Stratobel

Application

- Protection from injury:

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 12600 (Class: 1B1 - 2B2).
  • If this glass breaks, the fragments stick to the PVB, maintaining the integrity of the glazing and preventing risk of injury. For bus shelters, doors, windows, balconies, skylights and any overhead glazing, this glass, which includes two sheets of glass and at least one PVB interlayer, reduces the risk of injury due to accidental impact.

Description

Laminated glass developed with the purpose of keeping people safe. The Stratobel range of laminated glass looks identical to normal glass, but is strong enough to provide protection from injury, falls, break-ins and vandalism.

Transparent protection is provided by a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer, a plastic material placed between the sheets of glass.

Subjected to many forms of impact and tests, varying thicknesses of glass and configurations determine the level of safety. Consult manufacturer for details.

By applying layers of specific PVB, specific tinted float and glass coatings, functionality can be added on top of the safety components.

Type:

- Stratobel Clear:

Transparent, and suitable for all processing options used in the construction industry.

- Stratobel Color:

The coloured appearance is achieved by the glass and PVB used, including:

  • Type of glass: Clear or coloured Float Planibel, Matelux on clear or coloured glass.
  • Blue tinted glass.
  • PVB: Clear or coloured in the various ranges.

- Stratobel Low-E:

Laminated coated glass products reduce the heat loss coefficient, keeping more heat inside the building.

- Stratobel Sun:

The laminated coated glass products in this range absorb and reflect a part of the sun’s heat and light. Depending on the aesthetic required, certain products are either reflective (Stopsol, ipasol bright) or neutral (Sunergy, Stopray, ipasol).

Applications:

- Protection from injury:

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 12600 (Class: 1B1 - 2B2).
  • If this glass breaks, the fragments stick to the PVB, maintaining the integrity of the glazing and preventing risk of injury. For bus shelters, doors, windows, balconies, skylights and any overhead glazing, this glass, which includes two sheets of glass and at least one PVB interlayer, reduces the risk of injury due to accidental impact.

- Protection from falls:

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 12600 (Class: 1B1).
  • Whenever there is a risk of falling through the glass, for example, floor-to-ceiling windows and balustrades, the glass, which includes two sheets of glass and at least two PVB interlayers, prevents falls as the glass stays together – even when accidentally broken.

- Anti-bandit (protection against break-ins and vandalism):

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 356 (Class: P1A-P5A).
  • Windows are a potential entry point for burglars, but this glass, which includes two sheets of glass and at least two PVB interlayers, resists forced entry threats and intrusion. Tested with a metal ball drop, this method evaluates the performance with three levels of impact from small-scale manual attacks to intentional break-ins.

- Protection for individuals from armed attack:

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 1063 (Class determined according to type of weapon and ammunition).
  • Able to withstand bullet attack.
  • Laminated or multi-laminated assembly.
  • Available in Thin (thinner and lighter, one or more sheets of glass may be chemically toughened) or XThin PC versions (ultra-thin and ultra-light, one or more sheets of glass may be replaced by one or more polycarbonate sheets), offering the same levels of performance.

- Protection against explosion:

  • Tested and certified in compliance with BS EN 13541 (Class: ER1 to ER4, depending on the level of explosion).
  • Laminated or multi-laminated assembly.
  • Available in a XThin PC version (ultra-thin and ultra-light, one or more sheets of glass may be replaced by one or more polycarbonate sheets), offering the same levels of performance.
