Sheffield based Case Study using the AliDeck Balcony Kit, featuring the Vertical Infill Balustrades

Over 266m2 of framed panels of Terra-34, which is a grating which conforms to anti-climb guidelines, were made to cover the south, east and west elevations. These were fabricated in 16 different sizes up to 2.5m high and 1m wide and fixed to the structural framework with custom welded plates. Access through the east elevation was provided by a very large double-leaf gate to allow for the removal of large sculptures and installations. The gate was made out of six separate panels within each leaf for an overall size of 4.6x5.3m (hxw).

Kings Cairn is a bespoke residential property situated in a unique and prestigious development in East Lothian. Taylor Maxwell worked closely with the client, architects and main contractors Prime Property Ventures to specify and supply facing bricks, Pro Clad brick cladding, Anvil metal cladding and wet cast stone (manufactured by Vobster Architectural) to the property.

Installed by specialist contractor MIB Facades, part of The MIB Group, the façade features 11mm thick, 900mm x 450mm RIVEN cladding panels in a dark basalte finish. Arranged in a regular pattern across the entire ground floor, the cladding is used to create a strong base to the building’s exterior which combines to create a truly striking contemporary facade.Each Carea panel is formed using 90% natural minerals and 10% binding resin to provide the perfect aesthetic solution for both the client and the designer. Installation is quick and simple with the Carea facade system, as each panel is supplied with specialised horizontal rails that fit onto vertical cladding supports. With precisely routed grooves on the top and bottom, the simple fix provides a totally seamless finish to maintain the stunning appearance of the project.As well as providing a stunning exterior, the Carea cladding system offers superb thermal and acoustic insulation, alongside excellent performance qualities. Carea Ardal cladding panels are resistant to climate and are unaffected by graffiti due to their non-porous composition.While aesthetics were of importance, the specification of Carea cladding brought an array of other benefits to the development. The cladding provides a long lasting and cost effective solution, offering a high degree of insulation that will play a pivotal role in improving the leisure complex’s thermal efficiency and lowering its heating needs to aid sustainability.

Accoya wood has been used to create cladding, windows, doors, decking and guttering in family home in Sweden. Over 20 m3 of Accoya was ordered for the project and was used to create cladding, windows, external doors, decking and even the guttering. The joinery firm and construction company were very impressed with the performance of Accoya on this project. The build time was faster than expected with other wood species, it was easy to use and work with and it allowed to use wider planks of Accoya for the cladding.

BEMO supplied a combination of N65/400, N65/500, perforated standing seam and sinusoidal cladding panels for this unique facade. Finished in bronze anodised aluminium, the cladding provides a long life expectancy in partnership with excellent corrosion resistance

EQUITONE [natura] in colour Chalk Grey [N162] was used to clad this Nursery School in Munich, Germany. As well as reflecting the natural light, the cladding acts as a blank canvas for the beautifully milled contour design that features so prominently on the face of the building.

Jerry had always liked New England style houses so this is what he and his wife envisioned for the renovation, a sharp looking house with clean lines. They felt this would be achievable through an extension of the house and a cladded facade. It was their contractor who pointed Jerry in the direction of Hardie® Plank cladding, which he felt would be the ideal solution for the project. Even though the contractor had not worked with the product before, he had seen it on other properties and was keen to start working with the cladding.

Van Leeuwen kozijnen had an easy decision to make when choosing the ideal material for their new office building, due to such positive past experience with Accoya. As well as the Accoya frames & doors that were produced in their own joinery workshop, 30 mm thick panels were also made to fill the space between the frames throughout this project. Accoya boards were selected for all the cladding. The cladding was then fixed with an invisible clip system. Thanks to Accoya’s superior dimensional stability, the cladding in the building will stay straight & aligned.

Our Thermopine® cladding, painted black, is the ideal companion to a traditional stone and slate cottage in the Scottish Highlands. The new elements of the home focused on clean, sharp lines, and painting the cladding black allowed for a strong contrast to the neighbouring traditional cottage.

The Buckland Hospital, Dover is a community hospital that provides a range of local services. Main contractor Interserve PLC enlisted Industrial Construction (Sussex) Ltd to install the roofing and cladding package. Fixfast products were the first choice for ICS and the Facade Support range was an obvious need for this type of contract; coupled with the DrillFast® Stainless and Lacquered products, the external roofing and cladding was installed in the finest possible manner.The external walls use a range of materials - black brick and through-coloured render serve as a background for two types of cladding panels: white fibre cement panels and timber laminated panels manufactured from kraft paper and finished with natural timber veneers. The dark colour of the brick is used as a medium to enhance the crisp lines of the bright cladding as well as the shape and colours of the wooded bank at the rear of the building.

Cladding is being replaced on a flat block in Nottingham’s Hockley after it was found to contain similar insulation material as Grenfell Tower. Klasse G-board has been chosen as part of the re-clad project, especially for its A1 fire-rated, fully non-combustible properties.

As the owner of a 1980s brick-built detached house in Chessington, Toby Spencer had never liked the austere timber cladding that covered most of its top half. So when time and weather finally began to take their toll on the black painted wood after 10 years, he decided to consider a tougher, longer-lasting option. Having researched plastic cladding as a replacement, Toby was introduced to Hardie® Plank cladding by James Hardie preferred contractor Square Deal. This new contemporary and premium, multi retail unit built in the centre of Auckland, New Zealand is finished in EQUITONE [tectiva] Chalk, one of the lightest colours in the family. The cladding installation benefits from intricate milled detailing, which unites the building with the other black clad structures that form the rear of the unit.

We were delighted to collaborate with Prater on the Bracknell regeneration project. The Marks and Spencer building was one of 6 blocks that we were involved in cladding. This building showcases BTS Fabrications’ Vantage SF Rainscreen in three shades blue, and white high gloss Alucobond. The combination of cladding and timber creates a stunning effect.

Liquasil's Cladcoat™ was applied the cladding of this industrial unit in Shirley, West Midlands.The cladding was jet washed prior to application to remove the failing factory finish, creating a smooth surface and ensuring proper adhesion. Any areas of spot rust were treated using SWT Primer to prevent rust breakthrough before two coats of Cladcoat™ were applied directly to the substrate.The project gave the unit a new lease of life, completely revitalising the old and worn-looking cladding to leave it looking good as new.On top of the aesthetic overhaul, the finish is UV stable and resistant to cracking and flaking, due to its excellent flexibility and adherence.

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships. In addition to operating a number of specialist bus services they are also responsible for the Glasgow Subway.AJ Wells produced 600 square metres of curved white vitreous enamel panels for Kelvinhall Station. Covering the length of the station’s platform the cladding system incorporated a coloured vitreous enamelled platform finder and was finished with a powder coated aluminium extruded cover trim. Our antimicrobial wall cladding was specified for the multi-million-pound project to develop four commercial kitchens at SW19 to serve the thousands of guests, players, and VIPs who attend The Championships each year. Working alongside a number of contractors, we were heavily involved in the refurbishment of the kitchen and food preparation areas, where over 1000m2 of cladding was installed in Spring of this year.

This group of seafront apartments on the site of the former Bournemouth International Hotel is perched right on the cliff side. The modern aesthetic of white render and glazed balconies is offset with crisp elZinc zinc cladding supplied by SIG Zinc & Copper and installed by the specialist cladding team at ICEE. The project for Taylor Wimpey Southern Counties was designed post-planning and managed on site by architects WADP.

This £48M project provided a new copper and Portland Stone cladding canopy fronting Piccadilly provides shelter for the lift entrance and a new staircase that runs from Piccadilly.The planning approval process involved collaboration with artist John Maine RA whose work is featured in relief on the Portland Stone cladding and granite paving to the Piccadilly area of the project. The work focuses on the geology of the Portland Stone cladding and setting of the station in the natural environment of Green Park.Art on the Underground commissioned artist John Maine RA to create a new artwork which forms part of the station structure for passengers to enjoy.Albion Stone provided stones from the full range of Portland Stone beds available creating a stunning contrast between the stones

Factory fixed brick slip cladding to sheltered housing project

Following the devastating effects of the Grenfell Tower tragedy, Hatfield Close & Gerrard House fell into the category of social housing buildings that needed to be reclad to meet safety standards and Terracotta cladding offered a solution that satisfied the required standards and ticked all the boxes. BackgroundOn the 14 June 2017, a disaster that shook the nation taking away the lives of 72 people, injuring many others and devastating families and a whole community became the core of public unrest and resulted in a mass scale enquiry that identified around 2,000 buildings over 18m tall clad in dangerous combustible materials in England alone. The cladding crisis exposed that not only did the buildings pose an immediate fire risk to residents but also saw flat owners facing building insurance premiums, extensive and costly remedial work and mortgage lenders deeming the properties unsafe and ceasing to lend money against them. The Grenfell tower tragedy resulted in the review of the building regulations nationally and internationally in countries including Australia, Malta and The United Arab Emirates and in a government pledge of over £5bn towards the remediation of fire safety problems in high rise buildings. The three Hatfield Close & Gerrard House blocks were identified as being clad with ACM, the cladding material used at Grenfell. The projectAlthough originally constructed as a concrete frame with brick infill sections, the Hatfield Close & Gerrard House buildings experienced weather penetration issues during the 1980s and the 1990s that led to a programme of improvements which included the introduction of an ACM rainscreen system in the 2000s which during the post Grenfell tall buildings cladding mass review was found unsafe. Only weeks later emergency works to strip the hazardous cladding began.  Although the primary objective of the project was to improve the fire safety performance of the three blocks, the project team took the opportunity to redevelop the buildings to also improve their aesthetic and structural and thermal properties. The nature of the project called for a holistic approach led by a multidisciplinary team which included Michael Dyson Associates Ltd, a housing consultancy firm that specialises in the social housing sector, social housing main contractor United Living, a Lewisham Homes & Fire risk manager, independent consultants and resident representatives. The team, with guidance from the planners selected terracotta cladding as the material of choice due to its non-combustible A1 fire rating and robustness. In addition to its essential non-combustible fire classification, terracotta offered a large range of tile colours, shapes, profiles and textures that gave the team design freedom and opened the possibility to improve the aesthetic appearance of the blocks at the same time as offering durability due to being a natural product with no synthetic dyes and a life expectancy of 60 years +. The terracotta cladding system offered the façade contractor Novo Facades a simple method that allowed them to deliver a clean and non intrusive installation process which was key as the residents were living in the buildings all along. The project became a construction referent of inclusion and savoir faire. It was a winner in the Inside Housing 2020 Resident Safety Campaign Awards, it was shortlisted for ‘Best Community Engagement’ and Won ‘Project of the Year £10 million to £25 million’ awards at the 2021 National Building & Construction Awards. SolutionTerracotta facade panels are one of the cladding resources of choice in the market because it is a natural and versatile material that gives architects freedom of expression whilst it gives cladding and envelope contractors the advantages of a quick and easy installation process. More than 3,000 sq m of aluminium rainscreen cladding clad the exterior of the five-storey building. But the brightest feature is a series of perforated panels that accommodate LED lighting.“It’s a project that stands out not just for its scale, but also for the level of collaboration that has been necessary between Maple, lighting designers, architect and all contractors to make it a success,” said Maple’s Operations Manager, Peter Mattimore.

Application and problem solving using zinc cladding on the Adelaide Convension Centre

Angel Wharf, is a mixed use development in the historic Regent’s Canal area of Islington, London. Compromising of a mix of private and shared ownership apartments and modern office space, Angel Wharf is situated around a landscaped courtyard in Islington’s regeneration area.Our VitraDual panels were the chosen cladding product to be installed by the main contractor OCL Facades Ltd.We provided the BBA Approved, CWCT tested and A1 Rated VitraDual panels in Red Elm, which beautifully mimics planking, as well as our Riddle Grey VitraDual panels to provide a tidy finish.Our VitraFix Cladding Subframe System was also used to securely hold the cladding to the building.It was fantastic to be part of this project and see our panels and subframe system contribute to the final look and aesthetics of the building.
