The end result is a stunning contemporary luxury home that incorporates large glazing areas throughout. There has been a careful use of traditional stone, wood and also unique metal cladding detail with the external design. Internally the feeling throughout is minimalistic clean lines, with the furniture being a perfect complement to the end result. With the exception of the switchable privacy glass for the window adjacent to the front door, the inclusion of completely concealed fully automated blinds to all other windows are the ’Grand Finale’ to this beautiful home.  When not required the blinds are completely concealed but at the press of a button or using their mobile devices, blinds appear as required – providing shading, sun protection, privacy or blackout blinds as required.A feature of interest is the large gable window in the master bedroom.  Here Honeycell Duette® blinds have also been concealed within the sloping ceiling and again appear from their hiding places when required showing that irregular shaped areas can benefit from the Blindspace headboxes which can be made to conceal almost any blind available on the market.

Blindspace

From the earliest concept stages, this London architect wanted to be sure that his garden room extension could really be the family's main living room. They were not looking for the traditional French Pinoleum Blinds that usually go with Vale Garden Houses, but instead, a modern horizontal blind, to be fully concealed when not required.Complete in every detail, coving to hide the lighting, shadow gap to complement the Blindspace cover finished in matching paint material. The attention to detail, at the planning stages, has paid off well with this installation. When taking the photos, the homeowner expressed her complete satisfaction with the way the blind had brought the whole room together. They were concerned that the inclusion of the large lantern would spoil the homely feel and use they wanted in this living area. The blind has meant that they can be comfortable in the room, at all times. They feel the blind is a huge success.

The Conduit - A Unique Rooftop Dining Experience

The Conduit - A Unique Rooftop Dining Experience

Caribbean Blinds UK Ltd

The Conduit is an existing client of Caribbean Blinds having used our louvered pergolas at their previous club in Mayfair in 2018. Knowing both the benefits of installing louvered pergolas, providing flexible shade and shelter allowing the terrace to be used all year round, therefore providing an important revenue stream for the business along with a unique dining experience for their discerning members along with the service we offer, the Conduit wanted to replicate this at their new club in Covent Garden, albeit on a much larger scale. The new roof terrace, which was on the 7th floor, had a footprint of approx. 300sq/m. The client wanted to cover 2/3rds of this with pergolas, leaving the remaining 1/3rd completely open. The model was to be our Prestige Pod, which they had previously installed, where the louvered roof not only rotates but fully retracts and when closed is completely watertight. A total cluster of 8 modules were required to cover a surface area of c. 200sq/m. The perimeter edges were equipped with screens to offer protection from the elements to the sides. Additionally screens were inserted along with doorways between certain modules so areas could be zoned off for events and private functions. Each module had infra-red heating and festoon lighting installed to create a cosy and pleasant environment year round.A project of this size, requires clear communication, co-ordination and planning. We worked closely with the architect, designer, contractor and end client at every stage, to ensure a seamless process and journey. Site meetings were held with all parties. Full CAD drawings of the structures, positioning and importantly drainage, wiring and post mounting plate positions, which were highly critical as a steel sub frame had to be fabricated and installed and services run were provided. A dedicated project co-ordinator oversaw the entire project to ensure it run smoothly and on-time and in-budget.Like all roof terrace installations there were many challenges, from working at height to access with a road closure required for this project to allow craning of the goods to the terrace. Manufacture from order sign off for the bespoke pergolas was just 12 weeks, with installation taking 2 weeks, via our own trained teams and all in time for a VIP client 4th July party.Anthony Pollak, Facilities Director for The Conduit commented:“Having had a Caribbean blind pergola installation at our previous property we knew the quality of their products. When the opportunity came from our landlord to give us a substantial area to build a roof terrace we knew that we had to include Caribbean Blinds within the design.Installing the Caribbean Blinds pergolas has enabled us to use our roof terrace all year around. In the summer when the weather is good we can open up the space effortlessly and in the winter when the roof is closed, sides are down and heaters on it gives us much needed outside space. From the initial design meetings all the way through to install the Caribbean Blinds team were pleasant and professional to deal with. They made the whole experience very pleasant and straight forward.”To find out more about how we can help you create unforgettable alfresco experiences 365 days a year please contact one of our knowledgeable and friendly team on 0344 800 1947, send us an email projects@cbsolarshading.co.uk or visit our website www.cbsolarshading.co.uk.

Bandalux Industrial SA

Plaza 13 stands on a space previously occupied by an old industrial warehouse. A residential development designed by the Bueso-Inchausti & Rein architecture studio, this 3,566m² complex comprises 14 apartments spread over four floors, four of which are penthouses with private garden and swimming pool. In order to keep a flexible interior layout, Bueso-Inchausti & Rein decided to maintain a geometric uniformity in the complex, with a facade that is almost entirely glazed, fitted with the O-Box system as a solar control solution to optimize sunlight and heat. This was an ambitious and daring project aiming to create a distinguished product with clear floor heights of 3.5m. In this context, the Bandalux outdoor O-Box roller blind systems offer a simple and elegant esthetic solution for the facade, as well as exquisite solar control to create maximum comfort inside the spacious apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows. The O-Box technical blind has an attractive cylindrical box and an aluminum side guide that binds the fabric. To fulfill the project requirements, Bandalux developed a cylindrical handrail, which limits the run of the blind and creates the impression of a floating rail. The O-Box system works like a double skin for the apartment windows, ensuring an excellent compromise between thermal efficiency and visual comfort thanks to the Polyscreen 550 Pearl fabric with a 5% openness factor. A fabric with a high resistance to extreme weather conditions and chlorine which, from outside, contributes to significant energy savings in terms of heating and air conditioning inside. The Polyscreen 550 Pearl fabric is also easy to clean, as it can be simply wiped with a damp cloth, and no harmful elements are used during the manufacturing process.Bueso-Inchausti & Rein works in the field of architecture and urban planning, specializing in residential and tertiary projects. Bespoke Aluminium Skylights and Column Casings for Blind Veterans UK

Aluminium Roofline Products Ltd

This redesigned facade showcases bespoke aluminium skylights, column casings, radius coping, and soffits. These elements flawlessly enhance the contemporary design of the Blind Veterans UK Centre in Rustington, West Sussex. The new centre is an example of the effectiveness of using aluminium as a building material. Its strength, durability, and low maintenance needs make it ideal for projects such as this one, where quality and longevity are essential.Spearheaded by Fowler Building Contractors and carried out by the specialist aluminium guttering and roofline team at County Gutters, the Rustington project prominently features bespoke aluminium column casings, soffits, radius coping, and skylights from Aluminium Roofline Products (ARP).This case study explores how expert installation, durable aluminium fabrications, and innovative design have revitalised this centre. The transformation has resulted in an accessible facility that promotes confidence, independence, and the well-being of its residents.County Gutters surveyed the former home of the RAF Benevolent Fund before sending measurements and drawings to our CAD team.Joe Wheatley of County Gutters worked closely with CAD Design Engineer Reece Mooney to ensure the designs were feasible and achievable. Their combined expertise successfully brought the architects' vision to life.Using high-quality marine-grade powder coating in colours such as Chartwell green, traffic white, and mid-grey, the finished product is visually striking and highly durable. The aluminium fabrications are strong and non-corrosive and require minimal maintenance, making them an ideal choice for a busy facility like the Blind Veterans UK Centre. The ARP team designed, manufactured and finished production in just a few weeks, with installation starting four weeks after receiving the order from County Gutters. This quick turnaround allowed the project to be completed on time and within budget, ensuring minimal disruption for Blind Veterans UK.In addition to the practical benefits, using aluminium in this project also aligns with the centre's commitment to sustainability. Aluminium is highly recyclable, making it a sustainable choice for construction projects. The Blind Veterans UK Centre continues to provide much-needed support and services to veterans with visual impairments. The innovative design and use of durable aluminium fabrications have revitalised the facility and contributed to its mission of promoting independence and a high quality of life for its residents. The final result is a stunning new centre that provides crucial services to blind veterans in need. The open floor plan, made possible by removing walls and pillars, promotes accessibility for all residents. The modern design also features impressive aluminium fabrications that enhance the overall aesthetic of the building. The circular column casings had to be custom-made to fit the curved design of the concrete pillars, showcasing aluminium's versatility and bespoke capabilities as a building material. The Trueline Z plank soffit and radius coping add unique architectural details while providing long-lasting protection against weather elements.ARP takes great pride in being involved in this project, designing and manufacturing custom-made aluminium fabrications that proudly adorn the façade of this magnificent beachfront building. The Rustington Centre was recently featured on BBC's The One Show. Presenter Amar Latif had the opportunity to visit the centre and meet two remarkable veterans, 100-year-old Ken and 100-year-old Nancy. They discussed the move from their former home to the new purpose-built centre and how it has positively impacted their lives. The Blind Veterans UK Rustington Centre is a truly invaluable resource for blind veterans, and we are honoured to have contributed to its new home in West Sussex. If you're considering aluminium for your next building project, ARP can provide bespoke fabrications to enhance any design. Stunning custom - made rooflight & blind transform Sussex renovation

Stunning custom - made rooflight & blind transform Sussex renovation

VELUX Company Ltd

Our real life cases are meant to inspire you, so we always look for unique projects to follow and document. This case is unique in it’s own right thanks to the early adoption of bespoke blinds to fit the Vario by VELUX rooflights.Let us take you on a journey to a beautifully renovated 1930’s home in East-Sussex, where homeowner Graham Gray lives alongside his wife, children and dog. As much as they loved their house as it was, they finally made the decision to redevelop mostly the back of the house. This renovation included not only a bespoke rectangular rooflight, but also custom made blinds which perfectly fit the roof window.Brightening up a 1930’s home with natural lightingA house built in the ‘30’s isn’t usually the brightest of homes. These houses often come with few or small windows which don’t allow natural lighting to fully penetrate a room, causing dark spots and corners all around the house. This is why Graham and his family wanted natural daylight to be a focal point in the renovation of their mid-century home, saying “Light was really important to make an area spacious and airy.”. They sure lit up the place by choosing one of the biggest singular bespoke rooflights in the size 3000 mm by 1000 mm.The perks of a big custom Vario by Velux skylightBecause the Gray family opted for such a big rectangular skylight, it let in a bunch of light. We asked Graham what he loved the most about the rooflight; “During the day you are looking at the sunlight being brought in, and then during the night you are looking at the wondrous sky and the stars. And if I’m honest during the summer I can’t see us using any light other than the light coming from the VELUX rooflight.”. Another bright side to our rooflights is that they don’t require days or even weeks of work. The three by one meter skylight was practically placed in less than a morning!Creating an ambience with blinds for VELUX roof windowsWhile having a rooflight comes with a lot of perks, there is something to consider; sunlight can’t be dimmed down. Sometimes you want a room to feel warm and cosy, which you often do by turning off some lights or closing the curtains. Graham and his family understood the importance of creating an ambience, and thus opted for skylight blinds for VELUX roof windows. Graham’s daughter added; “The rooflight can do so much more than just be a feature. It has a lot of practicality like giving ambience for movies and makes the space feel more homey and lived in.”Why Graham and his builder chose Vario by Velux as their window supplierGraham’s builder had recommended VELUX because “it’s a well-known, high quality brand with excellent customer support”. But what played an exceptionally big part in the decision was the availability of Vario, mostly thanks to our unique feature to design your own custom made skylight! The Gray’s made a bold move to go very large and incorporated a big rooflight with a feature that allows them to open it remotely, allowing for natural ventilation. This meant that Graham and his family could choose the size that they wanted and needed, including custom fit blinds and a rain detector which automatically closes the window in case of bad weather.Welcome the beauty of daylight into your designsIf you are an architect involved in home renovation or construction projects, our customised rooflights offer an ideal solution to bring abundant natural light into your designs. By incorporating rooflights, you can transform any space into a vibrant and illuminated environment. Our team of experienced daylight specialists is available to assist you in selecting the perfect skylight that aligns with your specific requirements and preferences.
