Application

The Force system is extremely versatile and can be adapted to suit the exact requirements of the roof, ensuring the best, most appropriate system is specified. Application flexibility and performance characteristics make Force ideal for use on all construction types as well as an overlay system for cost effective roof renewal.

Description

High performance SBS-polymer-modified reinforced bitumen membrane. Engineered to guarantee durability, Force self protected systems have exceptional ageing characteristics and a proven track record of excellent performance.


As the name suggests, Force has been developed to be strong and long lasting, and designed to withstand the rigors of the modern construction environment. The membranes have been manufactured to incorporate enhanced polymer content and high strength reinforcements that provide outstanding material durability, flexibility and workability.


Force systems guarantee a complete specification solution comprising Air and Vapour Control Layers (AVCLs), tapered or flat board thermal insulation, underlayers and robust capsheets self-finished in a choice of colours, providing a versatile and robust finish to suit both new construction and refurbishment projects.

System performance

Guidance for specification option:

All Force system assemblies comply with British and European standards and have been approved by the British Board of Agrément under certificate number 15/5222 PS3. Force is classified as unrestricted by the requirements of The Building Regulations Approved Document B: Fire Safety and certified Broof(t4) in accordance with BS EN 13501-5:2005 fire classification of construction products and building elements. Force systems have also proven themselves to meet the performance standards set out in Building Bulletin 93 Acoustic Design of Schools when combined with Hytherm MF non combustible insulation.

Vernis SA Primer.

Guidance for specification option:

Fast-drying canister primer ideal for use with flame free, self-adhesive reinforced bitumen waterproofing systems. Vernis SA primer provides improved simple and effective adhesion on self-adhesive reinforced bitumen membrane waterproofing systems.

Air and vapour control layer

VAP ALU ADH.

Guidance for specification option:

VAP-ALU ADH is an air and vapour control layer (AVCL) with sand on the surface and a self adhesive undersurface.


An AVCL low permeability membrane used as part of a system to control the movement of air, water vapour and heat leakage from within the building. Can also be used as base or underlayer in a multi-layer waterproofing system.

Hytherm ADH.

Guidance for specification option:

A durable, lightweight PIR insulation for warm roofs (flat board or tapered). Hytherm ADH PIR insulation is a high performance board used in warm roofs under fully adhered reinforced bituminous membranes, mastic asphalt and approved single ply waterproofing systems. Please refer to the datasheet for more details.

Hytherm EPS ADH.

Guidance for specification option:

A durable, lightweight, rigid expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation available in both uniform and tapered boards for use in warm flat roofs with limited access and balconies and terraces with regular pedestrian traffic. Axter Hytherm EPS ADH (300) is a tapered expanded polystyrene (EPS) insulation board used to create required falls under compatible bituminous or single ply membranes in warm roof applications.

Fixing

Hyrastik EVO Adhesive.

Guidance for specification option:

Hyrastik Evo is a high performance, single-component, moisture-curing polyurethane insulation adhesive with green credentials. It has been developed to provide a safe and effective solution to bonding insulation securely to various roof decks.

A self-adhesive, glass-fibre SBS elastomeric modified bituminous waterproofing membrane. Designed to be a base or underlayer in a Neo-Bitumen flame free, warm roof, multi-layer waterproofing system. Can also be used as an air and vapour control layer (AVCL).

Skirtings and upstands

Stickflex PY angle reinforcement.

Guidance for specification option:

Stickflex PY is a self-adhesive, polyester reinforced 120 g SBS elastomeric modified bituminous waterproofing membrane. Both surfaces of the membrane are covered with film. Angle reinforcement for application on upstands, as detail and perimeter detail reinforcement and as pipe and other detail reinforcement. Stickflex PY is suitable for use in bitumen and single ply warm roof waterproofing systems.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy to BS 1474, Quality 6065/ T6 (AIMgSi 0.5 F22).
  • Roof edge trim brings a neat finish to flat roof waterproofing.


Axtrim aluminium termination bars.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Axtrim aluminium termination bars are manufactured from extruded aluminium alloy to BS 1474, Quality 6065/ T6 (AIMgSi 0.5 F22).
  • Aluminium termination bars will not rust and are not affected by atmospheric pollution.
  • They are colourfast and maintenance free, once installed.


Axtrim GRP termination bars.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Axtrim GRP termination bars are manufactured from pultruded GRP (glass reinforced polyester).
  • It is UV protected and has low coefficient of thermal expansion.
  • GRP termination bars will not rust and are not affected by atmospheric pollution.
  • They are colourfast and maintenance free, once installed.


Rainwater outlets.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Axter rainwater outlets are manufactured from 0.7 mm stainless steel in a choice of diameters, with a factory bonded flange, if required to provide a bonding area with the relevant Axter waterproofing system.
  • SBS bitumen membrane flange 500 mm square, suitable for use with the full range of Axter reinforced bitumen membrane (RBM) and hot melt structural waterproofing systems.
  • On the Dual Outlet, a bitumen flange is fitted at AVCL level. 
  • PVC membrane flange 350 mm square, suitable for use with Axter Ecoflex/ Ecoline PVC single ply waterproofing systems.

Sump outlet.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Specifically designed for through walls applications or parapets, where a high flow rate is required and are supplied with the Hyflow leaf guard as standard.
  • AXTER sump outlet has a flow rate of 6.1 L/s.
  • As recommended by UK design standard BS EN 12056: 3-2000, with a water depth of 35 mm.


Wide parapet outlet.

Guidance for specification option:

  • Used where an increased flow rate (2.02 L/s) is required.
  • A 90° pipe angle and extra-large leaf guards are also available to be used with this unit.


Universal leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

  • The solid stainless steel universal leaf guard clamps to the inside of the outlet stem.
  • Suits all sizes of rainwater outlets.


Parapet leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

The solid parapet leaf guard is attached to the inside of the outlet and is fully adjustable to fit all three parapet outlet sizes.

Hyflow leaf guard.

Guidance for specification option:

  • The 1.4301 (304) grade stainless steel Hyflow leaf guard is designed to be used with Axter rainwater outlets.
  • Its use increases flow rate by over 50% compared to standard leaf guards.


Execution

Guidance for specification option:

Installation of Force waterproofing systems is carried out by accredited Axtershield Installers whose operatives have successfully attended Axter’s RBM upskilling course. Force systems can be installed in a single or multi layer application on all deck types, and can be fully or partially bonded in a flame free, hot air welded, cold bonded or torch applied application on flat and pitched roof specifications. All system components are specified and installed to ensure compatibility and single source responsibility, and detailing is completed in full compliance with Axter recommendations and the NFRC Safe2Torch guidance.

System completion

Interim and final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel. Final roof inspections by AXTER Quality Assurance (QA) personnel are mandatory for guarantee application.

Certification

BBA approved, accepted by all third party building warranty providers such as LABC and NHBC. Fully compliant with The Building Regulations and all relevant British and harmonized European standards.
