The Bauporte revolving door had to welcome the guests giving them the feeling of luxury and comfort. The curved glass walls are made from a single sheet of glass. The door leaves are equipped with emergency exit wings that will collapse in case of an emergency evacuation. In the roof an air curtain prevents cold air to cool down the building inside. The doors cladding is
made of a stunning mirror finish stainless steel.
Laminate Lockers & Z Lockers at 72 Welbeck Street, London

This brand-new sophisticated working environment in London was designed with best-in-class facilities, so it was an honour for Helmsman to be asked to supply the lockers. With the cycle to work scheme fast becoming more popular amongst workplaces, its no surprise that 72 Welbeck Street provided 114 spaces for bicycles, 9 showers and 138 lockers in their luxurious new commuter facilities.It was great to work with Specialist Joinery Group again on this project. In order to optimise the storage for the lockers, the client chose a variety of locker designs, including Z Lockers and 3 Compartment Laminate Lockers.Z Lockers are a great choice as they allow 2 people to store their items in the footprint of one locker and allow hanging of clothes, perfect for those who have cycled to work and are getting changed. While laminate lockers are perfect for a professional heavy duty finish.Both the Z Lockers and Laminate lockers chosen were manufactured from aluminium and stainless steel with Abet Laminate doors in colour Spring White. These materials are designed to withstand a wet environment and so are perfect for the changing rooms at 72 Welbeck Street. The Z Lockers also featured stands with seats, with slats in matching laminate from Abet.All of the lockers were finished with black circle number plates and Lowe and Fletcher camlocks. Heathervale House, Tunbridge Wells

Installed alongside some interesting brass architectural detailing, TECHNAL aluminium windows, doors and curtain walling has been specified and installed at Heathervale House, transforming the outdated office development. Situated in the centre of Tunbridge Wells, Heathervale House is a commercial property that has been used as an office space for decades. Originally clad in brick, slate and hung tile, the building had shown signs of disrepair, looking tired and dilapidated. To bring it back to life, the building owner developed plans to undertake a wide scale refurbishment and extension of the property. Following a feasibility study, the building was handed across to design-led architectural practice MortonScarr. From the outset, MortonScarr recognised how important updated glazing systems would be in improving the aesthetics and performance of the building, both internally and externally. Previously, Heathervale House had featured small, brown-framed windows, which limited how much sunlight those inside the offices received throughout the day. The entire facade of the three-storey building was re-clad with concrete tiles, with interesting projecting brass window boxes also incorporated. The window boxes, which feature TECHNAL systems, added visual relief to the building externally, whilst maximising internal vistas for the occupants. TECHNAL also assisted on a large rear extension, a new glazed lift to the front and two additional fully glazed storeys on top of the existing roof. Flooding the new office spaces with daylight, the large glazed expanses are shaded by two-storey bronze louvres. As a result the newly fitted office now brings in much more natural light than before.

Washroom cubicles at Velocity Brooklands are combined with Maxwood Xeista Cascade vanity units. Vanity tops are made from engineered Zodiac quartz stone, a beautiful, non-porous surface that will retain its look and lustre with minimal maintenance. Mirrors are installed from vanity unit level up to the ceiling together with some full height mirrors and pelmet lighting. Splashbacks were made from back-painted frosted metallic glass. Chrome finish single lever mix taps for hand basins complete the washrooms’ smart, contemporary feel.The Maxwall Duct Panelling system was used to assist washroom installation and neatly conceal pipework and cisterns. Made-to-measure for each project and delivered to site ready to be installed, Maxwall ducting units make the running of pipework and mounting of sanitaryware quick, easy and secure. At Velocity Brooklands, Maxwall units in back-painted ‘Lime Zest’ glass provide fully accessible back panels to toilet cubicles, while full height Maxwall panels in white back-painted toughened glass are installed to male urinals, complete with frosted glass urinal dividers.Three showers, including one designed for disabled access, are provided in all washrooms in line with the Government’s green scheme to encourage employees to cycle to work. These facilities also include lockers from Maxwood’s Ocean range, which offers a robust storage solution for wet and dry environments, together with complementary benching. At Velocity Brooklands, the lockers’ standard aluminium carcass is combined with durable, easy to clean solid grade laminate doors and sides in a white finish.

The main entrance required a major overall to ensure a draft free lobby at the hotel.
The design of the hotel left only one option, a Bauporte Royal Nostalgia revolving door.
The door not only eliminates cold draughts but due to the in floor heater also provides a warm welcome to the guests.
The door leaves also automatically fold open in an emergency to allow the guests to leave the hotel quickly.

The 5-star Art’otel is overlooking Amsterdam’s world-famous central
station. Located adjacent to the famous Dam Square in Amsterdam, the entrance has been developed in harmony with the interior design and the historic exterior façade. In addition, this entrance had to
create a unique, inviting look from the outside. In short, the entrance
door should make the connection between inside and outside.
The Full Glass revolving door is constructed from a fully welded stainless-steel construction. It is clad with unique Bauporte Black-end stainless steel cladding.

In 1999 Kesho Kurokawa Architects & Associates designed a new wing for the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
The Full Glass revolving doors were designed and built by Bauporte, they are constructed to the RC2 burglar resistance standard and are compliant with EN1627.
The state-of-the-art glass structure complements the curved and elliptical shape of the Kurokawa wing, while connecting it to the original museum building designed by Gerrit Rietveld.
Bauporte was responsible for the technical design, engineering, production, installation and maintenance of the
transparent revolving doors, defining the identity of the transparent entrance building.

Disabled persons. Disabled buttons inside and outside operate the door at half speed and adapts to the speed of
the person passing by. Wheelchairs, mobility scooters, disabled on
crutches, can all have a safe and comfortable passage.

Chinmaya Mission exists to provide individuals with the wisdom and practical means for personal growth and development, enabling them to become positive contributors to society. At Chinmaya Kirti, their home in London, a major renovation project was designed as a vision for future generations, rather than just an improved building.Working with architects, KJC, and contractor, Home Republic, Style was specified to be part of that vision, installing moveable walls to enable one large space in the classroom/bookshop area to be easily converted into six multi-functional rooms based on daily requirements. A combination of multiple Dorma Hüppe Variflex Glass and Variflex solid semi-automatic moveable walls were agreed as the best solution, with the glass moveable walls providing a 52dB acoustic barrier and the solid wall 55dB.With a standard anodised aluminium frame finish to the glass walls, and a melamine finish to the solid walls, the final installation provided a light and calm feel to the room design.“This is a great example of how using a combination of glass and solid moveable walls can transform how space is used,” said Michael Porter, sales director for Style South.“The glass moveable walls can combine to create a temporary corridor while the solid moveable walls then segregate the space into smaller individual rooms. A £1.1 million renovation at Beths Grammar School in Bexley, Greater London included a new ultra-modern reception with full height glazing. Ingleton Wood LLP architects specified aluminium solar shading by Dales Fabrications with the Shadex 260 elliptical blade to reduce solar gain and solar glare. The Shadex 260 blade because it is self supporting up to 5m centres, making it ideal for the apex of the very large over-hanging canopy above the new main entrance. It was specified in combination with a low maintenance curved Aluminium Fascia Soffit and Meridian wall coping system, both manufactured by Dales.

Located in the Centre of Eindhoven, an existing mall takes on an entirely new expression - one which aims to push a complete shopping experience to its visitors.
One of the main challenges was how to create the entrance from the car park to the shopping mall. We needed to meet a 30-minute fireproof door regulation and prevent exhaust air from the car park entering the retail area, so we needed an extremely functional solution. At the same time, the entrance was an opportunity to make an impression on visitors - so a highly aesthetic solution was also required.

Early discussion with Forza regarding project floor plans and elevations enabled the Forza team to prepare veneer layons that fully utilised the potential of the species distinctive decorative features and then create panel layout drawings in order that product delivered to site was clearly sequentially numbered for installation.
Incorporated in the project joinery component package for Forza were items such as skirting and lift surrounds in addition to mirror frames and IPS panels for “Boutique” style washrooms.

THE PROJECTSymons House is a unique student amenities project nestled within the Symons House student accommodation building in Leeds. London and Scottish Student Housing (LSSH) joined forces with award-winning interior design company, 74, to create something truly special.The interior design of Symons House reflects the architecture of the building, with an overarching 1930s theme including brushed brickwork and bronzed metal framework. Created with students firmly in mind, the full amenity space includes a study lounge, library, cinema, games room, communal kitchen, bathroom, gym, and private dining room.The brief for this project was to create a sophisticated, grown-up space which is a stylish change from the traditionally bright and primary-colour-saturated student buildings found elsewhere.THE MAILBOXESThe Symons House project features two banks of freestanding, standard steel H1 mailboxes in the spacious lobby of the building. One bank contains 120 mailboxes, 10 high x 12 wide, and the other bank contains 240 mailboxes which are also 10 high x 12 wide but are back-to-back. This bank acts as a focal point in the heart of the reception lobby area.The mailboxes are in front / out front horizontal products that are freestanding and rest on table supports. These supports ensure that the mailboxes do not need to be mounted or recessed into a wall.As always, we offer a range of options to ensure that the table supports meet the customer needs. They can be polyester powder coated to match the design of the mailboxes or can be clad to create a feature point.The table supports for Symons House were specifically designed to suit the sophisticated theme. The industrial, boxy, aluminium welded legs were powder coated to match the matt black cladding of the mailboxes, creating an overall sleek finish.Working with the stylish interior design theme, the mailboxes have bronze powder-coated doors in a high-end IGP finish which are encapsulated within the matt black body of the mailbox.

Sheppard Robson was commissioned by London & Manchester Assurance to design a landmark building on the corner of Finsbury Pavement and South Place, London. The result is The Helicon, one
of London’s first sustainable buildings to combine retail and offices into a building that is energy-efficient and economical to run.
The office entrance foyer is a double volume space, some 9m high, enclosed externally by a suspended curved steel and glass façade, forming a triple-glazed void.
The offices maximise the available
natural daylight through the use of clear un-tinted glass.

an impressive new entrance to the Arion Banki.
Z Lockers at Paddington Square, London

Paddington Square is a brand new working, shopping and dining quarter opening in 2023. The impressive transparent, glass building, also known as Paddington Cube, provides up to 50,000sqm of floor space with offices, retail units, a café, a bar and restaurants. The area underneath the building features the Bakerloo Line Underground Entrance and ticket hall.Following their work on a marketing suite at Paddington Square, Lucas Ltd were invited back to provide a full back of house painting and fit-out service across the basement, ground and first floor levels. Helmsman were delighted to assist them with the lockers in the project.The client requested laminate Z Lockers for two sets of changing rooms at Paddington Square. Between the male and female changing rooms we supplied and installed 268 Z Lockers, for 536 people. Z Lockers are a fantastic space optimising locker design, with a small footprint and maximised internal space. As one of the UK’s leading locker manufacturers, we specialise in bespoke locker design. The locker sizes requested were not our standard sizes, so a bespoke Z Locker design was created for the project at 1525 x 325 x 500mm.As the Z Lockers were for a changing room environment, a wet spec was needed. The body was manufactured from aluminium and stainless steel and powder coated in colour Ice, with the doors manufactured from solid grade laminate from Abet Laminati in colour Sand. Our laminate lockers provide a modern, heavy-duty finish, perfect for changing rooms where the lockers are to be used on a regular basis. The lockers were finished with a Lowe and Fletcher Hasp lock and black laminate number plates, an aesthetically pleasing pairing.As always, our installation team worked hard to provide the best finish to the project. Looking down for architectural features in any Georgian town and as well as coal hole covers, manholes and the like you'll see all manner of air bricks and grilles, mostly for sub floor ventilation in property walls.
Here is an illustration of a cast iron vent underneath a front door in Regency Bath. Like many it's in a pretty poor state. This one's patched up with steel plate and it's suffocating, what is a key part of the ground floor causing damp.
