System 17000 Plus Roofing
Description

Torch-on, single layer, PAO bitumen felt waterproofing system for flat or pitched roofs.

  • Single layer system with two layers at perimeters and details. Suitable for new build and refurbishment projects including overlays.
  • Capsheet: Tear resistant spunbond polyester carrier, coated with mix of poly alpha olefin (PAO) modified bitumen, plasticisers and fillers.
  • PAO modification gives excellent heat resistance and cold temperature flexibility.
  • Life expectancy in excess of 30 years.
  • Single layer reduces amount of labour required, making a cost effective flat roof system.
  • Choice of 10, 15 or 20 year insurance backed guarantee or 15 year manufacturer's guarantee on application, subject to installation and inspection by Bailey. Consult manufacturer.
  • Installation by recommended contractors.
  • Supplier offers system design, including wind load, U-value and flat roof drainage calculations.

Resistance to traffic:

System accepts limited foot traffic associated with maintenance or construction.

Adhesion/ Fixing:

  • Adhesion of system elements to one another and to substrates needs to be sufficient to resist wind suction and building movement. Bailey can provide windload calculations if required.
  • System is applied by melting polythene lower surface and bitumen lower surface by torching and pressure.
  • Falls in excess of 5º: Requirements for mechanical fixing to BS 8217 should be observed.

Vapour barrier:

- F-605, Laminal:

  • SBS bitumen based, with aluminium core.
  • Suitable for torching both sides for bonding to substrate and bedding of insulation boards.
  • Suitable for mechanical fixing with laps hot air welded and insulation mechanically fixed or adhesive fixed to sanded top surface.
  • Suitable for high performance felt or single ply systems.

Insulation:

- Polyisocyanurate (PIR):

  • E-PIRFTF, polyisocyanurate felt/ tissue faced: (CFC and HCFC-free, zero ODP). For built up/ torch on felt roofs, fully or partially bonded or asphalt. Suited to most applications, including refurbishment. Compatible with most other building materials.
  • E-PIRPEF, polyisocyanurate perlite faced: (CFC and HCFC-free, zero ODP). Fire resistant. For torch on felt roofs, fully bonded. Suited to most applications, including refurbishment. Compatible with most other building materials.

- Expanded polystyrene (EPS):

E-EPSBFF, expanded polystyrene felt faced: (CFC and HCFC-free, zero ODP/GWP). For built up/ torch on felt roofs, fully or partially bonded..100% recyclable. Requires greater thicknesses for equivalent U-value compared to PIR.

- Extruded polystyrene (XPS):

E-XPSUNF, Bailey Sure-therm extruded polystyrene unfaced: For inverted roof applications only. This type of insulation has a high compressive strength and high moisture resistance, making it suitable for use on roofs with extensive trafficking, heavy loads/ surface finishes and inverted roof applications.

- Tapered Insulation (all types):

  • EPS, expanded polystyrene, tapered to falls: Use where substrate is flat or ponded.
  • PIR, polyisocyanurate, tapered to falls: Use where substrate is flat or ponded.

- Insulation Fixings/ Adhesion:

  • F-710, F-711, F-712, Bailey Sure-fix fasteners with F-701 or F-702 Sure-fix tube washers. Not required where top surface of Laminal vapour barrier is to be torched and boards bedded in or adhered.
  • F-705, Sure-fix adjustable insulation fasteners for fixing tapered insulation to concrete decks. Not required where top surface of Laminal vapour barrier is to be torched and boards bedded in or mechanically fixed.
  • F-612, Sure-bond expanding foam adhesive for bonding insulation to very rough or uneven substrates. For most applications F-621 is suitable. Not required where top surface of Laminal vapour barrier is to be torched and boards bedded in or mechanically fixed.

Venting:

- F-609 Polyfor venting layer:

  • Perforated bitumen felt for loose lay beneath underlay. Enables partial bonding of underlay to substrate.
  • Allows free movement and dispersion of trapped vapour to prevent blistering of the felt system.

Capsheet:

– 17520 mineral capsheet:

  • Green/ grey slate mineral finish. Spunbond polyester carrier. Sacrificial polythene film backing.
  • Thickness: 4 mm.
  • Roll width x length: 1 x 8 m.

  • Suitable as single layer waterproofing or single layer overlay for repair of existing felted roofs.

  • Sure-line: Rapid installation preformed trims for vulnerable roof edges, including draining edges, upstands and waterhcecks/ parapets. Galvanized steel angle with factory applied mineral felt membrane. 2 m lengths.
  • GRP edge trim: Glass reinforced plastic edge trim for waterchecks and parapets. Available in black, white or grey. Size: 40, 65, 100 or 150 mm. Length: 3 m. Internal and external preformed corners available.

- Outlets and vents:

  • For compatible rainwater outlets and roof vents, see Bailey Flow-therm or Sure-flow Outlets and Vents With Felt Flanges.

- Rooflights:

  • Bailey Sure-dome rooflights: Available square, rectangular and circular in a variety of sizes with domed, pyramid or trapezoidal, single/ double/ triple skin polycarbonate glazing. Glazing available with clear, opal diffused or bronze (anti-glare) finish. Rooflights also available as access/ escape hatches, with manual or automatic opening and manual or powered ventilation. Rooflights are mounted on curbs made from PVCu, GRP or aluminium with straight (vertical) or splayed (angled) sides. Security curb option also available.
