Vinyl Adhesive
STIR WELL BEFORE USE
Holding the trowel at an angle of 60°, spread the adhesive evenly over an area of subfloor that can be covered whilst the adhesive remains receptive and gives good transfer.
On absorbent surfaces - lay the floorcovering immediately, when installing tiles, leave the adhesive for approximately 10 minutes before placing the flooring, to reduce the potential for sliding.
Non-absorbent surfaces - Apply the adhesive and allow to partially dry to a firm tack before laying the floorcovering. When installing impervious sheet floorcoverings, the Double Drop technique can be used to reduce the time taken waiting for the adhesive to dry. Lay the floorcovering into the wet adhesive, press all over to achieve transfer, then pull it back exposing the adhesive. Leave until the
adhesive has dried to a firm tack before replacing the flooring accurately in position.
Roller application – On both absorbent and non-absorbent subfloors, to minimise the effect of adhesive shadowing through vinyl floorcoverings, apply the adhesive then
immediately roll with a paint roller, which has been pre-coated with the adhesive, to obtain a smooth, uniform appearance. Place the floorcovering when the adhesive has dried to a firm tack and is still receptive to the floorcovering.
DO NOT use the roller to extend the stated coverage as this will reduce adhesion.
Following the floorcovering manufacturers laying instructions lay the floorcovering into the adhesive and press from the centre outwards to exclude air and ensure overall contact with the adhesive. Roll with the 68kg flooring roller, from end-to-end and side-to-side (on foam backed floorcoverings use the STYCCOBOND Glyda) to ensure overall contact. 30 minutes later and when the floor has been completely covered roll or use the STYCCOBOND Glyda as necessary to ensure overall contact is maintained.
STYCCOBOND F44 is a solvent free acrylic adhesive, which is designed to give a high bond strength, strong initial tack and a long open time and should be used for securing vinyl sheet and tile floorcoverings, textile floorcoverings with PVC and polyurethane foam backings and acoustic underlay.
See the F. Ball Recommended Adhesives Guide for details of specific floorcoverings.
STYCCOBOND F44 can be applied to STOPGAP smoothing compounds, structurally sound, smooth, dry subfloors of concrete and sand/cement screed, calcium sulphate screeds, plywood, flooring grade chipboard and hardboard.
STOPGAP waterproof surface membranes, sound flooring grade asphalt and some non-absorbent surfaces must be skimmed with a minimum of 3mm of the appropriate
STOPGAP smoothing compound.
STYCCOBOND F44 is suitable for use over normal underfloor heating installations.
For details on other subfloors, contact our Technical Service Department.
