Designer residence sets new ICF standards

The Janacek Residence in Princeton Texas is an exemplar of how ICF lends itself to construction on a grand scale. This designer home took 15 months to build, of which, only 60 days were needed install NUDURA ICF.

English-inspired church built in ICF

ICF was the chosen building envelope method for the building of an English inspired, cathedral-sized church in Tallahassee as it solved structural, thermal, and acoustical concerns in one product. NUDURA ICF has demonstrated its versatility and sustainability in the building of a new Gothic style church. St. Peter's Anglican Church in Tallahassee, Florida was completed in June 2014 in only 20 months at a cost of $9.2 million.

In autumn last year, Landmarks (UK), a Yorkshire-based developer of exclusive sustainable properties, chose NUDURA's insulated concrete formwork (ICF) for the construction of a magnificent four-storey family home, over-looking the glorious scenery afforded by this West Yorkshire valley.

NUDURA ICF chosen above and below ground for new build farmhouse

Landmarks (UK) Ltd, a Yorkshire based developer, has used insulated concrete form (ICF) technology both above and below ground in the construction of a traditional two-storey farmhouse. The property sits on a natural gentle slope, so the basement is fully buried to the rear with a raised patio area to the front. The property was built using the market leading, NUDURA ICF where polystyrene forms are used to contain the wet concrete when casing in-situ concrete walls – and are left in place as insulation.

NUDURA ICF delivers on sustainable design for AONB home

NUDURA’s Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) building system was selected for the rebuilding of an existing cottage to Passivhaus standards in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with additional planning development restrictions in West Sussex. The client’s brief for The Curly House was to design and build a dynamic and contemporary 407.8 m2 home that would minimise their energy consumption and carbon footprint.

Starbeck, Harrogate

Built by Landmarks UK, this new build comprises a mixture of residential and commercial properties, with the retail outlets on the ground floor, with flats behind and above the shops on the whole of the first floor, and room in the roof for apartments on the second floor. NUDURA ICF with a 152mm (6”) core was chosen for its acoustic attenuation rating of 51db as the Starbeck site borders onto a very busy level crossing. This exciting venture began with demolition in June 2016.

The Red House, Frome

NUDURA’s Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) building system was selected for this low energy house clad in western red cedar. ‘The Red House’ is an Architect’s home designed to have exceptional levels of insulation combined with high thermal mass. The actual energy performance of the building, is outstanding. In the first year after commissioning, the data revealed there were zero energy costs.

Warmbuild home, Cullenagh, Ireland

Woodside High School, London - a UK first for Apollo Education and NUDURA
