Description

VMZ Composite is a multi-layered panel made up of two sheets of zinc that are 0.5 mm thick and thermo-glued on either side of a 3 mm-thick mineral-rich polyethylene core for optimum reaction to fire. It is manufactured using tested Alcoa Architecture Products technology, combining the qualities, elegance and durability of VMZINC with the rigidity and smoothness of composite. VMZ Composite offers unique architectural possibilities for facades.

Installed on a wall-mounted framework as part of a ventilated façade offering a healthy, durable solution for buildings. VMZ Composite can be installed in cassettes or riveted/ screwed-down sheets.

Advantages:

  • Exceptional smoothness and rigidity.
  • Horizontal or vertical installation.
  • Panels with large dimensions.
  • Strong dimensional stability.
  • Solutions for complex shapes thanks to an excellent aptitude for transforming and bending.
  • Fire retardant core.

Bond Integrity:

When tested for bond integrity, in accordance with ASTM D-903 (simulating resistance to panel delamination), there shall be no adhesive failure of the bond:

  • Peel Strength: 100 Nmm/mm as manufactured.
  • Peel Strength: 100 Nmm/mm in after eight hours in water at 200° F (93°C).
  • Peel Strength: 100 Nmm/mm after 21 days soaking in water at 70° F (21°C).

Supporting structure:

Installation on a metal substructure allowing back ventilation. Airtightness is provided by the structural wall.

Product Options

Size:

Various sizes available with the addition of the following on request:

- Width:

1250 mm with a thickness of 0.70 mm.

Finish:

- ANTHRA-ZINC:

  • Visible grain matches the colour of slate.
  • Produced through a phosphatation of mill finish natural zinc.
  • Acceptable tolerance of: Y =5 to 7.
  • Includes a thin organic coating with a tolerance of shininess of 6 to 10.

Due to the dark colour of ANTHRA-ZINC it should be carefully considered before using on non-rinsed surfaces such as protected facades and soffits.

- PIGMENTO:

  • Natural product that enables the texture of the QUARTZ-ZINC to still be seen whilst offering the designer the choice of colour to complement other elements of a building's facade or roof.
  • Colouration is achieved with a special pigmento layer that enhances the qualities of the zinc without presenting a block colour. Does not contain chromate.
  • Tested to EN 13523-10:2010 for UV-humidity and EN 15523:2001 for colour stability and requires minimum maintenance.

- QUARTZ-ZINC:

  • Appearance and texture that does not change over time.
  • When scratched, will self-heal.
  • Grey tones designed to blend well with existing construction materials.
  • Produced through a phosphatation of mill finish natural zinc.
  • Acceptable tolerance of QUARTZ-ZINC, Y = 22 to 25. Darkness of the pre-weathered zinc is measured electronically using a Y figure where 0 is black and 100 is white.
