Description

High performance ceiling system based on Durasteel – a non-combustible, composite panel of fibre reinforced cement with punched steel sheets mechanically bonded to both faces.

General technical data (Durasteel):

  • Board size: 2500 x 1200 mm.
  • Fire performance: Class 1 surface spread of flame rating; Class 0 performance as defined in Building Regulations.
  • Thermal conductance (approximate) at 20°C: 60 W/m²K for 9.5 mm thickness.
  • Acoustic sound insulation Rw (assessed) of barrier: 42–48 dB, depending on barrier thickness and height.

Fire rating:

All constructions offer 240 minutes integrity. Various levels of insulation can be achieved:

  • E240; fire attack from above or below: 240 minutes integrity only. 9.5 mm Durasteel boards fixed to lower flange of 80 x 60 x 3 mm channels.
  • E 240, EI 120; fire attack from below: 120 minutes insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel boards fixed to lower flange of 80 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with 80 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation fitted between channels.
  • E 240, EI 120; fire attack from above or below – method 1: 120 minutes insulation. 6 mm Durasteel panels fixed to lower flange of 80 x 60 x 3 mm channels, all overlaid with 80 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation.
  • E 240, EI 120; fire attack from above or below – method 2: 120 minutes insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel panels fixed to lower flange of 80 x 60 x 3 mm channels, all overlaid with 80 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation.
  • E 240, EI 120; fire attack from above or below – method 3: 120 minutes insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel panels fixed to top and bottom flanges of 150 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with 80 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation laid over bottom panels.
  • EI 240; fire attack from below: 240 minutes integrity and insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel boards fixed to lower flange of 150 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with 150 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation fitted between channels.
  • EI 240; fire attack from above or below – method 1: 240 minutes integrity and insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel boards fixed to lower flange of 150 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with one layer of 60 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation fitted between channels plus second layer laid over channels.
  • EI 240; fire attack from above or below – method 2: 240 minutes integrity and insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel panels fixed to top and bottom flanges of 150 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with 150 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation sandwiched between top and bottom panels.
  • EI 240; fire attack from above or below – method 3: 240 minutes integrity and insulation. 9.5 mm Durasteel panels fixed to top and bottom flanges of 80 x 60 x 3 mm channels, with 120 mm x 140 kg/m³ rock wool insulation sandwiched between top and bottom panels (Durasteel fillets are used to provide requisite cavity).
