Application

This low viscosity, water based acrylic gel for curtain injection as well as area injection of masonry and concrete is characterized as having a very low starting viscosity. When injected under pressure into the structure, it is capable of penetrating into even the finest of pores where it can set and seal permanently.

The Environmentally friendly range of Koster Injection Gel materials can be used successfully in the following situations:

  • External/Positive Side Waterproofing of basements and below ground structures - from the Negative Side.
  • Waterproofing of underground voids.
  • Soil Stabilization and consolidation.
  • Waterproofing to bridges, tunnels and other similar structures.
  • Crack injection - to both dry and water bearing cracks.
  • Waterproofing of construction joints, injectable water bars and expansion joints.
  • Waterproofing to structures where Type A and Type C systems are not suitable.
  • Can be used to retro install a DPC or horizontal barrier.
  • European Drinking water approval.
  • Non-Toxic.

Description

Exterior basement waterproofing from inside the building: in the case of renovation, it is not always possible to expose the exterior walls through excavation. For example, where the area to be excavated is built upon, traffic concerns impede the excavation, or the economic cost of excavation is deemed prohibitive.

In this case you would first think of an internal (negative side) basement waterproofing, but in some cases, such as in historical buildings or buildings with special architectural requirements, this may not be desirable.

In these cases a curtain injection with Koster Acrylic Gel is possible; where the resin is injected through the wall from the inside, to the outside.

The resin reacts with the water and moisture in the ground and binds it resulting in a waterproof, elastic mass. The injection is carried out with a special pump and through patented Koster Gel Injection packers. The injection material is dispersed on the exterior face of the wall and in a short time reacts to form the waterproofing layer.

An alternative method is injecting Koster Injection Gel into the building member itself. This so-called “area injection” is possible in porous or hollow building materials. In this case the Koster Injection Gel also reacts with any water present to form a waterproof, elastic mass.

System Components:

  • Pump: Koster Acrylic Gel Pump.
  • Packer: Koster Injection Gel Packer.
  • Waterproofing layer: Koster Injection Gel G4 or Koster Injection Gel S4.
