Designed for use in cavities of 75 mm and above, in buildings subjected to moderate wind loads, including:

  • Connections to structural steel.
  • Connections to concrete frames.
  • Connections to timber.

Description

Stainless steel wind posts, designed for installation in cavities of 75 mm and above. Wind posts span vertically between floors to provide lateral support for masonry panels and are normally fixed as ‘simply supported beams’.

They are available in various thicknesses and sizes to suit structural loading requirements and are supplied complete with vertically adjustable ties to suit coursing levels and necessary fixing bolts. Connections to the frame are designed to allow for vertical adjustment of the structure and site tolerances during installation via a loose top cleat.

Deflection can be considerably reduced by using the wind posts as a ‘propped cantilever’ with a heavy-duty base connection. This method is used especially for the parapet/ spandrel wind posts.

One-way ties at 225 mm centres secure the post to both inner and outer leaves of masonry, without disturbing the inner blockwork skin.

Features and benefits:

  • Suitable for buildings with moderate wind loads.
  • Variety of different sizes and thicknesses available.
  • Fits in cavity.
  • Supplied complete with all ties and fixings.
  • Manufactured from corrosion resistant stainless steel.
  • CE marked.
  • Compliant with BS EN 1090-1 and BS EN 845-1.

Applications:

Designed for use in cavities of 75 mm and above, in buildings subjected to moderate wind loads, including:

  • Connections to structural steel.
