A composite bentonite and geomembrane liner for use in above and below ground applications.
A waterproofing composite of sodium bentonite compound integrally bonded to a HDPE geomembrane liner. SWELLTITE is manufactured at a thickness of 2.0 mm bentonite and a 0.2 mm thick liner, and contains virtually zero VOC.
The product should be applied in relatively dry weather conditions, and works as a dual membrane, with the HDPE backing as the first line of defence, and the active bentonite layer forming a self-sealing monolithic membrane in case of hydration. The swelling action of the bentonite compound can seal small concrete cracks caused by ground settlement, concrete shrinkage or seismic action.
Applications include below ground vertical and horizontal foundation surfaces and above ground split slab construction. Typical below ground applications include backfilled concrete walls, masonry block walls and earth covered roofs and tunnels; above ground applications can include plaza decks, parking decks and balconies and includes structures under constant or intermittent hydrostatic pressure.
Fixing to vertical/ sloping surfaces:
CETCO soft washer fasteners or MAXBIT SKW adhesive (applied at 1.2 kg/m²).
Side and end laps minimum 50 mm are recommended; end joints staggered; joints taped.
J40/285 Loose laid bentonite damp proofing/ tanking
For horizontal applications.
Adhesive for vertical/ sloping applications.
