Pirthane 0 is used for thermal insulation and condensation control on:

  • Underside of concrete soffits or floor slabs.
  • Interior of commercial buildings.
  • Internal surfaces of marine craft.

Pirthane 0 should not be used on substrates below 5°C.

Description

Pirthane 0 is an insulating system with excellent fire resistant properties. It complies with the requirements for a class 0 surface as defined in paragraph A12 (b) of Approved Document B ‘Fire Safety’, to the Building Regulations 1991. It has a class 1 surface spread of flame when tested to BS 476-7; when tested to BS 476-6 the material achieved a fire propagation index of not more than 12 and subindex of not more than 6. Pirthane 0 comprises of a low thermal conductivity insulating foam.

(Pirthane HR) coated with a one component waterborne intumescent (Pirthane FPC).

Pirthane HR:

Pirthane HR is a CFC and HCFC free, two component, 1:1 ratio, modified polyisocyanurate rigid foam system which when processed through suitable spray machinery, will produce a rigid foam with exceptionally good compressive strength, insulating properties, and bond strength.

  • Core density (to BS 4370): 32 kg/m³.
  • Closed cell content (to ASTM D2856, minimum): 92%.
  • Thermal conductivity, aged, <80 mm thick (to BS EN 12667): 0.028 W/mK.
  • Thermal conductivity, aged, 80-120 mm thick (to BS EN 12667): 0.026 W/mK.
  • Thermal conductivity, aged, >120 mm thick (to BS EN 12667): 0.025 W/mK.
  • Ozone Depletion Potential: Zero.

Pirthane FPC:

Pirthane FPC is a water based intumescent coating which gives exceptional fire retardancy to sprayed polyurethane foam. It does not contain asbestos in any form. The flame retarding intumescent properties are brought into action under heat exposure, when chemicals in the film decompose and swell (intumesce) to provide a carbonaceous foam layer acting as an insulating barrier between the source of heat and the substrate.

  • Touch dry: 1 hour.
  • Hard dry: 2–3 hours.
  • Overcoat time: 2 hours.
  • Overcoat time: 2 hours.
  • Solids content: 50%.
  • Applied by brush, roller or spray.
