Barrisol® is improving the look of Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital in London, England. The cafeteria is transformed into a magical and friendly place. Designed by the architect Llewelyn Davies Yeang, who took inspiration from the Disney universe, the ceiling is a Barrisol® translucent Blanc Venus along with the Barrisol® Lumiere Color® technology. Using the fabrics this way, coloured bands (translucent sheets) soften the atmosphere and bring the benefits of the chromotherapy.

Telford’s Leegomerry Community Centre provides a range of services to the local community and surrounding areas including educational courses, assistance for job seekers and other social activities, as well as providing care and education for children from 2 to 5 years.To help provide children with washroom facilities tailored to their specific needs, cubicles and vanity units from the Pendock Education range have been installed, which include durable high-pressure laminate doors and panels finished in bright primary colours

We’ve given a Victorian office building a modern makeover by replacing the existing washrooms with a modern new design. Our flush fronted Alto toilet cubicles, which are designed to provide a virtually seamless façade, were finished with an attractive dark wood effect Engineered Veneer to ensure a consistency of colour for each cubicle door. Laminated duct panels were installed behind the toilets and urinals in a soft grey colour and we also designed bespoke white Corian vanity units.

No kitchen is ever complete without the sink and tap, and on a high-end project such as The Atelier in London, it was important that the sinks, just as every area of the design, were of the highest specification. Hopkins Architects, who worked on the project on behalf of house builder Regal-London, chose the Abode R15 stainless steel sink to achieve the brief. With the manufacturer’s Althia designer brassware being the perfect match, this sink and tap pairing were supplied for use across all of the 43 boutique apartments in West Kensington.

This project consisted of many Helmsman products, with lockers, cubicles, vanity units and IPS panels being supplied. Alongside the team at Mixbrow Construction and Ipswich Town FC, we designed, manufactured and installed 8 bespoke 1 compartment laminate lockers, 1775mm high x 400mm wide x 500mm deep on a cantilevered seat stand. The theme of the changing rooms was kept slick and professional, with See Group’s Biocarbon Laminate used in colour Gabbro. This fantastic carbon neutral laminate is strong, moisture resistant, easy to clean and has antibacterial protection, perfect for a changing room project. The locks chosen for the lockers were Lowe and Fletcher 2800 combination locks, also a great choice for the coaches’ changing rooms.Whilst we offer a wide range of cubicle options, we worked with the team at Mixbrow Construction to design a bespoke floor to ceiling cubicle to fit their needs. The changing room design featured 2 Bespoke Floor to Ceiling shower cubicles and 1 Bespoke Floor to Ceiling Toilet Cubicle. Also included in the project were 4 sets of IPS (Integrated Plumbing System) Panels and a Solid Grade Laminate Vanity unit, all in matching Solid Grade BioCarbon Laminate in colour Gabbro.

Stainless steel worktops with integrated back and side upstands (edge 10) were specified in this smart residential apartment in the City of London.The hob run and sink run oppose one another in a galley arrangement. The front edges are plain (edge 7) and the sinks include a ‘wet zone’ provided by the fully integrated sink and a half with drainer.

The Project Derby Manufacturing University Technical College (UTC) has received planning permission by Derby City Council. BAM Construct UK will build the £8 million centre which has been designed by Maber Architects.The UTC will have capacity for up to 600 young people aged 14 to 19. A new purpose-made stainless steel worktop by GEC Anderson was included within the clinical area of this busy London medical centre. Responsibility for medical centres to carry out minor clinical procedures is increasing. To deal with the need for a safe and professional clinical area, refurbishment works included the provision of a new sink and worktop.Carefully specified by Edwards Rogers Associates, the 1800x625mm worktop includes 450mm high, integral, upstands at back and sides for total hygiene and cleanliness. Two sinks were seamlessly integrated within the continuous worktop. One circular and one rectangular in shape, denoting their differing purposes. The circular bowl is for hand washing and the rectangular bowl for the washing of instruments and equipment. The front edge profile is curved, complying with the precise detailing prescribed by HTM 63 (Healthcare Technical Memorandum).The unit was produced in EN 1.4301 grade brushed satin stainless steel. Stainless steel is well know for its robustness and the brushed finish provides not only a highly resilient and practical surface but also an attractive aesthetic.

In the heart of the building, Populous's architects designed the Blueroom bar and the O2 lounge. A 3D dome was entirely dressed with Barrisol Lumière Color® ceilings. The Barrisol Lumière Color® ceiling offers complete freedom to create unique lighting effects adaptable on all event styles. Lightings are placed above the Barrisol® membrane and create many colored effects. The O2 lounge staff can imagine and create unique luminous atmospheres to surprise its visitors! The Entrance of the Lounge is also made of Barrisol, designing a futuristic tunnel. The O2 complex provides a unique experience to its visitors!

GEC Anderson's Decimetric range of stainless steel worktops, sinks, base cabinets and wall cabinets were the preferred choice of architects Curl La Tourelle in the 1.8m sports hall project at St Michael's RC High at Garston, Hertfordshire.The specialist sinks, base units and wall cabinets were used in fitting out the new First Aid Room and P.E Staff Office. The Aberavon Aqua Splash have developed a brand new outdoor Splash Pad with 30 water features. This update meant that the council were also looking for new washrooms to upgrade their leisure facilities for their customers.Our Quadro toilet cubicle was selected for the refurbishment. The £27.5 million Arena heralds the most exciting and important changes to leisure facilities in Derby in the last 40 years. The new arena is primarily a Velodrome with space for sports and physical activity; however it also serves as a venue to host cultural events, exhibitions, product launches and conferences. Prospec Marathon Connect cubicles, Marathon laminate lockers, vanity units and benching are installed throughout all of the changing areas. A spectacular curved bank of low level lockers dominates the outfield circulation area, creating both a focal point and a huge volume of storage.

The new £75 million Murray Royal Hospital, Perth was officially opened by Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond last year. The hospital provides state-of-the-art mental healthcare for adults from across Tayside. Franke supplied all manner of janitorial and healthcare washroom products to the project. Specification was exacting to ensure long and efficient product life and savings in water and energy use. Products from Franke Washroom Systems have included; an array of differing formats of HTM63 stainless steels sinks and worktops, disposal and janitorial units.

When Booking.com decided to move their offices to a prime location in Central London, they required a full fit-out. They appointed HLW International, who specified Billi Taps for their main kitchen area, and another tea-point within the office space. Booking.com opted for Billi Quadra Plus 15. With a drainage font in chrome and a gloss finish, the tap delivers instant boiling and chilled water from an XL lever tap at just a touch of a finger, and hot and ambient from a second sink mixer tap – all this from a single under counter boiler unit.

GEC ANDERSON OFFERS PRISTINE PERFORMANCE FOR UCS SPORTS PAVILIONThe fit out of a major new academic sports facility in North London has included the selection of custom built sinks, work-surfaces, shelving and other stainless steel units, manufactured and installed by sector specialist, GEC Anderson.The University College School Sports Pavilion in Hampstead has been designed by Marcus Beale Architects (MBA) with LIFE Build Solutions of High Wycombe filling the role of main contractor. The area was farmland until the 20th century. The use as playing fields dates from the 1920s.The 18th month project encompassed upgrades to the schools playing fields themselves and the erection of a two-storey structure with extensive changing room facilities, showers and toilets on the first floor. The comprehensive catering facilities include kitchens large enough to serve a dining area which can seat 200. Amongst the stainless steel fabrications designed and fashioned by GEC Andersons highly experienced workforce are a number of base units which combine with single section work-surfaces, sinks and splashbacks to create an easily cleaned, hygienic and ergonomic working environment.As well as the actual kitchen, GEC Anderson also supplied adjustable wall shelving and an L-shaped, three level base unit for a food storage and preparation area. In several places GEC Andersons site survey and subsequent liaison with the project team, which also included The Litmus Partnership Ltd. Catering Consultants, led to units being tailored to fit around structural columns and to accommodate different sized pieces of catering equipment.The stainless steel back bar, with associated fabrications and appliances were also supplied and installed by GEC Anderson.A spokesperson for MBA commented: In 2015 MBA won an invited competition to design a new sports pavilion on the site. Thorough analysis of the topography and the wider views led to a radical design for a pavilion in two parts, linked by a bridge angled westwards to align precisely with the Wembley Arch.

Franke were thrilled to provide products to one of the UK’s leading theme parks and attractions for a recent refurbishment, which consisted of a large male toilet room, a large female toilet room and a less abled disabled washroom. Water conservation was also an important aspect. Franke supplied a number of self closing Pureline taps, which only release water for a controlled amount of time, bringing down water usage in the washroom. Stainless steel table top soap dispensers (SD80) were also supplied, removing the possibility of spillages onto the vanity units and making the area easier to clean.

Torrance Park Golf Club is set in the beautiful moorland of North Lanarkshire. A bespoke design was required for the lockers due to the unique size requirements of a golf course and our Marathon Wet Glass Lockers achieve this. Manufactured with 10mm Toughened Glass doors and a robust aluminium carcass, the lockers cater perfectly for the members golf equipment without compromising quality or finish. Our award winning Cabrillant cubicles continued the use of glass into the changing facilities in the form of showers. “The Venesta cubicles offer easy maintenance and cleaning. The product has really improved since the original product twenty years ago and there are some lovely colour schemes to choose from.” - Christina Roper, Boarding Administrator. Having previously installed Venesta cubicles in the late 90s, the school decided it was time for a total refurbishment of the washroom areas, and Vanesta was the natural choice for this new project. Needing something that was easy to clean and maintain, built to last and simple to install, Award cubicles in High Pressure Laminate (HPL) were chosen with matching Solid Grade Laminate vanity units.

Washroom’s highly engineered, full height Marcato cubicles provide the perfect solution for a cutting edge research facility at Imperial College in London. With a flush fronted and rebated finish, the division panels and doors of the Marcato cubicle, which were manufactured from 20mm Formica HPL, meet edge to edge for maximum privacy. Two complementing shades of Formica were specified - a sky blue for the cubicle doors, pilasters and Concerto duct panelling and a soft grey as a contrast for the interior division panels. Washroom also designed, manufactured and installed Corian vanity units in a crisp white.

The creation of an ultra-modern Teaching Building as a new core to a long established school in Oxfordshire, has included the installation of custom designed and manufactured stainless steel sinks, worktops and splashbacks and other units from GEC Anderson for several of the different technical spaces.The Tudor Hall School, originally founded in 1850 by the Rev TW and Mrs Todd at a site in Salisbury, has been at its present location at Wykham Park in Banbury since World War II, while the past decade has seen some £15 million invested in ensuring the Independent Girls Boarding and Day School offers the best possible facilities.The Birmingham office of ADP Architects has been responsible for the design work on this latest project, while Clegg Construction Ltd of Nottingham was the main contractor carrying out the work. Acting as a specialist sub-contractor, GEC Anderson conducted site visits and liaised with the project team in order to ensure its custom fabrications met the schools’ health & safety as well as technical and teaching requirements. The manufacturer also worked closely with Tudor Hall’s Bursar, Neil Farquhar to ensure its site installation visits in no way interfered with the academic activities as lessons continued throughout normal term time. One of the architects involved with the project from early on commented: “The GEC Anderson sinks, work-surfaces and other fabrications were specified for the Food Technology Area as well as units for the Ceramics and Textiles rooms. The new centre opened on schedule last Easter in time for the start of the 2018 summer term and everyone involved has been pleased with the results.”A spokesperson for Tudor Hall added: “The new Teaching Centre is the largest and most ambitious addition to Tudor Hall facilities to date and sits at the heart of the school site. Margam Park’s new washrooms needed to be durable, easy to maintain and impress their visitors.Margam Country Park in Wales is owned and administered by Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council. The estate containing a Tudor Gothic Mansion was once owned by the Mansel Talbot family in the 1800s. The 850 acre country park is rich in history, with evidence of over 4,000 years of continuous habitation and use by man. This means it has exceptional historic value, with some of the country’s finest architectural treasures. Paired with its natural beauty, wildlife and many activities and facilities, the Margam Country Park has evolved into a popular attraction which is visited by 350,000 people per year, including locals and tourists alike.Neath Port Talbot Council came to Bushboard Washrooms for the refurbishment of the public washrooms. The main concern for this project was ensuring that the toilets were able to withstand the high traffic the park receives each year. As Alison Lloyd, the Commercial Officer at Margam Country Park, explained “visitors often judge a site on the quality of the loos”, this meant opting for a robust washroom range which offered a modern, high quality finish that will remain presentable at all times.Initially designed for secondary schools with the key focus on privacy, our HiZone for Schools toilet cubicle at standard height was decided as the perfect specification for the country park’s needs. Alison put emphasis on requiring an “indestructible build”, the cubicles pilasters and partitions are fixed to the floor in aluminium channels which creates a strong foundation. The toilet cubicles were manufactured in Solid Grade Laminate which has a compact core making it a highly durable material. It is also impervious to water which makes it easy to clean as the panels do not need to be dried meticulously afterwards to prevent damage.The design of the public washroom was carefully considered. The council wanted to cater for everyone who would visit their park, with additions such as child height basins, family changing areas and enlarged toilet cubicles with grab rails for ambulant/disabled users. In particular, the park recognised parents with their children would regularly visit the park. They designed a superloo style room to utilise space, this was larger than a typical toilet cubicle which gave users more room to manoeuvre within the washroom space.Ease of cleaning was fundamental to the project because of the high traffic the toilet cubicles will endure. Our own brand SanCeram’s Langley WCs and urinals were chosen which both offer a smooth and rimless design to eliminate dirt traps, it also suited the “clean lines” Alison was looking for. Margam Park had sanitaryware and brassware ready plumbed which meant that that it arrived pre-fitted to panels assembled onto a rigid steel frame, this saved both time and money. Being a refurbishment project it meant the washrooms did not have to stay closed to the public for a long period of time.Vanity units were also supplied as Ready Plumbed Modules and designed to hit the parks public washroom brief. Solid Surface Counter Top vanity units are ideal for busy washroom environments as they are easy to maintain. Alison wanted to make sure that the washroom had ‘clean lines to clean’, so integrated inset wash hand basins were supplied which have a flush design leaving no dirt traps for a hygienic hand wash station whilst also creating a seamless, high-end overall look.Alison told us that the colours were “chosen to fit with the Country Park, a wood feel and green panels to make it bold and stand out”. Lime Green and Bleached Oak laminates paired with Apple Solid Surface colours from our standard range complemented the mansion scenes within the washroom perfectly. Overall the review of the new washrooms at Margam Park were “ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! We opened in time for the Early May Bank Holiday and feedback from public was great and staff love the clean lines and bright colours.”

Abode delivered a combined sink and tap offering to high-end house builder Berkeley Group, for its Edenbrook Village development in Hampshire. The challenge for Abode was to supply a complimentary sink and tap offering to work alongside the specified German contemporary kitchens from Leicht. Exceeding at the challenge, Abode took one of its stand-out designer taps, New Media in four finishes and coupled them with the extremely versatile R15 Matrix stainless steel one-and-a-half bowl sink, providing solutions that excelled in form and function.

The fully shrouded stainless steel wash basin V216 not only is very secure against tampering and vandalism. It has a distinctive and clean appearance with totally concealed pipework. Produced in brushed satin stainless steel to EN 1.4301, the highly functional basin is suited for use in any environment, from highly secure premises to general washrooms and workshops.

The Project HMP & YOI Doncaster houses up to 1,145 Category B inmates. Serco, who have been operating the prison since 2004, noticed that a large number of in cell WC pans and basins were being damaged, they enlisted the help of TYDE.Our specialists worked with Serco's Facility Management Team to develop bespoke Dudley Resan WC backplates, basins and basin brackets. The solution delivered has proven to be exceptionally hard-wearing whilst saving both time and money.HMP & YOI Doncaster cells were previously fitted with Armitage Shanks Portland WC pans and ceramic basins plus Mazak basin brackets. Despite the brackets being tested to 150Kg and breaking at around 200Kg, they were coupled with the expectedly fragile ceramic basins and were unable to withstand the heavy treatment to which they were being exposed. The decision was therefore taken to replace Portland WC pans with Resan models. The prison walls are robustly constructed from concrete so any replacement products needed to be easily retrofittable. In addition, when ceramic sanitaryware shatters, the resulting fragments are extremely sharp and present an obvious and significant security risk. Under the terms of the management contract, Serco loses revenue of around £300 for every night that a cell is left out of service whilst broken sanitaryware is being replaced.Our team began by talking to Serco about the breakages and the resulting operational problems. Site visits were also completed as part of the process in order to better understand the project requirements. The first problem to be addressed was the weakness of the basins and support brackets. Serco confirmed that the previously specified Portland basin had been discontinued by Armitage Shanks.In order to provide a solution, TYDE’s design team exploited state-of-the-art CAD/CAM and rapid prototyping capabilities to configure an alternative. Moulds were then produced along with a sample basin for approval. The Thomas Dudley Group includes an award-winning engineering foundry. Here, the team set about developing a new bracket to support the newly designed basin. Engineered using an exceptionally strong grade of ductile iron, this provided far greater durability than the old Mazak bracket. Whilst a WC pan from the existing Resan range provided a compatible replacement for the Portland ceramic pans, a bespoke stainless steel backplate was needed in order to comply with the installation requirements approved by Serco. Our colourful Luminoso glass shower and toilet cubicles combine to create an energising shower and changing area for a new gym in the heart of London’s Victoria. The vibrant shower and changing rooms at Gymbox in Victoria feature our Luminoso glass shower and toilet cubicles, back-painted in a striking mix of bright oranges, reds and yellows to complement the bold tiling design. The cubicles feature high specification 10mm clear float toughened glass doors, partitions and division panels. We also installed floating Corian trough style vanity units with wall mounted taps and soap dispensers in the changing room area.

Working together with in-house joinery division, Cre8 Joinery Solutions, Washroom created new washrooms using a mix of different materials including dark wood veneer, concrete and bronze. The long trough shaped and wall-mounted, floating Arpeggio cast concrete vanity units in a traditional dark grey shade, reflect the industrial inspiration of the design, with the addition of black power-coated taps and soap holders providing a contemporary twist. The Cre8 joinery team delivered the bespoke lift lobby panels faced in exactly the same dark oak dyed veneer used on the full height Alto toilet cubicles installed in the washrooms.

Together with its in-house joinery division Washroom delivered a new basement shower and changing area, plus kitchenettes and storage for this redeveloped office. Forte SGL shower cubicles with satin anodised aluminium pedestal legs and 'D’ shaped headrail, were specified in dark grey. The spacious cubicles include a bespoke fold-down bench for extra convenience. Washroom installed bespoke white Corian solid surface vanity units complete with inset wastebin in the superloos. The team also crafted a bespoke oak staircase which runs on every level of the building and installed new oak slatted wall panels throughout to complete the design.

We’ve created a striking new reception area plus contemporary monochrome superloos and a cycle change area as part of an office refurbishment. Each self-contained superloo cubicle contains a toilet and wall-mounted vanity unit, with the full height Alto toilet cubicle doors providing complete privacy for office staff. Manufactured in white high pressure laminate, the toilet cubicle doors were completed with matching Corian solid surface edging and black ironmongery to match the rest of the black washroom accessories. Washroom also delivered toughened low iron glass back-painted wall panelling for each toilet cubicle.

As part of the development at Riverside Sunderland, Brims Construction are carrying out the work at the former Gilbridge Police Station site. During the works, Helmsman were asked to supply some lockers. The client requested Heavy Duty lockers with a wood effect finish, alongside a bespoke vanity cupboard with vanity shelf.
