Folkestone Rugby Club transformed its traditional clubhouse into a modern sports and social facility, complete with balcony viewing area. Approximately 40 metres of FUSION® Commercial outdoor balustrade were installed on the perimeter of the new balcony to provide an essential safety barrier. The glass panel system enhanced the sense of space, with minimal disruption to views of the pitch. The club’s logo was etched into the glass panels to add a bespoke finishing touch.

The Brimstone is a luxury boutique hotel. It is located in the beautiful Lake District, and their view of the famous Langdale Pikes would be difficult to beat. In order to provide a clear view of the countryside, the balconies of the rooms and suites were fitted with Q-railing's Easy Glass Slim all-glass balustrades. The railing system's large glass expanses, maximising light and visibility, plus unbeatable quality and safety, made it the obvious choice. A total of 116 metres of glass balcony balustrades were installed in just 2 weeks.

The Gasholders’ – 149 distinctive canalside apartments and penthouses, built within a refurbished triplet of Grade II listed, cast iron gas-holder guide frames at the heart of King’s Cross, London. Our work on the project included the 149 private balconies, with 14 permutations, all with views across the capital. Variable in size from 7 – 15m², each balcony is curved with odd shaped sides, requiring a solution to accommodate and support the 20mm external porcelain paving. The Buzon DPH pedestal system solved this, not only accommodating the variable heights and slopes, but also the odd shaped pavers and curves.

Neaco gets the green light at City Green, Sunderland

We supplied and installed our Spectrum nylon-coated balustrades with glass infills and Neatdek aluminium decking with alternate inserts on every balcony. Frosted glass screens were also supplied between balconies to provide an element of privacy for the occupants. A spokesperson from ENGIE says, “Neaco offered an excellent service from start to finish. They had the task of designing and installing their product to the existing structural steel which they carried out with very few issues and all modifications were handled by the teams promptly and efficiently, so that our programme was maintained throughout. Overall, the service provided was outstanding”.

The A’DAM Tower is a well-known landmark in Amsterdam, the building rises to almost 100 metres and provides views over the whole city. Its renovation involved adding a glass balcony balustrade around the rooftop terrace. Q-railing agreed the use of the Easy Glass Max system with architect OeverZaaijer Architecture (OZ). This high-grade glass balcony railing solution can cope with line loads in excess of 5 kN/m, with modern looks and maximum transparency. OZ were immediately convinced that Easy Glass Max was a perfect fit. In total, 110 metres of railing were installed.

The complex now offers a contemporary 4-star hotel, an impressive leisure facility with 3 pools and a spa, and a selection of restaurants. The resort also boasts two championship golf courses. FUSION® Commercial outdoor balustrade with glass was installed on all guest balconies within the three-storey hotel. Its modern mix of metal newels and hardwood handrails makes it ideal for contemporary settings, whilst the large glass infill panels maximise the sense of space on the balconies and allow an unobstructed view of the 18th fairway.

projectNobu Hotel is a new development in Shoreditch, East London, and was opened by Hollywood legend Robert De Niro and Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa in May 2018.The design of the five-storey building – which has 150 hotel rooms and suites – is a nod to the area’s industrial past with a ‘frayed edge’ look of stepped balconies formed with glass fibre, reinforced concrete and cantilevered steel beams. The design has also been likened to that of a cruise ship and received much critical acclaim.The roofing system covered 1500 sq. m, which included a green roof area and tiered balconies.

Station Square Parade is a 2018 residential development right next to Colchester train station. Originally a large office building, it has now been converted into 67 luxury apartments with private balconies all set around an internal private courtyard. Alfresco Floors supplied and installed a mixture of 600×600 and 400×1200 Rowe, Moroto and Umer 20mm thick slip-resistant porcelain tiles to create a raised seating area and private balconies for all the top floor apartments. The design, supply and installation contract totalled nearly 500 Sqm of external porcelain paving and a small area of artificial grass.

Stretto-11 grating has been incorporated into the facade at Here East, the former Olympic Broadcast Centre. Soffit and cladding panels made from Stretto-11 have been used around the central entrances of the 280-metre length of the building and within the recessed openings. The contemporary exterior, featuring a glass frontage with digitally printed ceramic frit, is punctuated by nine projecting and three recessed balconies. These break up the colossal scale of the building and introduce an intense orange accent. Lang+Fulton also supplied decking for the projecting balconies made from PL-66×11 pressure locked heel-proof grating.

The solution was to use Garland's Dura-Walk Balcony and Walkway coating system, not only offering an anti-slip coating but ensuring the walkway remain watertight, protecting the storage unit below.
