Affinity255 creates dream floor for Natural Bed Company showroom

Luxury vinyl tiles from Polyflor’s innovative Affinity255 PUR flooring collection were used to create a stunning herringbone design floor at Natural Bed Company’s showroom in Sheffield. 290 m² of Affinity255 PUR vinyl flooring in the Seasoned Grey Oak design was installed in the shop floor area by Sheffield based contractors MG Flooring on this showroom project managed by Structural Interiors and designed by Studio Gedye architects. Caro Whiteside from Natural Bed Company commented, “We’re delighted with the finished look of our new showroom. Our Affinity255 herringbone floor looks so stylish and was quick to install."

BUPA Oak Lodge - 71 Bed Nursing Home

Providing specialist dementia care facilities as well as a day centre for the elderly. The £5.7million development was delivered by BUPA and Southampton City Council. FUSION® Commercial stair balustrade was installed on the main staircase to provide a safe and stylish barrier. The system’s combination of minimalist oak handrails and sleek tubular balusters in a contemporary brushed nickel finish complemented the building’s modern décor and other good quality furnishings, whilst its availability off the-shelf meant there were no lengthy lead times. Richard Burbidge also supplied wall mounted handrails for installation throughout the building.

Gypsol Flowing Screed Helps recover proram for 50 bed care home


The main contractor, with many years’ experience of building bespoke care homes throughout the UK has successfully used flowing screeds in their projects for over a decade. This project was to be no exception and the main contractor needed advice on before finalizing the specification. The screed was to be placed on insulation at both ground and first floor underfloor heating systems. It needed to be as thin as possible. It needed to be installed quickly because, time scales were tight. Finally it needed to offer a rapid drying time to allow completion of floor coverings.

Bradford Council, in conjunction with landscape architect Gillespies and consulting engineer Arup, have specified UltraScape’s Pro-Bed HS Bedding Mortar, Pro-Prime Slurry Primer, EP-R9 Epoxy Bedding Mortar and Flowpoint ECO flowable grout – in Natural and Charcoal – for use by the main contractor Birse Civils, to lay the setts, porphyry and sandstone in and around the Mirror Pool.

Ultrascapes’s Pro-bed HS, Pro-Prime and Flowpoint have been performing to the highest standard at Manchester’s £650 million development, MediaCityUK. Landscape paving contractor, English Landscapes, specified Ultrascape products for 40,000m² of paving at the high profile development. Over 2000 tonnes of Pro-Bed HS bedding mortar was supplied in bulk silos which provided a perfect base for the stone to be laid on. Pro-Prime slurry primer and the innovative Ultrascape Flowpoint flowable rapid setting grout were also used throughout the development. Flowpoint enables large areas to be grouted with this pourable material.

The 280,193sq ft Barratt Homes development has an enviable position on the north bank of the River Thames, near the iconic Tower Bridge, and boasts 165 one-bed suites, one, two and three bed apartments and penthouses across 10 storeys. It replaces Sugar Quay, a 1970s office building built for Tate and Lyle, which was purchased by CPC Group back in 2012.

Swindon Station is back on track with Ultrascape's Mortar Paving System

Ultrascape's BS 7533 compliant mortar paving system has been used to deliver a modern and stylish forecourt outside Swindon railway station. The redevelopment has transformed what was previously a heavy traffic dominated area, into a prestigious pedestrian focused arrival space which features seating, planting, lighting and a millennium clock. Work was carried out by specialist civil engineering contractor, Britannia Construction and included the installation of 500 tonnes of high quality natural granite and Pennant Sandstone using Ultrascape's Pro-Bed HS fine bedding concrete, Flowpoint rapid setting grout and Pro-Prime slurry primer.

Nestled in the trendy Shoreditch area of London, Golden Bee is contemporary and eclectic bar which showcases a number of unusual and exciting wall and floor tiles. With theatrical design elements taking centre stage, Solus Ceramics supplied tiles to create a bold design statement. Shaped rich black tiles from the Diamond range were fixed to a grand feature wall to create an angular contrast to the bright, gilded bar area. The diamond shaped tiles create a stunning optical masterpiece with the delicate 3D texture adding a sense of depth. Hexagon floor tiles complete the project evoking the idea of honeycomb.

St George Hospital, Kogarah, Sydney, NSW

The centrepiece of this redevelopment is a new eight-level Acute Services Building, which will include an intensive care department, eight operating theatres, 128 additional inpatient beds and a rooftop helipad.

Blakeney Ward is a 8 bed Forensic Low Secure ward. This facility underwent a refurbishment and extension in 2017. Designed by Hoopers Architects and built by Seamans Building. The bedroom doorsets in this project were the anti-barricade Swing range, with our Duralux Vision Panels and side screens. A bespoke solution was designed and built for the seclusion rooms, as were the lockers.

The facility is to be based on the site of the existing YPU at Dudhope Terrace, Dundee and will include a 12-bed inpatient unit with an education facility and family accommodation for patients from across the North of Scotland.

In recent years, Southwark Council encountered problems creating and maintaining attractively paved surfaces in busy carriageways. Tobermore introduced Southwark with a solution – the City Pave VS5 block paving system. The innovative product incorporates shift protection on five sides of each block via interlocking nibs and a specially profiled bottom surface that claws sand beds. These innovations provide continuous protection against shifting.

Built in two phases, Farrow Court will eventually comprise 84 care-ready apartments, an eight bed recuperative care centre, 12 independent living apartments for people with learning disabilities, a shop, hairdressers and therapy room, along with an Age UK Community Resource Centre.

Profile 22 Optima Chamfered Windows help transform 1960s building into stylish modern housing

Profile 22 Systems

Over 1,000 Profile 22 Optima Chamfered Windows have been used in a conversion project in Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire. Sim Chem House in Cheadle Hulme was a six storey office block built in the 1960s. The building had been empty for many years and fallen into disrepair. It was purchased by developers Inspired Homes to be redeveloped into 184 studio, one and two bed ultra-high quality apartments aimed at young homeowners.

Changing Place - MK Gallery in Milton Keynes


MK Gallery in Milton Keynes is an art gallery and a venue for world-class exhibitions and events together with pioneering learning and community programmes. In 2016, they began a redevelopment of the gallery, and this involved installing a Changing Place. The Changing Place would enable them to welcome visitors with physical or learning disabilities at their art exhibitions and activities. The new Changing Place includes a Ropox StandardLine washbasin and Shower/Changing bed and Guldmann GH3 Ceiling Hoist.

Timekeepers Square, Salford

Located within a conservation area in Salford, Timekeepers Square is a development of 36 two, three and four bed townhouses adjacent to the Grade II* listed St Phillips church; and the Georgian square which it fronts. The scheme forms part of the English Cities Fund’s Salford Central regeneration scheme which is regenerating more than 50 acres of Salford’s historic centre. The product used for this project is Wienerberger's Forum Smoked Branco brick.

Calvert Trust, Kielder

Innova Care Concepts

The Calvert Trust was set up to provide a fully-accessible luxury holiday home for people with disabilities and their families to stay in. As such, they wanted to make sure that any accessible equipment included in their lodges and chalets was as discreet as possible. We worked with them on their Kielder campus, and created bespoke Integralift hidden hoist systems to go around the double bed from either side. You wouldn't even know they were there! Designed by architects LEAP, Preston Springs is a Passivhaus, meaning it is ahead of its time in terms of air quality, comfort and reduced energy use. ASF Bespoke Corten Planter / Seat

ASF Manufactured this large planter and seat from corten steel. The structure of the planter is 100% corten, manufactured as modular sections that were transported to site in sections and simply put together in situ. The seat area is a lowered platform alongside a running edge of the planter with hardwood seat slats attached to the top with invisible fixings. The seat area brings the lowered side up to full planter height so people can sit alongside the raised garden bed the planter creates.

Artform suggested a mixture of sleek reconstituted granite and simple natural granite benches. Anastasio-Makatite benches were chosen to face out to sea and to partially form planting beds with a variety of local flowers. This helped to improve the appearance of the promenade as well as providing a wonderful vantage point for people to sit and take in the sea views. Local points of reference and historical facts were also included on floor plaques directly in front of the benches so that they could be viewed and enjoyed whilst sitting on the seats.
