Natural louvred glazed ventilator, suitable for natural day-to-day ventilation and smoke control.

Description

For the highest aerodynamic performance where thermal insulation is not a key requirement. Non-thermally broken extruded aluminium 40 mm wide visible outer frames with frameless controllable, single glazed, overlapping glass louvres and concealed mechanisms. Louvres with either 8mm, 10 mm or 12 mm thick toughened, float or laminated glass. Overall frame depth 47mm, frame face width 40mm. Externally tested to and in compliance with BS EN 12101-2 as a smoke ventilator and CE marked. Externally tested to EN 14351-1, guaranteeing its performance as a façade element. Manufactured under the ISO 9001 quality and ISO 14001 environmental management standards.

Blade pitch:

200–390 mm (depending on overall size of complete unit) with central pivot point.

Fixing:

Fixing can be to curtain walling using 20–30 mm non-thermally broken glazing frame adaptor, or to structural opening using either through frame or strap fixings.

Controls:

Frame mounted and painted motor (hidden behind side frame profile) positioned at top or bottom on either side of frame and with a typical operation time of 32 s.

Optional device to reduce force of closing louvres, to reduce the risk of finger squeezing (electric versions only).

If used as a smoke ventilator, activation is either by local thermal fuse which opens the unit at a pre-selected temperature (pneumatic version only), or by responding to an external release signal.

Its performance varies with size and options selected (tests to BS EN 12101-2 and BS EN 14351-1):

Aerodynamic coefficient: Up to 0.65.

Reliability: RE 1000 (10,000 cycles).

Wind load: up to 2000 N/m².

Snow load: SL 0.

Resistance to heat: B300.

Low ambient temperature operation: T(00) / T(-15).

Materials resistance to fire: E (to BS EN 13501-1).

U value: Up to 5.8 W/m²K.

Air permeability: Class 1 to BS EN 12207 – 10.4 m³/hr/m² or 1.6 m³/hr/m at 50 Pa.

Watertightness: Class 2A to BS EN 12208 – Watertight at static pressure of up to and including 100 Pa.

Sound insulation: 37 dB R’w.
