Cemfree alkali-activated binder; an ultra-low carbon cement alternative.
Suitable for:
Cemfree is a totally cement-free alternative to conventional concrete and a ground-breaking milestone in ultra-low carbon concrete technology.
Cemfree is classed as an Alkali Activated Cementitious Material (AACM). It is made up of 95% Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) and 5% activator and is 100% clinker free.
The activator chemically stimulates the GGBS creating an alkaline environment breaking it down to release its hydraulic properties forming a hardened solid structure, as per ‘normal’ Portland cement (PC) concretes. Cemfree is a powder and works exactly the same as Portland cement with no specialist techniques or kit required.
