operated using a remote control via 24v dc actuators, the hatch doors are specially designed to open in a specific sequence.

Opening into an impressive double-height reception, TORMAX curved bi-parting glass doors welcome employees into the prestigious new office development of 24 King William Street, London. Powered by the reliable TORMAX iMotion 2301 operator, the 3m high automatic sliding glass doors create an aesthetically attractive frontage, perfectly mirroring the curved façade of the building. A telescopic single sliding door, powered by an iMotion 2302 operator, gives access through to a tranquil urban garden.
24 King William Street has been comprehensively redeveloped throughout to a Category A specification, by main contractor VolkerFitzpatrick, meeting the demands of 21st century tenants.
Chevron, Aberdeen

Chevron is an American multinational energy company, active in more than 180 countries. Planet had carried out all the internal partitioning for Chevron’s new 110,000 sq. ft. building eight years previously and stood the test of time, so JM Architects asked that Planet draw up the specification to meet the client’s acoustic performance requirements. Using p100 double glazed partitioning for all meeting rooms and offices ensured high acoustic performance, while applying a ‘V’ shaped orange design on both the inside and outside provided contrast and depth. Installing double glazed doors also complemented p100 in looks and performance.

Planet Partitioning sourced and installed all the doors: timber-frame white doors that are easy to maintain and repair. At the academy’s heart is an atrium fire rated to 60/60 integrity and insulation, thanks to Planet Partitioning’s FireStop 25mm glass. These glass panels also feature in the library, which overlooks the atrium.
For walkways and gangways, p20 demountable glass partitioning features where acoustic performance isn’t critical – but it ensures a modern and contemporary space in line with Foster and Partners’ vision.

Komfort Partitioning Ltd
Komfort worked in partnership with GHI to design and support with supply and install for all Polar frame works, door frames and glass doors.
Komfort’s Polar collection was used throughout the project. Double glazed Polar’s simplistic method of installation, relocatability and powerful acoustic properties made it an intelligent option for this fit-out. Whilst, Polar single glazed minimalist form facilitated speed of erection without compromising structural stability and rigidity. Deflection heads +/- 25mm were used for both systems.
Additionally, the Sonik collection provided enhanced acoustic performance whilst also creating an open-plan modern feel.
