System components:

  • Cold Melt® Membrane — a two-part, liquid-applied polyurethane consisting of a resin component and a hardener.
  • Cold Melt® DPM Primer — a two-part primer for use in preparing concrete substrates and polymer-modified sand/cement screeds with a moisture content greater than 75% relative humidity, prior to application of the carrier membrane.
  • Pro-Prime® SA — a single component primer for use in preparing timber and concrete substrates and polymer-modified sand/cement screeds with a moisture content less than 75% relative humidity, prior to application of the carrier membrane.
  • Pro Vapour Control/Carrier Membrane SA — a 0.6 mm thick, self-adhesive carrier membrane for use over primed substrates prior to application of Cold Melt® Membrane.
  • Pro-Grit 0.7–1.2 mm — kiln-dried quartz sand broadcast into wet Cold Melt® DPM, to produce a mechanical key for sand/cement screeds and bedding mortars when used as an alkali protection layer.

Preparation

Horizontal work

Pro-Prime® SA.

Guidance for specification option:

For Concrete/ Timber Deck.

  • For best results ensure that surfaces to be primed are free from oil or dust.
  • Apply Pro-Prime® SA by roller or brush at a rate min of 5 m²/lit (the green colour will indicate the treated area); refill roller if ‘cobwebbing’ appears. Avoid puddling of the primer.
  • Drying time will be affected by surface porosity, film thickness and temperature and can vary between 40-90 minutes.
  • Pro-Prime® SA will remain tacky even after dry.
  • To test, use the back of a glove or dry object to press into the primer and remove; there should be no transfer of primer when the primer is ready. It is essential that sufficient drying time is allowed as any entrapment of solvent will result in blistering/ delamination.
  • Only prime areas that will be covered with Pro-Carrier SA within 2-3 hours. Avoid walking over areas already primed.

Cold Melt® DPM.

Guidance for specification option:

For green concrete.

  • Only to be used after consultation with Proteus technical team.
  • Minimum rate 0.4 kg/m².
  • Cold Melt® DPM can be used on green concrete with a RH over 75%.

Pro-Sealer WB.

Guidance for specification option:

For  Brickwork/ Blockwork/ Porous Surfaces.

  • Apply Pro-Sealer WB to all areas to be waterproofed at a minimum rate of 0.25 L/m² (Porous substrates may require a second coat).
  • Ensure that the primer is fully cured prior to the waterproofing system being applied.

Pro-Epoxy Primer.

Guidance for specification option:

For Metal Substrates.

  • Apply Pro-Epoxy Primer to all areas to be waterproofed at a minimum rate of 0.17 L/m².
  • Ensure that the primer is fully cured prior to the waterproofing system being applied.
