Applikasjon
Product application:
- Purpose: Provide a Class A2-S1, D0 flame-retardant intumescent barrier to protect building materials from fire spread and heat damage.
- Substrates: Suitable for spray foam insulation, PIR insulation, timber, steel, concrete, brickwork, and other porous building surfaces.
- Typical areas of use:
- Fire protection over internal spray foam and PIR insulation.
- Timber frame constructions and structural timber components.
- Fire-protective coating for steel, concrete, and brick elements.
- Retrofit projects requiring enhanced fire performance.
Preparation:
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and loose material.
- Fill any gaps or cracks with compatible filler.
- Prime only where required, as per Fred Fire Paint application guidance.
Application method:
- Mix thoroughly before use.
- Apply by airless spray (preferred), roller, or brush.
- Minimum two coats for full fire performance, following specified coverage rates.
- Allow each coat to dry before applying the next.
Conditions:
- Ambient and substrate temperature: Minimum +5°C during application and curing.
- Protect from moisture and frost until fully cured.
Clean-up:
- Wash tools and equipment with water immediately after use.
Beskrivelse
FRED is the flame retardant intumescent paint that lets you build with combustible materials safely. Achieving Class A2-s1, d0 reaction to fire, FRED expands by up to 1000 percent under heat, forming a raised char barrier that slows flame spread, limits heat release and protects the structure beneath.
Independently tested to BS EN 1365-1:2012 + corr 2013, FRED delivered 25 minutes of fire resistance on a load bearing timber frame wall carrying 8 kN per linear metre. It is the proven protection layer for spray foam insulation, PIR boards, timber and timber sheeting, steel, concrete and brickwork, with no primer needed on most surfaces.
Water based, VOC and solvent free and quick drying, FRED is applied by brush, roller or intumescent spray machine (TriTech T5 or similar) for fast coverage on residential, commercial and retrofit projects, including Passivhaus and Net Zero builds. Supplied in 10 kg tubs in orange, with white and grey available on request. FRED is designed for internal use; for external fire protection pair it with Passive Purple External, or combine with Passive Purple internally for a fire rated airtight envelope.
