Rafterline Patent Glazing System
Application

To be used to the external facade of a patent glazing system in domestic projects, and can accommodate the following:

  • Roof glazing.
  • Conservatories.
  • Double and triple glazed applications (where compliance with Building Regulations Document L is a requirement).
  • Single glazing applications (such as feature canopies and unheated spaces).

This system is non-structural, and the glazing bar strength is provided by the internal structural timber rafters. The maximum span of the system is limited only by the integrity of the structural rafters specified – consult manufacturer for further details.

Description

Two edge supported patent glazing system with external extruded aluminium capping, for application to timber rafters (supplied by others).

Features and benefits:

  • The timber rafters create an appealing visual effect, and are protected from the effect of weathering due to the Rafterline externally clad capping.
  • Does not require an internal stalk.
  • Can accommodate single, double and triple glazing up to 50 mm thickness.
  • Available with a choice of two cosmetic outer snap-on cappings which conceal all fixing screws.
  • Can be combined with opening vents to offer a complete glazing solution.
  • Provides high weather resistance, and is not subject to the regular maintenance required for timber glazing systems.
  • Quick installation.
  • Glazing bars can be cut on site if exact sizes are not known at the ordering stage.
  • Can be supplied in unbroken lengths of up to 7 m, but can also be joined together to create longer downslope lengths – consult manufacturer for details.
  • Manufactured in accordance with BS 5516: 2004 Code of Practice for the design and installation of vertical and sloping patent glazing.

40 µm.

Approximately 600 mm centres.

Product Options

Glazing infill:

A variety is available, e.g. clear laminated, heat soaked toughened, etc. Consult manufacturer's literature for information.

  • Double: Any thickness. When used with high performance glazing units with warm edge spacer bars and argon filling, the system can achieve a thermal transmittance (U-Value) of 1.6 W/m²K.
  • Single: Any thickness.
  • Triple: Any thickness.

A 16 mm Argon gas filled cavity with warm edge spacer bars is supplied for double and triple glazing.
