Description

Architectural Wall Panels (AWP): Secret-fix steel-faced, QuadCore™ insulated wall panel system in a range of profiles.

Features and benefits:

  • Panels are immune to attack from mould, fungi, mildew and vermin.
  • No urea-formaldehyde is used in the construction.
  • Panels are not deleterious.
  • An air leakage rate of 3 m³/hr/m² at 50 Pa or less can be achieved when the full building envelope is constructed using Kingspan panels.
  • Cover width: 600–1000 mm.
  • Horizontally-laid panels can be installed in a tiered or coursed arrangement.
  • Panels can be curved on the length or width, corners can be cranked or mitred depending on profile; consult manufacturer for details.
  • Also available as the Longspan product (same profile range, with a greater frame-to-frame span up to 8.2 m); specified separately.
  • Daylighting solutions available.
  • Offers a BR 135 solution tested to BS 8414 (tested product: 70 mm core thickness, horizontally-laid wall panel system; consult manufacturer's literature for details).

Approvals:

  • CE marked to BS EN 14509: 2013.
  • Assessed to the EN 15804 standard which is reflected in BREEAM 2018 requirements.

- Fire:

  • LPS 1181: 2014: Part 1: Issue 1.2, series of fire growth tests for LPCB approval and is certified to LPS 1181 Grade EXT-B, and achieves periods of fire resistance (EXT-A), for further information contact manufacturer's technical services department.
  • FM approval to FMRC 4880 & 4481 Class 1 fire classification, unlimited height (900 and 1000 mm cover width panels only).
  • FM 4882 for smoke sensitive occupancy: Class 1 for interior ceiling, unlimited height.
  • Reaction to fire classification according to BS EN 13501–1:2007+A1:2009: B-s1,d0.Class 1 Surface spread of flame to BS 476 Part 6: 2009 and Part 7: 1997 (Class 0 as defined by the Building Regulations).

Warranties:

Horizontally-laid panels:

  • Type: High threaded screws with bonded washers; Stainless steel or anti-corrosion coated carbon steel.
  • Number/ location: Minimum bearing face for intermediate support is 50 mm. Minimum requirements are one fastener through the male joint at each panel end into the vertical rail location, and two at each intermediate support position. Additional fasteners may be required depending on wind loading.

Vertically-laid panels:

  • Type: High threaded screws with bonded washers; Stainless steel or anti-corrosion coated carbon steel, and countersunk main fasteners (corner fixing only).
  • Number/ location: Minimum requirements are one fastener through the male joint at the top and bottom of each panel, and two at each intermediate support position. Additional fasteners may be required depending on wind loading. Corner positions require minimum two countersunk fasteners into the female panel joint at each horizontal rail location (to be covered by corner flashing).

- Secondary fasteners:

Vertically-laid panels:

  • Type: Low-profile stitching screws (external corner flashing only).
  • Number/ location: To be placed at 450 mm centres (maximum).

Sealing:

  • Factory-applied weather seals.
  • Apply non-setting gun-grade butyl sealant, butyl tape sealant and silicone sealant as manufacturer's installation instructions.
  • Vertically-laid panels only: VJ2 EPDM bubble gasket, applied to the vertical steel member, is required at every vertical panel joint detail to provide an air seal.
