Bath University

AAS Projects & Design Ltd

AAS supplied a unique design of Oak veneered absorbent rafts in the open areas of the new East South building at Bath University. The slotted rafts were hung on wire fixings and created a suspended ceiling effect whilst reducing the reverberation time. Working with the main contractor Bouygues and the architect’s Fielden Clegg Bradley to design this innovative solution to reducing the reverberation time in the large open areas and corridors incorporating all the lighting into the rafts.

Poplar Public Baths

Crittall steel windows provided the original fenestration in the art deco Poplar public baths when they were built in 1934 in London’s East End. And weather-tight, energy efficient Crittall products were the ideal replacement when the Grade II listed building was refurbished and transformed into a state-of-the-art leisure centre that was re-opened this September.

Bath Spa University

Artform Urban Furniture Limited

Artform Urban were asked to supply a mixture of standard and bespoke furniture for a new campus development at Bath Spa University. The stylish Big Harris benches by Metalco, provided a large amount of seating for a good value. As one of our most popular seating ranges in tropical hardwood, it can be coordinated with other street furniture for a standard look throughout the landscaping. Through discussions with Illman Young Landscape Design, Artform produced an adapted design to accommodate DDA compliance by incorporating a backrest and armrests to 30% of the seating.

Bath University, Somerset


Over recent years Bath University has gained the reputation of being a highly ambitious and successful university when it comes to sport. This has required the University to invest heavily into expanding its sporting facilities to continue their success. Alongside the students the England netball team use the sport facilities by making the university one of their Intensive Netball Training Centres. Such rigorous and frequent training needs a floor that can offer reliability. The England Netball team found just that with the Helsinki system and European Oak surface.


Hussey Seatway Ltd

PROJECT OVERVIEW Build a seating system for the university which was a flexible and durable bleacher seating system that would meet the venues changing audience requirements. SOLUTION Over a two phase period Hussey Seatway have successfully installed 1800 Courtside bench seats on Maxam retractable platforms. The bleacher seating units were fitted with integral movement system that enables the customer to move and deploy the seating units at any location in the hall to meet the requirements of a range of different events.

Umbrella Street, SouthGate Bath

Gripple Ltd

Gripple Catenary solutions were used to suspend a thousand umbrellas in the air above shoppers on the aptly named Umbrella Street in SouthGate Bath. Umbrella Street transformed SouthGate Bath into a beautiful, eye-catching shopping location unlike any other. Gripple's Catenary system provided an ideal solution by being virtually invisible from ground level, allowing shoppers to enjoy the display; created a span across the street which allowed secondary fixing points from which to suspend the umbrellas, and a simplified install which vastly reduced the time installers were required to work at height.

Ironmonger Row Baths, Islington

TyloHelo Ltd

Helo UK Ltd completed the refurbishment of the health suite at the English Heritage listed Ironmonger Row Baths in Islington, London. A series of large, spacious thermal rooms within a traditional layout in the basement, the installation features two steam rooms. One, a Hammam style with a centrally heated slab and middle eastern fragrances, the other, a smaller room with fruit fragrances and colour change lighting. We also installed two saunas: A Herb sauna with automatic water and essence infusion, and a Vitality sauna with fresh, seasonal essences.

The University of Bath has gained the reputation of being a highly ambitious and successful university when it comes to sport. Alongside students the England Netball team use the sport facilities by making it one of their Intensive Netball Training Centres. They chose a DYNAMIK area elastic sprung floor system finished in Canadian Maple. Named as UK Top University of the Year 2018, the University of Bath has excelled by supporting athletes to Olympic level.

The Holburne Museum, Bath

Selectaglaze Ltd

To protect exhibits housed within this magnificent Georgian building, Selectaglaze designed and installed single hinged casements incorporating Anti-UV glazing and multi-point locking accredited to “Secured by Design”. Other design considerations included a paint finish matching the surrounding décor and maintenance of clean lines via flush hinges and a flush lock. The secondary glazing blends imperceptibly with the monumental sash windows with no additional sight lines to mar the spectacular views. The double window system also proves high levels of sound insulation and the inclusion of a low emissivity coating to the glass markedly reduces heat loss.

Tepid baths, Auckland, New Zealand


In April 2010 the Tepid Baths closed for repairs and a major makeover. As part of this renovation project Accoya® wood was chosen for its durability and stability especially for its use in wet and humid environments such as swimming pools. New Zealand distributor, Timspec supplied the Accoya wood which was used for the changing room doors, seats and frames. At nearly 100 years old, the building will remain a great place to swim for the next 50 years.

Boxed Glazed Roof Access - Circle Bath

Surespan was selected by internationally renowned architects Foster + Partners to design and manufacture two roof hatches for Circle Hospital Bath – the new centre of clinical excellence due to open late 2009. The huge single leaf glazed roof hatches are electrically operated by push button switches, one hatch incorporating a side door. The high spec glazed lid is supported by heavy duty aluminium hinges and features an integral ‘wrap over’ edge, incorporating double unbroken EPDM seals. The hatches offer a high level of thermal insulation against heat loss and condensation, together with excellent sound absorption properties.

Arena 1865 had to take several design criteria into consideration including provision of fire protection to safeguard the 4,500 spectators the steel framed structure can accommodate, while rigidity, all round durability and ease of installation were important. Simon Pugh-Jones outlined ‘We looked at a full range of board solutions including high performance gypsum and recycled plastic, but when we got into the science and the costings, it soon became clear the only board which ticked all the boxes was Magply’. Some 2000 m2 of the Magply 9mm boards were consumed in the main passageway beneath the Stand.

Inverness Terrace


The Matki Bespoke and Installations team worked with CP Hart Fulham on this large residential project at Inverness Terrace in Bayswater. EauZone Plus Bespoke Sliding and Hinged Shower Enclosures and Bath Screens were specified. Working beautifully with the marble bath, Matki bespoke designed a dwarf wall installation for many of the spaces leaving a minimal shelf inside the Shower Enclosure, maximising the space around the bath allowing space for a bath mounted Hand Shower. Tailormade Shower Trays, made from the luxurious Matki Preference material were fitted. CP Hart Design Consultant, Bakuli Sangamneheri specified and the renovation was delivered by Vascroft.

Waterproofing vaults (using Type C Systems)

Vaults are a common feature of 18th and 19th century buildings in Bath. Originally built to support the cobbled streets above and were a constructional response to the precipitous topography that surrounds Bath, in order to provide a level site. Many of the vaults within historic Bath suffer with water ingress and damp related problems. Incorporating best practice guidance - Type C Waterproofing Systems (BS 8102: 2009) a Type C System was used to keep this historic vault watertight and dry.

The aim was to create an area both visually spectacular and to serve all the client’s wishes – a Turkish steam bath with high power shower, a heated bench for stretching exercises and the ultimate luxury, an Infra Red radiating ceramic lounger from Sommerhuber!

Chapel Place, Leeds


Chapel Place is an exclusive development featuring six apartments and two penthouses. The project located less than two miles away from Leeds city centre has been built on a self-contained site with gardens and off street parking. Built to the highest modern specification the apartments have a mix of one and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The Tissino bathroom package was designed to complement the crisp modern feel of the building with wall hung furniture, wall hung sanitaryware, concealed shower valves, baths, bath panels, barassware, shower doors and trays.

Cafe Royal, London

The hotel’s newly marble-fitted bathrooms required a thin, water resistant floating screed to be applied to the insulation boards providing a base for the marble flooring. The screed needed to withstand the weight of the marble baths and other fixtures.

Tissino were delighted to work with Henderson Homes on this project to supply contemporary Italian designed bathroom fittings. The Tissino package included all aspects of the bathrooms – furniture, sanitaryware, brassware, baths, showers and towel rails. The statement piece of the project are the master bedroom en-suites which feature white marble tiles, white wall hung furniture, white double ended baths and matt black brassware creating a superb modern and luxury en-suite bathroom. The matt black brassware is from the Parina Series, a range of minimalist, round design taps and shower fittings bringing refined, elegant style to these stunning homes.

Residing alongside the River Thames in Reading is the site of the King’s Meadow swimming pool. It originally opened in 1902 as the Ladies Swimming Baths and is the oldest outdoor public pool from the early Edwardian era in existence. However, over time it fell into a state of disrepair and, following its closure in 1974, has been left unused for over 40 years.

The subtle stone appearance created by the system will offer unparalleled longevity and protection. The colours are UV stable and therefore will not fade and the coating is moisture vapour permeable so doesn’t trap moisture in the substrate.

The Corinthia London Hotel


The Corinthia Hotel London is a historic luxury hotel, formerly the Metropole Hotel and used as a government buidling during the war. Regarded as one of the most luxurious and important hotels in London Kaldewei worked closley with IHI and GA Design to establish and deliver a specification consisting of our Ellipso Duo Oval 1900x1000 baths for the executive suites and Centro Duo 1800x800 for the standard suite rooms. The scheme was delivered 2010/11.

The Savoy Hotel required a watertight waterproofing solution for their luxurious bathroom suites. CCL Wetroom's installation team recommended the installation of RIW Tilesafe - a premium waterproofing membrane - onto the solid floors of the 110 luxury guest bathroom suites. The membrane was installed to all corner to corner junctions on the wall and across the entire bathroom floor. RIW FWM was then applied to full height on the walls in the shower and bath ares, linking to the RIW Tilesafe.

The Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate

The development at The Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate was the biggest spa project in the UK 2016/2017 and the biggest project installed by Helo UK. Helo installed thermal rooms, pools and plant over three levels. Lap pool, hydro pool, roof top spa, Rasul, Pool side sauna, Panoramic sauna, Luxury steam room, three feature showers, foot spas and heated benches, ice fountain and herbal bath.

Tower Building, Liverpool


This wonderful Grade II listed building situated in the Historic Downtown district of Liverpool. The Tower was built in 1908 as an office block but was converted in 2006 into 73 apartments, with the three lower floors being retained for commercial and retail use. In 2016 a new freeholder of the building redeveloped two of the remaining commercial floors into 32 apartments specifying Tissino bathroom fixtures including Angelo Furniture and Wall Hung WC, Rocco Concealed Cistern Frames, Pacato / Mario Brassware & Lorenzo baths.

Located in South Yorkshire on the edge of the Peak district the spa enjoys beautiful rural surroundings. The spa is located in a converted farm building with views down the valley to the south and fields to the north. The spa health suite comprises an Aroma steam room, Panoramic sauna, Himalayan sauna, Herbal bath, Rasul, Feature shower and footbaths. A superb choice of thermal experiences within a relatively small space yet through clever use of glass always feeling spacious and relaxing.

Helo was commissioned to create a poolside sauna in keeping with this traditional style pool hall in a country estate in the south west. Space was limited and effort was made to reduce, as far as possible, the impact of the cabin on the surrounding décor. The client wished to enjoy a view of the existing pool area whilst bathing in the sauna. This was achieved with an angled glass door and full height glazed panel. Helo’s sophisticated Fusion heater, with steam generator, was used to allow a multi climate sauna to suit varying tastes.
