Replacing the original traditional bitumen membranes, the flat roofs had to be re-roofed with high performance bitumen membranes to safeguard the integrity of the building fabric for many years to come. The roofs also needed to be insulated, whilst complying with the strict planning restrictions and maintaining the look and feel of the original external appearance. External gutters positions could not be altered and the position/make-up of the original windows in any abutments could not be changed.

NUDURA ICF with a 152mm (6”) core was chosen for its acoustic attenuation rating of 51db as the Starbeck site borders onto a very busy level crossing. This exciting venture began with demolition in June 2016.

The cycle centre includes our Forza solid grade laminate lockers complete with digital code access locks. We also installed our highly engineered Marcato toilet and shower cubicles, fitted with stainless steel locks and coat hooks, and finished the new space with bespoke Corian trough vanities.

A mixed use development for Leeds Metropolitan University and property group Downing, some of the building’s diversity comes from the expression of the fenestration which encorporates integrated low-energy design. The apparently random patterns were composed to ensure that the vertically modulated cuts provided an orientation-specific balance of daylight penetration and solar gain reduction. The result is a building with irregular sides which maximises natural light without creating overheating.

The front side of the mailbox features the corten steel panel integrated with an intercom system for communicating with the residents of the property.

The redevelopment of Atkinson Morley, a former hospital in Wimbledon in the London Borough of Merton. The site is located within the Copse Hill Conservation Area and includes the locally listed hospital building set among mature trees. The hospital was opened in 1869 as a convalescent hospital and it retained this use until WWII, when it became an internationally recognized neuroscience center. After it was closed in 2003, the building remained vacant until the site was acquired by Berkeley Homes in 2010.

Specialist lifting equipment was needed for the installation due to the 4.4tonne weight of the Moonstones. The new Ice Arena has improved a part of Slough by revitalising the space it inhabits to encourage the wider community to come together and be social.

Main groundwork contractor W T Burdens approached Furnitubes with the need for a large number of security bollards that were due to be installed around the perimeters of the new Dubai Design District, d3, development. Zenith sloped top bollards were the product of choice, all supplied in stainless steel with a satin polish. Following the installation of nearly 250 bollards, it was clear that the simplicity of the design perfectly complemented the area, with positive feedback coming from members of the local community.

When Mcfarlane Latter Architects were brought in to re fit London's famous Abbey Road Studios, the idea was for a vibrant, modern reception area, that was still light, airy and honouring the original aesthetic of the iconic interior. The Istoria Bespoke Parquet could not have fit better with this look, combining subtle textures of the prime grade with the classic angles of Herringbone that came with the original interiors. The fact that the FlexStep has been chosen for the unique Eidsvoll House (Eidsvollbygningen) in Norway is further proof that FlexStep can be adadpted to any environment, both when it comes to function and design. The black painted FlexStep with painted steel handrails and rubber mats on the steps looks as if it has been a part of the old building since the Norwegian National Assembly in 1814 wrote the constitution of Norway here. It was also in this building that Prince Christian Frederik was elected King of Norway.

The Greenpeace Field at Glastonbury festival has long been popular among festival-goers thanks to their free hot showers and delicious veggie food available at their cafe. This year, however, will see a new feature to the field with the addition of a show-stopping 20m giant tree structure. Built from SMARTPLY OSB, the huge tree will come alive at night with a colour changing light show and will feature a DJ booth allowing attendees to party into the early hours.

Procter secured the site with our Pro-sure SR1 rated Security Fencing and matching pedestrian access gate this was completed with a mechanical code lock. In order to provide an element of our acoustic capability we supplied and installed a boarded timber enclosure with double leaf gates to the generator. We then installed a Trackless Bi-Folding Automatic Speed Gate for quick access and egress along with a Nice M7 automatic traffic barrier for emergency services exit route.

The building was extensively redeveloped, stripped back to its original 1960’s shell and core, and re-cladded with floor to ceiling glazing. By incorporating underfloor air conditioning, instead of more traditional ceiling based systems, a floor to ceiling height of 2500 mm within an overall slab to soffit zone of 2800 mm was achieved. The completed refurbishment created 40,000 sq ft of high specification office space which was fully let to a single occupier prior to practical completion.

Fabulous Edwardian building with a Grade II listed Portland Stone façade. A full refurbishment including structural reconfiguration to the central core and installation of new HVAC services, creating 3000 sq m of prime office space in the St James’ area of London. Both the client and Architect requested a clean finish with no services at high level to allow the decorative feature plasterwork in the ceiling to be exposed, underfloor air conditioning was subsequently specified by consultant Watkins Payne Partnership for four of the seven floors.

With architectural design being one of the Design Museum’s core exhibition focuses, the building couldn’t have been anything less than remarkable. The Grade II listed property now exudes sophistication with an extraordinary atrium at the centre of the building. Working with both John Pawson architects and the contractor Willmott Dixon, Dolphin advised on the most fitting washroom design for the renovated building. The Dolphin Alavo was a perfect match for the Museum’s innovative space, given its ability to effortlessly blend style and usability.

The Sways project, consists on the rehabilitation and two storey upward extension of a building dating from the 90’s, transforming that place into an magnificent office building. The scheme provides for architectural enhancement of the real estate complex, involving modification of vertical circulations (cores), reconfiguration of the interior patios and modification of the existing facade. Effisus Ecofacade Pre-Fab Frames were developed specifically for this project, allowing time savings and reduced largely the possibility of installation errors, maximizing the efficiency of sealing work.

Langley was selected to assist in the roof refurbishment of this residential project in collaboration with Southampton City Council. A thorough bespoke roof condition survey and report were prepared with recommendations provided for an improved waterproofing solution of the main roof of this housing block. Additional assessments included core sample analysis which indicated the presence of moisture in the existing RBM overlay of the original asphalt roof. Approved Contractor, Breyer Group competently installed the new roof without the need for the structural deck to be fully exposed.

A highly popular west-coast restaurant chain with over 30 locations in and around Vancouver, Canada required a design solution that provided them with a natural look that aligned with strict building codes. They had to find a replacement for their wood cladding that still looked great and reflected their preference for a west coast aesthetic but also aligned with strict non-combustibility requirements on all their buildings. We worked with the architects to determine a design solution and now our product can be seen on several of the Cactus Club locations.

It seems that The Entertainer – the biggest independent toy retailer in the UK – cannot get enough of Stannah’s Goodsmaster range of goods lifts. Muscling up all over the UK, Goodsmaster goods lifts have gone into multiple branches of The Entertainer, from Didcot, Lancaster and Newport (Isle of Wight) to Rugby, Cardiff, Chester, Sunderland and Bexleyheath – with another to come in 2013 in Witney, Oxfordshire. The bespoke, hydraulic-drive Goodsmaster 500kg goods lift recently installed in the Bexleyheath outlet demonstrates Stannah’s design flexibility.

As part of a £1.7m investment, Loughborough University recently remodelled Quorn Hall into an impressive 560-seat lecture theatre. Adding functionality to the new facility, Style was contracted to install a 57dB Dorma Hüppe Variflex ComfortDrive moveable wall system with fully automatic operation, allowing the vast space to be divided into two separate areas. A complex project, Style was specified by Core Architects to design a system that not only accommodated the exceptionally high ceiling but that also incorporated the stepped-rise of the seating.

Surespan recently travelled to Lithuania to manufacture and supply a floor hatch to enable Finnish energy company Fortum to access their biomass pit at their new energy plant. The 5000 x 5000 mm hydraulically operated, double leaf hatch was designed to be easily operated by an electrically driven pump power pack. Fortum wanted the simplest operation for a grab crane to gain easy access to the biomass plant so Surespan worked with engineering consultants AF Consult to come up with an effective solution.

The UK’s leading access hatch manufacturer Surespan has launched a new range of heavy duty access covers which are designed to take loading up to 16 tonnes. The aluminium alloy hatches can take loadings ranging from 5 to 19 tonnes (FACTA class B to E) and are available in standard single and double leaf sizes. They are gas spring operated, making them easy to open, and come with a range of locking options, including Surespan’s unique locking box.
