UltraScape’s BS 7533 Compliant Mortar Paving System has been used in the construction of Birmingham University’s new state of the art library. O’Brien Contractors installed hard and soft landscaping around the prestigious new library, which included 1200m² of yellow rock granite. paving. UltraScape’s Pro-Bed HS provided a perfect bound base. It can be laid up to 75mm in one pass. A special order of Flowpoint buff was produced for this project to compliment the paving elements. UltraScape’s Paving Guard surface sealant was applied once the grout had set to help preserve the installation.

Offsite Solutions has been awarded the contract to supply bathroom pods for the new £72 million, state-of-the-art East Lothian Community Hospital. Morrison Construction is principal contractor for the 23,000sqm, purpose-built community hospital in Haddington. When completed, the new facility will increase inpatient beds by around 60 per cent to enhance the quality of care for the people of East Lothian. Offsite Solutions will provide 135 factory-built bathroom pods for the project. These units will be supplied without floors to allow for continuous level flooring throughout the wards and avoiding the need for thresholds making the bathrooms fully accessible.

Installed by John Abbott Flooring of Oldham, Polyflor flooring was used throughout Manor Hospital’s new 30 bed dementia friendly facility. Polysafe Wood fx PUR safety flooring in Classic Oak was used throughout the ward’s bedrooms, reception area and corridors. Polysafe Hydro and Polysafe Vogue Ultra PUR vinyl safety flooring in the Oystershell shades were chosen for the en-suite bathrooms.

Vinyl flooring from Polyflor was installed at a 24 bed respiratory ward at Hull Royal Infirmary. Over 1000 m² of Forest fx PUR vinyl flooring was installed in the hospital’s Ward 500 by contractors S & D Flooring. The Vermont Maple design was used throughout the ward, including in corridors and waiting areas, to give the area a fresh, sophisticated look. Hedley Wilson, Building Estates Officer at Hull Royal Infirmary comments, “The Forest fx range ticks all the boxes for us as it is a proven performer in demanding healthcare environments, it looks great and is also easy to clean.”

This Grade II listed building in Thames Ditton dates from 1792. The former manor house, priory and chapel was repurposed as a care home in 1905 by the Nuns of Compassion, yet in recent years the historic buildings have posed challenges to delivering modern standards of care. Oliver & Robb Architects have rationalised the design in a renovation project to created 78 luxury bed spaces. We were appointed to design, supply and install a total of 263 timber tilt and slide sash windows, tilt and turn windows, single doors and French doors to sympathetically upgrade the property.

Products from Johnstone’s Trade’s portfolio have created a lasting impression on patients at a state-of-the-art, 24-bed dementia unit in Sunderland. Helping a Gateshead-based decorating contractor win a prestigious Johnstone’s Painter of the Year Award. Thousands of litres of Johnstone’s Covaplus Vinyl Matt, Premium Contract Matt and Acrylic Eggshell were used throughout the unit by the decorators during a tight four-month timescale. The paint was used on corridors, offices, washrooms, stairwells, lounges, dining areas and doors throughout the unit, all of which now boast bold, fresh looks.

An exclusive turnkey project delivered by Lema, supplying the fittings for the 175 rooms and the Suite named after Josephine Baker of the iconic Hôtel Lutetia of Paris, which reopened in 2018 after a refurbishment that lasted over four years, having a value of over two hundred million euro. Lema has developed for every room a bespoke solution that could unite the aesthetic needs of designer; Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Lema completed the rooms supplying flooring, ceilings, wood panelling for the walls and the bow windows; wooden, glass and gold decorated doors, boiserie, bed headboards and mobile bar furnishing.

The vibrant, ivory-coloured façade of a new healthcare facility in Cornwall posed no problem for the Renderplas range of coloured PVCu external render beads. Renderplas provided a decorative and durable solution to match the through-coloured render of the £1.9m building. In addition to enhancing the building’s fresh-looking façade, ivory-coloured Renderplas beading has ensured straight, durable joints, corners and edges on all external rendering. The PVCu material is scratch resistant and will not discolour over time, so any exposed joints and edges will continue to complement the colour of the façade indefinitely.

Gripsure non-slip decking made from accoya® wood was specified for the Rising Path at Cambridge University’s Botanic Garden. The 65m long spiral structure leads visitors to a viewing platform overlooking the Garden’s Systematic Beds. To ensure safe access all year round the walkway and stairs needed to be slip-resistant. Over 1,300 linear metres of Gripsure non-slip accoya decking was supplied. Custom typographic non-slip decking boards were supplied for landing points along the walkway. The boards needed to provide a visual contrast to the main decking as well as display information for visitors.

In 2017 BMDS supplied Multivault GRP rooflights to a new build, 180,000 sq ft ambient warehouse constructed as part of a growth and expansion redevelopment at the Henderson Group headquarters in Mallusk outside Belfast. The new 12.5million warehouse which incorporates cutting edge design, was designed to streamline logistics and is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Ireland. BMDS supplied Multivault GRP Barrel rooflights to cover just over 2,200m2 or approx. 13% of the roof area – 22 runs extending over 16 metres with a further 2 runs of 8 metres streaming natural light into the group warehouse.

Neaco have supplied a contemporary balustrade specification for a 60-bed residential care home in Barrow. The £7m Parkview Gardens care home has replaced four older Cumbria Care homes as part of a wider modernisation programme of care for older people in the Barrow area. Architects Alston Murphy Associates specified Neaco’s powder coated aluminium balustrade with glass infill panel. The building was designed to provide outdoor space on every floor, including first floor terraces featuring Neaco’s glazed balustrade installed to an extended height to provide additional safety. The terraces also include Neaco’s Techdek aluminium grilles as terrace decking.

When Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust commissioned Medicinq to design and build an 86 bed acute mental health inpatient unit on the site of the old Harperbury facility in Radlett, Britplas were the obvious fenestration partner for the project. The facility, which includes one vulnerable adult ward, one learning disability ward and three acute wards, required fenestration solutions to assist with the therapeutic environment, provide anti-ligature features, enhanced security to all areas without aesthetic distractions, and allow for optimum ‘safe’ natural ventilation. Our product solutions included a combination of uPVC and aluminium Safevent windows as well as glazed doors.
