Salford community project, Working in Wood, is run by Incredible Education CIC, a social enterprise providing nature-based services for local communities through horticulture and forest school activities. The Cleavley Community Forest Garden also has wood kitchen, a poly tunnel, outdoor learning area, an edible garden that supplies fruit and veg and a coffee shop & cafe that serves plant-based and healthy food.

Various collections in stone-effect porcelain stoneware and in marble- effect porcelain stoneware by Atlas Concorde were used in the prestigious renovation project of a semidetached-house near Morchiuso (CO) be it indoors, outdoor floors or garden floors.The Marco Castelletti architectural studio added the finishing touch to the project, following energy efficiency criteria, using materials to reduce consumption. The Diocese was looking to create a cohesive, multi-functional interiors that would be sympathetic to the ethos of all its resident groups. Their bright and flexible new space features Milliken's Rootwork luxury vinyl tiles from the Change Agent collection in the reception and kitchen spcaces. Poise Retold and Tracing Landscape - Field Study modular carpet designs with WellBAC® Comfort cushion backing deliver exceptional underfoot and acoustic performance.

Coopers installed and commissioned two FireMaster® Plus fire curtains, the first to protect the property from fire and smoke migrating from the kitchen whilst the second to protect the internal balcony from smoke and fire travelling between floors. Both fire curtains provide 2 hours fire and insulation zone protection and were installed into the ceiling to remain hidden from view until deployed by a fire alarm.

Specialist lighting design company PSL, were looking for something a little different for their trendy new Bermondsey showroom. Designers, James Plumb obliged with a beautifully crafted and truly unique design that involved much concrete and some special stainless steel kitchen units from GEC Anderson.Drawer cabinets, base cabinets and appliance doors were supplied and installed by GEC Anderson, following the development of the detailed designs.

FasTop SL45 self smoothing polyurethane resin was used as a 5mm thick seamless floor finish for this large hospital kitchen in Sydney, Australia. This facility is extremely busy producing over 2 thousand meal a day which have to be moved around the hospital quickly on special trolleys. This type of traffic meant the flooring had to be able to withstand regular wheeled traffic and footfall and be safe and cleanable within a hospital environment.

Elderswell in Bedfordshire is the latest development in Inspired Villages’ portfolio of retirement villages. Karndean flooring has been specified throughout the Village Centre as well as in the kitchens of each residential unit, providing an attractive natural wood look and meeting all the technical specifications for older living and the demands of the Centre’s commercial spaces.

A GEC Anderson stainless steel counter and splashbacks were recently deployed in the new meeting room and ancillary facilities at St Mary’s Church, Wivenhoe. The historic Parish Church of Wivenhoe is thought to be built on Roman foundations and is the oldest remaining building in this small riverside town in Essex. Against this historic background, the new space, designed by Inkpen Downie Architecture, provides a light and airy addition that includes a small kitchen and servery. Stainless steel was specified for the curved counter and for the splashbacks within the kitchen itself. The specified units were supplied and installed by GEC Anderson, under the supervision of local contractor, Bakers of Danbury.“This was a nice project to have been fortunate enough to be involved with and, in my opinion, is a great example of how well new can sit with old. Functionality goes hand in hand with the high quality, smart but informal appearance. The world’s leading museum of art and design, the V&A Museum, appointed Consultancy Webb Yates to carry out significant design upgrade work to its ventilation systems to provide heating and cooling for the staff kitchen and back of house area. A small window provided the only access point to the installation area in the courtyard. S&P UK was selected to supply a heat recovery unit that could fit through the small access point and meet the bespoke requirements of the building

Architect: Simon Whitehead Architects This extension and renovation to a detached house in South London has completely transformed the living space by creating open plan rooms filled with light thanks to the innovative use of windows and sliding doors. The centrepiece of the works was a single storey ground floor extension that extended the kitchen and usable living space, whilst connecting the house with the garden thanks to a corner opening set of IDSystems' Grand Slider II aluminium sliding doors and a large fixed frame picture window.

Architect: Harvey Norman Architects. Having returned home after years of working abroad the owners of this 1970s house chose to extend the property to make better use of the internal space and to breakdown the divide between the house and the garden. The design centred on a single storey pitched roof extension with large IDSystems' theEDGE2.0 sliding doors and fixed frame gable end glazing that transformed the layout of the home, creating a large open plan living space that included a kitchen, dining and lounge space.

A London family asked Somner MacDonald to help them reimagine the rear of their house for the next generation. In response, the team designed a new extension that connects seamlessly with the main body of the house and flows through to the garden, giving the family a unique kitchen and dining space.Both client and architect were familiar with Russwood flooring, having used it in their previous projects. In this instance, Somner Macdonald specified Pearl European Oak flooring in Prime grade, to complement the simple, calming and assured spaces created by their design. 

This lovely old Kensington home has been completely renovated from top to bottom including complete basement development to create a modern-day family home. The traditional style hall leads to an open plan kitchen living area with a distinctive modern feel. The Swedish owner included dual blackout/screen roller blinds to the windows and skylight, incorporated luxury Lutron® blinds, within the Blindspace® concealment system, designed and installed by Grants Blinds.

Coopers FireMaster Concertina is a great way to offer compartmentation between areas like a kitchen and restaurant and able to divide up these two critical areas in a public building and act as a fire break. By installing the FireMaster Concertina meant it would provide the building with an approved, non-invasive means of fire protection that would satisfy the fire regulations as well as ensuring that the open plan design remained as intended. Compartmentation and Protected Means of Escape were required as part of the fire safety solutions.

Located on Curzon Street, LondonMetric has an office that really is a must-see! They wanted to further enhance the wellbeing of their employees, whilst focusing on the growing importance of improving their sustainability and efficiency. They went ahead with two Billi Quadra Sparkling 460 systems with XL dispensers in Chrome, providing boiling, chilled and sparkling filtered water. The Chrome taps perfectly fit in with the design of the stylish kitchen areas and the benefits of our Quadra systems allow LondonMetric to save invaluable space, energy and time.

A newly built student accommodation block in Liverpool features an attractive, colourful external finish, thanks to Cembrit’s Cembonit cladding boards.Plato House is a purpose built student development comprising 86 spacious student rooms complete with a kitchen, en-suite bathrooms and high speed Wi-Fi throughout. Supplied via Vivalda of Manchester, Pemberton-based cladding contractor, Bak Cladding Solutions installed approximately 1000m2 of Cembonit cladding in a combination of Tufa, Pearl and Sand colours.

No kitchen is ever complete without the sink and tap, and on a high-end project such as The Atelier in London, it was important that the sinks, just as every area of the design, were of the highest specification. Hopkins Architects, who worked on the project on behalf of house builder Regal-London, chose the Abode R15 stainless steel sink to achieve the brief. With the manufacturer’s Althia designer brassware being the perfect match, this sink and tap pairing were supplied for use across all of the 43 boutique apartments in West Kensington.

111 The Strand, is an eight storey landmark office and retail building in central London. The property occupies a corner position on the Strand with a return frontage to Savoy Place. The majority of the 30,549 ft² office space is let to CVC Capital Partners.The iconic building is well-known for its contemporary appearance. The limestone façade with metal frames with curved bays of stone and glass, and a stone relief depicting the surrounding area truly stands out.With the recent acquisition of the long leasehold office building, the private equity firm CVC Advisors Ltd found it time for a complete refurbishment. The existing reception area and office floor 1 to 6 were stripped and upgraded to Category-B Standard. This is inclusive of new MEPH installations and a commercial kitchen fit out to service the meeting room suites and dining areas.Stravifloor Channel, a floating floor system using isolated steel channels with proprietary elastomeric pads, four layers of plywood, and a special damping layer was installed in the catering kitchen on the 5th floor of this fit-out project. The isolated steel batten system with enhanced stiffness was designed to minimise the transfer of impact noise to the office floors below.During the installation, an elastic Perimeter Strip was applied around the floors’ perimeter, to completely decouple it from the building structure.

Project OverviewThe Percy Gee Building, at Leicester University, is named after a former benefactor and chairman of the former college. Over the last 2-3 years the building has undergone an exciting £13.1 million transformation and expansion. By using Amron Welltec “wave” or “corrugated” profiled aluminium sheet on an interior wall something new and unexpected was injected into the kitchen space. To take this ‘jolt away from the norm’ still further the designers envisaged not shiny metal, but the appearance of weathered and rusted metal – an industrial ‘vibe’ perhaps hinting at determination and hard work.Powdertech Collections includes a range of finishes which replicate patination/rust on metal, giving a ‘Corten’ appearance but with no rusty residue which could mark clothing and other surfaces. The client chose ‘Firebox’ from the Evolution/Rust collection. This gives a very natural ‘rusted’ look with no two panels looking the same. Powdertech applied Firebox to 80 m2 of material which line the walls and over-counter area of the Campus Kitchen.BenefitsEvolution™ Rust finishes can be used internally and also externally. Getting by with little is architect Leonardo Di Chiara’s modus operandi. With his tiny house, the young Italian architect made a dream come true: he can travel across the country independently with his own four walls. His transportable home comprises just 9 square meters but includes all the necessities, even including some luxury in the form of a “rooftop terrace.” The founder of Tinyhouse University in Italy relied on the HAWA Concepta 25 pivot/slide-in hardware system for his kitchen doors.

Architect: Simon Gill Architects. The brief for this project in Putney was to modernise the ground floor of this red-brick detached house, create a larger dining room and better connect the inside of the home with the garden. The end result is a complete transformation. Gone are the compressed spaces and smaller rooms and in their place is a large open-plan living area with seamless connection between the lounge, kitchen and dining room. These open plan spaces are filled with natural light thanks to a combination of Grand Slider II sliding doors and huge fixed frame picture windows.

This Jersey based financial management company worked with Axis Mason to create this modern, agile work environment. Milliken's Red Dot award-winning Colour Compositions plank carpet flows seamlessly through the space with transitioning pops of colour that zone the variety of working zones. Heritage Wood and Eero LVT offer a robust and practical solution for the walkways and kitchen area and co-ordinate beautifully with the carpet. Acoustics in the space are managed with the carpet's Comfort Lite cushion backing, absorbing 31dB of distracting noise.

This Norwegian property company's headquarters in a chic and contemporary office space. The circulation areas feature Milliken's bold Three Corners design from the Clerkenwell collection in shades of cream and brown. Tracing Landscape' Field Study SDN design is installed in the meeting spaces in deep, dark tones of Secret Caves. Both carpet products offer exceptional acoustic performance keeping this workplace calm and quiet. For the kitchen and bathroom areas Polished Concrete LVT provides a practical flooring solution with a raw urban feel.

Leeds City College, the third largest further education college in the UK, has opened a new city-centre campus to offer modern-day vocational study programmes. The campus is a £14 million new build extension and refurbishment of a Grade II listed building into a state-of-the-art specialist vocational centre with training kitchens, a commercial training restaurant, hair and beauty teaching facilities and commercial salons as well as a refectory, library and student services. Being a refurbishment project, the build had a number of challenges.

The design brief for Suffolk St James’s focused on a comprehensive refurbishment to create CAT-A offices on the 1st to 4th floors, along with a striking reception on the ground floor. The lower ground space provides studio/gym, bike store, kitchen and a further CAT-A office. There is a large roof terrace on the 5th floor.The challenge on this project was to replace the existing single 10-person lift and create step-free access to all five floors, including the 2,000 sq ft roof terrace and lower ground floor level.

Abode delivered a combined sink and tap offering to high-end house builder Berkeley Group, for its Edenbrook Village development in Hampshire. The challenge for Abode was to supply a complimentary sink and tap offering to work alongside the specified German contemporary kitchens from Leicht. Exceeding at the challenge, Abode took one of its stand-out designer taps, New Media in four finishes and coupled them with the extremely versatile R15 Matrix stainless steel one-and-a-half bowl sink, providing solutions that excelled in form and function.

Merging two former churches in the Bolton area, the development of Harwood Methodist Church has delivered something special for the Church and the wider community. The challenge for the team at Ellis Williams Architects was to design spaces with a practical function but also ensuring that there is a link to tradition.Thanks to its exceptional performance in heavy traffic environments, Tessera Alignment carpet tiles in the Climate colourway was installed in the main worship area – which can hold up to 250 people. As the space also enables the latest AV technology and sound system to support the growing use of band music during regular worship, it is ideal that the carpet tiles can reduce up to 23 dB impact sound.A café space links directly into the worship area with a well-appointed community kitchen serving this and a large community hall. A range of safety flooring from the STEP range provided the ideal solution for these areas, where the Classic Oak effect provided a sophisticated finish in the café and Safestep R11 – for high-risk slip protection – was used in the kitchen. In addition, Surestep Original in Elephant offered a fresh alternative and improved cleaner aesthetic for the bathrooms.Finally, in the multi-use community hall, lobby, circulation spaces and flexible conference rooms, the subtle yet striking marble effect of Marmoleum Real in Slate Grey delivers a beautiful neutral backdrop for a range of functions and events.

PROJECTWith the UK market for high specification homes in desirable locations continuing to grow this year, Abode was the natural choice to supply the prestigious Limsi Grove Cala Homes development in Hertford. Designed to cater for the executive market, 41 exceptional 3,4 and 5 bedroomed detached family homes have been meticulously designed to complement a conservation area and provide the best in town and country living, offering modernity and low maintenance. With properties on the market at £834,950-£1,359,950, choosing the best suppliers was key.  PRODUCTSTwo styles of undermounted sinks from Abode’s classic R50 stainless steel range were selected for installation with solid surfaces for a premium look and feel in the kitchen (AW5015) and utility room (AW5014). The classic Matrix R50 under-mount stainless steel sink collection offers a range of 0.7mm thick 18/10 grade steel bowls that will suit every kitchen environment and budget. Other options include the AW5015 large single bowl, and LH or RH 1.5 bowl sinks. At Yealmpton Primary to the East of Plymouth in South Devon all children are encouraged to be more active during break and lunch times with sports and fitness at the forefront of that focus. When the school implemented a refurbishment programme for their multi-use hall and kitchen servery area, they turned to international flooring specialist Gerflor to supply their world class Taraflex® Multi-Use vinyl sports flooring and their Tarasafe Ultra safety flooring. An Isolsport underlay was also supplied by Gerflor, enabling the installer to lay the Taraflex® Multi Use directly over the existing Granwood floor.

With the help of Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, founder of money.co.uk, Chris Morling has been successful in his mission of creating the ultimate workspace for his Cirencester-based independent comparison website’s headquarters. The grade two listed Victorian castle features a statement herringbone floor design made up of Da Vinci planks in three contrasting oak colourways - American Oak, Fresco Light Oak and Natural Oak - and matching bespoke 36” x 3” white block colour plank and tile combination in the dedicated kitchen and break-out area.

This ventilation system was key for this oak frame cottage in Herefordshire. After achieving an airtightness of 1.51, it was imperative to integrate ventilation to ensure the cottage was as energy-efficient and comfortable as possible.Partel consulted with Oakwrights to design a smart ventilation system that improved air quality and reduced energy costs. LUNOS e2 heat recovery ventilation units supplied by Partel were installed in all living spaces such as the living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. The versatile installation option, extremely compact fans, and highly energy-efficiency operation made them ideal for this residential project.

High performance sheet flooring from Polyflor was used to create a statement design floor in The Armoury Café and Kitchen at the Imperial War Museum Duxford in Cambridgeshire. Designed by London based SHH Architecture & Interior Design, this refurbished restaurant area at Britain’s largest aviation museum features a monochrome floor design which was created using 300 m² of Polyflor’s Classic Mystique PUR vinyl flooring. Installed by flooring contractors Key Floors, the Smokestone, Nocturne and Quartz shades form concentric circles that echo the Royal Air Force logo.

WMOR Architects completely redesigned the ground floor to include a flexible living area to open into the garden. Accoya was chosen as the ideal material for the extension because of it aesthetic appearance as well as its ability to provide better insulation than other materials. & the owners wanted to use the most sustainable material they could. The Accoya extension which houses the show piece kitchen will be left to weather naturally and match the pale grey flooring. This was specifically designed so that in the summer, when the sliding door completely opens, the interior & exterior space will merge seamlessly.
