Köster Polysil® TG 500

Description

Features:

  • A thin fluid product based on a polymer and silicate combination which can be used as a deep penetrating primer or as a liquid hardener.
  • Strengthens and protects mineral substrates and to reduce their absorbency, even on problematic building materials such as sandstone.
  • Decreases salt efflorescence and free-lime in new developments and increases the resistance of mineral substrates to freezing and thawing.
  • Increases chemical and mechanical resistance of mineral building materials.
  • Has strengthening and hydrophobing properties.

Usage:

  • Primer underneath subsequent layers of polymer-modified bitumen thick film sealants such as Köster Deuxan® 2C, Köster Bikuthan® 2C, etc.
  • Can be used as a pre-treatment or primer of new concrete to prevent free-lime egress.
  • Compatible with mortars, plasters, cementitious slurries and concrete (but not gypsum).
  • Can be used to harden sealing slurries.

Standard product features

Consumption:

  • Deep penetrating primer: 100–130 g/m² – double this amount is possible on strongly absorbent substrates.
  • As hardener of slurries: 200–250 g/m².
  • Under bituminous thick film sealants: 150 g/m² (approximately) – double this amount is possible on strongly absorbent substrates.
  • Pre-treatment or primer of new concrete: 130 g/m² – by brush or spray.

Application temperature (minimum):

5°C.

Recoating (minimum):

  • Acrylate and silicate paints: 24 hours.
  • Cementitious building materials: 30 minutes.
